Any keep in mind, this is only Japan's champion, there are other country's national champions as well as the world champion :)

I mean I can see why Date keeps calling himself old in comparison to Ippo. He is like 10 years older than him.

The Tale of Date Eiji is another good story in here, I think he calls himself Old due to the fact that he’s a lot closer to the decline of physical pique than most of the boxers in his weight class.
