Honestly, Brook's backstory is my favorite of all the Straw Hats. For some reason it just really connects for me. There's a minor antagonist later on that takes my overall favorite, but Brook's definitely hits pretty hard!

You make a good point of One Piece seeming "outlandish" but managing to get to you. I think that's why so many people dislike it from the outside, because it doesn't look as "Cool" or like it takes itself seriously from the outside, and that turns people off. But once you're in the middle of it, you really see how it's one of the most popular franchises in the world.

I know, right? Other animes have made me cry on the first watch through. Other animes can make me tear up on multiple watch throughs. One Piece is the only show that can make me cry like a little kid every single time I watch it.
