Oh yeah by the way in an sbs Oda hinted that Doffy and viola were lovers so that might add another context to this fight.

Just like David posted, the reason why Viola calls him "Doffy", like the other top executives, is because they were lovers during her time with the family. Some people noticed that and asked Oda about it. He confirmed it, stating that it's not something he can really include in a Shônen manga, but he still wanted to hint at it at least ;)

The Navy and Strawhats have cooperated 3 times now. This is why I like the nuance of One Piece. You have scumbags like Akainu and that rat faced asshat from the Arlong saga, but then you have good and honorable ones like Smoker, Tashigi, and Issho. Smoker and Issho both see Luffy as a good man and genuinely respect him, but as the law dictates he is a criminal. None the less, they know he's not a bad guy like other pirates.

I have to wonder how Viola even managed to make it to Doffy, with those massive cast iron balls she's dragging everywhere. Seriously, that takes some gargantuan balls to stand up to someone that you just watched fuck up almost everyone that went near him, all of them being stronger than you. Also, why is everyone evacuating AWAY from the factory? Couldn't they just keep all of the wounded INSIDE the one building that physically cannot be cut by the birdcage? Which raises another question, how in the hell did the factory get built? Someone had to cut or form those bricks out of that indestructible material. Honestly, this arc just made me even more curious about sea prism stone. Almost as curious about Viola and Rebecca's cup sizes.
