I REALLY liked the mutual respect after the match, and the individual connections were very cool, as well!  :-)

A big part of why I like the sports anime I’ve watched is because of how they can set up conflict with no ‘bad guy’. You get your low stake practice matches, like ‘sparring’, you train and get stronger, in hopes of winning the tournament arc. Players can learn new ‘moves’ (like the quick or the knuckleball). Of course the matches themselves are the ‘fights’. You have all these aspects of the shonen battle anime in a completely different form. So a lot of the time teams are just gonna be kids playing for their own benign reasons. Like for fun, or to get better at the game to make it to the next level. Sometimes it gets rough tho, I remember in a different sports anime a kid on the other teams father died, and it’s like ‘yikes but I still need my guys to win’. Really glad this show is getting sponsored tho big thanks to Marvel Knight

Yea, it’s a LOT of fun having this healthy, but intense, rivalry, rather than typical Good Guy vs. Bad Guy. 😊

I would include the Land vs Air OVAs since those are also in the manga not sure why animes do that sometimes Food Wars also had several scenes shown in OVAs that were in the original story
