This version is quite a bit darker here than brotherhood was. It also went into far more detail about their life.

Yeah the series hits you in the feels even more than the manga or brotherhood. Ed's morality is tested a lot more and the main villain is arguably more petty and twisted than father. They also do a better job at showing the realistic consequences of war and politics. Even Hohenheim is a much grayer character in this,. Man you're in for a ride! I wish these were more regular!

you won't find out for quite a while, but a number of things said so far in this version that you knew from Brotherhood are vastly different, similar beginnings but very different conclusions.
