I understand it's for the greater good, but this "relationship" can't help but be a little bit odd!

Ah yes. these episodes. I would say they are the weirdest ones in all of Clannad.

Chandler LaDeau

Kyou's sister's name is Ryou. She's one of the main reasons that people are conflicted about the dub, characters can't seem to agree on how to pronounce it. Some characters call her Rou and some call her Yo, it's not consistent.

Plus what each character calls her at any one time seems to vary. The same people saying "Yo" this episode were saying "Ro" last season. That, and they somehow can't pronounce her last name properly, even when they get her twin sister's correct. (Seriously, IIRC, they somehow always nail "Kyou Fujibayashi" whenever her full name is said, but for Ryou, they often say "Ro Fujibashi".) I think part of it comes from them trying to compress her name down to one syllable, like Kyou's, but it's hard to say "Ryou" with an American accent without splitting it up into Ree-oh. The Japanese "r/l" sound helps with that, since it gives something for the R to... I don't know, deflect off of to let it compress down into one syllable? This is all me talking my own theories. I've just noticed that if I use an American "r" sound, I can't get "Ryou" down to one syllable, but if I hit on the "r" like a Japanese "r/l" sound, I can. They'd still be far better of just pronouncing it "Ryou", though.

Kamui

This Episode was so weird, probably the only episode I really kinda dislike in this series.
