everyone is gangster until solder-san was kyros. his backstory is gonna kill you. Rebeca just told her dad that he wasn't her parent and that his badass 3,000 win flex was a myth that was impossible. gonna be award when she realises who she was talking to

I don't know man but this episode really got to me. 🥺 The symbolism of the gullible little people standing up against their tyrants... that hits different for me like the "bad stuff happening to kids" does for Curtis. Dressrosa is so underrated. And we're still at the beginning. We're about to get into the real good shit.

The Literal Legend, Kyros....Oda you bastard. :D VA singing a line from the Soldier-san song for fan at a Con. He's fantastic. https://youtu.be/r5mPe3JY1xk

I think this is an example of amazing storytelling. Nobody remembered Kyros or how the statue got there. They said that early on, remember? But Rebecca still "liked it" for some reason. And now later we learn of the toys and how people forget them after they are made toys. But how many people made the connection that Kyros had been forgotten because he had been made into a toy? The clues are there but the order and how they are presented throw you out of wack so you don't realize it. And then learning Soldier is Rebeccas father, how many people expected him to have a second secret identity? But it makes sense! He's a toy capable of fighting down human villains, strong/capable enough to train Rebecca to this level. Kyros was forgotten, the legendary fighter capable of winning 3000 fights. And Rebecca with the toy soldiers training became "the undefeated woman". It's just such excellent writing to have the clues so clearly placed and present and yet not having us realize it because of how he goes about giving us the clues and the order they are given in. It's fantastic.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the music in this arc? It's just so perfect for the mood of Dressrosa. One Piece music has always been great, but from this arc onward it just keeps getting better and better.

The writing was on the wall (or on the statue in this case, I guess), but we just ignored it. 😅
