It is a time honored trope to use the first opening song in or around the climax of the season or series, very few anime don't follow this trope and Dr. Stone is no exception. It's usually pretty fun.

Season 2 confirmed for jan 2021, so loooong, im trying sooo hard not to continue the story with manga, it takes all my strenght to stay away, want to know what happens so badly.

the cellphone's obviously a big deal but honestly the simpler invention of the stove is honestly the bigger deal when you think about it, during the stone age winter is probably one of the biggest risks for survival, so having an easy source of heat and food is a major quality of life change for them, they won't need to fear the cold anymore.
