Okay so this is important to remember; Like Doflamingo said “Devil Fruits have awakenings”. Basically meaning they can go beyond their initial levels and capabilities; so for instance Doflamingo is a Paramecia (Super Human) Devil Fruit user, so the environment around him gets turned into strings. Luffy is also a Paramecia so based on Doffy’s explanation if Luffy were to awaken his devil fruit everything would likely turn into rubber almost like a bouncy house. Now keep in mind there are other types of Devil Fruits: Zoan (the animal devil fruits) and Logia (the elemental devil fruits). So now knowing a devil fruit can awaken we need to find out what kind of evolution do the other types of devil fruit users partake when they awaken. For example, could a Zoan awakening be a hybrid form like half man half beast? As well as could a Logia awakening mean being impactful to the natural conditions within a certain perimeter? If you reflect upon any of the previous arcs, we may have already seen instances of devil fruit awakenings without actually having knowledge of it at the time, similarly to when we first discovered Haki. These are things to keep in mind going forward as the battles will likely showcase these “advanced” abilities in both Devil Fruits and Haki.

aokiji vs akainu on punk hazard there might also have been awaking being involved sorry for ass english, they changed the environment so that could have been the cause of their awakenings.
