Fist of the North Star is heavily inspired by Mad Max, a few pre-modern battle mangas and old kung fu movies. So yes, Mad Max did indeed come first, but this show does go way beyond simply that inspiration, especially in later arcs.

Yeah South boy is kinda an easy to hate villan but I appreciate how he wants Yuria to actually love him and doesn't hit/ force her. Kinda a strange sort of two faced personality of a lonley incel and a evil dictator. FOTNS has super deep charecters especially later which is disguised by the super muscle men.
