What a mind-blowing episode! My boy, Gin, made the move, but it unfortunately doesn't look like it worked!

Everyone else playing checkers while Gin is playing 4D Chess. Then Aizen just decides to flip the table.

White Lightning

Gotta give to Gin tho. He played the long game and waited over a century with Aizen and came up with a plan that legitimately worked except of course it didn’t kill Aizen because of his god hax. It also didn’t help Gin that Aizen was the main villain of the arc and his plan didn’t involve help with Ichigo so Aizen had plot armor.

Miklar Sihn

You have to love Gin when you find out his whole plan. "You hurt my girl so i will let you think you have reached all your goals and then murder you. You motherfucker."

Harry Jones

Gin is so cool. If you think about it, he's so easy to like because he hasn't really done anything evil in the whole series. Any time he's hurt anyone it's been pretty minor and easy to overcome, even all the way back at his first introduction, he could have killed Ichigo and the Gatekeeper, but just kind of didn't. He killed the third seat in the flashback but ithat seems so isolated of an incident that part of me believes it was a trick .

Brandon Nowakowski

Exactly. This episode and the next are the ones that shot Gin way up my personal character rankings. He's such a snake, but he's the good guy version.

Some guy named Chris

Gin with the long con. Aizen hurt Rangiku when they were kids so he swore his vengeance on him? I can respect that. Gin had very good reason to want to kill Aizen.

Daniel Gonzalez

Gin is such a boss not only does the man apparently appreciate Rangiku (cultured individual that he is) but how many other people can say they backstabbed someone from the front its like the no look pass but better also it was short but his fight with Ichigo was actually pretty awesome its too bad we didnt see more of him up till this point

GoldArthur

One of only 2 men in this series that truly appreciate Rangiku's beauty. He deserved the utmost respect.

Seeing you go from really disliking Gin when we first met him Curtis, to slowly starting to like him as the series went on, to him finally becoming one of your favorites, was so satisfying to watch. And yeah, knowing Gin did all the things he did for Rangiku, the person he loved more then anything, is such a good twist. Seeing how excited you got when he betrayed Aizen, was so great. He is a really great character, definitely one of the best in the entire Bleach series!

Polygon

Oh, the big reveal is here! Regarding Gin's true loyalties, I don't think his betrayal makes him a "good" person or really even redeems him. I think he's still a generally "bad" guy. He still slaughtered innocents, and he still obviously enjoyed cutting Hiyori in half. Even back when Rukia was about to be executed, he was still an asshole to her for no reason. It does make him a very interesting character though, and it shows how far he's willing to go for Rangiku's sake. It really shows how human "bad" people can be regarding their loved ones. He's a fan favorite for a reason.

Schmul Sjifris

Hm. Think Gin could've taken him out if he acted sooner? His method was perfect, without the Hogyoku Aizen would be dead. And Aizen himself actually thought he was going to die, adding heavily to the idea that without his antagonist plot shield Gin would've killed him. Now I know Aizen wouldnt let his guard down the same way without the Hogyoku probably but Aizen is and always has been an arrogant bitch. He took him off guard INCLUDING Aizens knowledge of the Hogyoku so I'd say his chances of having been able to kill him earlier, if he'd acted sooner, would've been pretty good. Or was this the only moment he could be so successful and in this moment it was already too late/impossible to kill Aizen? What does everyone else think?

Schmul Sjifris

While I see your point I think we need to reevaluate what he was actually thinking and feeling during those scenes. But we don't have a lot of info to go on so if we think those things didnt have a greater purpose, him being a sadistic dick would still hold true. But I wouldnt trust his expression too much with cutting Hiyori in half for example. Gin has been gaining Aizens trust for centuries, I think we need to consider the possibility that a decent amount of his behaviour is an act or playing his role.

Thomastheterminator

Look, I’ll be totally honest. The whole “Gin has been planning this since he met Aizen” Neve worked for me. He’s been shown to be a horrible person the whole show with only slight favoritism towards Rangiku and Izuru. There were never any showings or subtle hints that this was his plan. It just came out of nowhere with no build-up. I think it would’ve been better if Aizen was about to kill Rangiku and he had a reactionary change of heart. Oh and side note, but I do think he could’ve done this sooner. I’m not the biggest fan of this just turning into another Aizen flex.

Mikestrike

I just chalk it down to plot armor. If this wasn't the main villain and expected climax fight, Gin definitely would've won there

Ruben

That's not how story works. The entire point is that Gin isn't a good person. He literally only cares about getting revenge for Rangiku. He'd have killed any one else he had to in order to get it as well. After all he is the one who bisected Hiyori. It works because nothing is out of place, all he wants is to stop Aizen. Your idea of making it "better" is to make it as cliche and obvious as possible.

astherphoenixxx96

as a captain, Gin has some great feats imo. he held off ichigo with the mask with much ease. and he was able to cause a big booboo to Aizen, prolly the biggest we have seen so far. generally his pure brawns and durability put him far above most of the other characters, soul reaper and hollow alike

PKKite

So its revealed Gin betrayed the world all for the tits.

PKKite

Not to mention unlike everyone on Team Aizen he is all natural hell even ichigo has tapped into a unnatural power of hollowfication to reach higher levels. Gin was basically a child prodigy that all things considered was still young vs reapers like the old man and his two students

Lewd Angel

As epic of a scene as this is, its honestly ruined by it becoming just another Aizen flex. I wish it at least had some lasting after effects, but nope, just gotta deus ex hogykou it out

V_VMat

Snake till the very end. I'm still shocked how you called the betrayal (even in wistfully). At this point you have watched so many animes that "You can see the future!" 😂

Rei

ye it sucks . its mostly also plot because ichigo was suppose to fight aizen . the story in a way would be 100 times better if gin succeded . but i guess the author wanted to keep aizen alive to make him even more op but thats kinda lame

Anonymous

That scene still gets me every time

this episode hits so hard. Gin is the Itachi of the series.

Aidan

I don't know if it sounds weird saying this but Gin has such beautiful eyes when he opens them. God their gorgeous. Ok with that out my chest I gotta say I was watching some of your earlier bleach reactions especially the one where Aizen, Gin, and Kaname betrayed the soul society and as they were ascending and I heard you say that you would never like these scumbags especially gin with that stup smug smirk on his face. So what do you say now eh lad? Hehehe. You don't know how hard it was for us to not spoil you Everytime you said you hoped that Gin would turn on Aizen. Also you know a villain is great when Curtis stops calling him by the nickname he gave them and instead calls him by their name. Or maybe he remembers it because of how short and simple it is to remember but I prefer the latter.

nova

an actual top 10 anime betrayal moment

Anonymous

I really like how in hindsight you can see the betrayal coming. Like Gin's Bankai meaning "God Killing Spear. This arc in the manga was called Deicide, which means the killing of a god, so some people were able to figure out Gin was going to use his Bankai on Aizen.

Rei

kinda similar but itachi was never close to his enemies and acted so serious . and gin was fun to watch .

Temperistic

Three things: 1) I wish they would've added a little bit more to the romance between Gin and Rangiku. 2) I wish we could see how strong Rangiku would be if she had all of her power. 3) I wish the whole betrayal thing went a little differently with Rangiku being in front of Aizen instead of the kids. All in all, it was a nice try by Gin, but he should've taken the Senkimon immediately after getting the Hogyoku.

SpazBoysComedy

I gotta admit, I was really shocked about being right on that wistful musing, but it was pretty fun when it happened! :-D

SpazBoysComedy

LOL! I would happily share with you which one it is, My Friend, but the truth is, I'm not sure myself. I can say, though, that him being a really impactful character to me didn't hurt at all! :-)

gin playing the long con

Daolord Badlands

The way Gin stabbed Aizen reminds me of the way Ulquiorra fires ceros.

Florian Krause

But AIzen did tell him that he merged with the hogyoku. I thought he would put that factor into his plan :(

Mystra

Ah this moment.. Gin the legend!
