When Aizen called them brothers, he was referring to them being fellow aarancar, not them being vasto lordes. The only way to know what class of hollow an aarancar came from is how strong they are, and we have no way of knowing that at this point. So while it looks really bad, there's still hope.

Not even 5 minutes in and rukia asserted waifu dominance. It's been so long since I watched bleach I forgot how fun this arc is/was.

even though i agree, i think one of the point of the scene is to intimidate the reader/viewer to believe that aizen may have 20 vastolordes. they do clarify later as well, so...

Kon may have missed Rangiku's buttons, but at least he got to be stepped on by Rukia. That's not so bad in my opinion.
