nice, I just started reading the Shaman King manga now that they're coming out with a new omnibus release, before that my only experience with the series was the old 4kids dub, which isn't as bad as you'd think it'd be, it was one of their very last dubs made, so they put in more effort then usual and were somewhat more faithful to the original then usual. Tao Jun isn't really a bad person necessarily, it's just that she was born into the Tao family, and treating ghosts as tools is what they're taught from birth, she didn't even think that Li Pyron had feelings until she was proven wrong. also I'm not quite sure how accurate the "had him killed for me" part is in what she said, in the manga we know he was murdered but she just says that he was given to her for her birthday and that "he was the best birthday gift I ever got" I know it might seem a bit nitpicky but I do think it makes a difference especially when you realized he was killed 20 years ago, so he was given to her when she was really young. also the 2021 anime is great so far, but it does skim over a lot of stuff early on from what I've seen, a lot of little side stories introducing us to what shaman are, are skipped over, these 3 episodes take place over 2 full volumes of the manga.

a few important things to note is that jun, much like ren, essentially only ever got to know her own family and their entire family has been living in isolation for hundreds of years and since bad parenting begets bad parenting begets bad parenting, with each generation tending to be worse than the last, it's kind of a miracle that jun and ren are only as fucked up as they are.
