I still think it was a dumb move, summoning Hollows, but Quincy might turn out to be an okay guy.

Uryu's grandpa was coming up with plans and ideas, we have to suppose that included keeping up the balance. And leaving the grandpa to get murdered by hollows is another dick move on the side of the soul society and as can be seen by Kon, those do happen. All in all, Uryu has a point, got surprised by the number of hollows that came (far more than he had any reason to expect) and is a bit of a douche, but within tolerable limits. Lets remember that he spends his free time murdering hollows, that beats a student spending their time at a soup kitchen and does really sell him as a good kid.

They never go into detail, but I assume his grandfather was trying to create new attacks for the Quincy that could cleanse the hollows.

Also, damnit! I saw that as a "sky vagina" too! I'm reaching Curtis levels of perversion. That's not a good sign.

You don't, you hide it as if it was your gay sexuality in Iran

Like others said and Uryu his grandpa was trying methods to work together and not upset the balance but as weve seen with Kon and his entire race being killed and how the SoulSociety are going after Rukia once they made up their mind they are stubborn. They wanted Uryus grandpa to be quiet and not try to change and improve the relationship between the reapers and surviving Quincy. So when they had the chance to ignore hollows attacking him they took it. I wouldnt try to say oh well its the quincys fault ect balance ect. As we have seen and will contiue to see the soul reapers are very set in ther ways and are shady with methods when they think they are right.

Exactly. Uryu literally said that his grandpa wanted to discuss different ways of killing the hollows that would make things okay. He was trying to find a way to make things work.

Interesting that Rukia says that you need the Royal Task force to deal with Menos Grande, I'm guessing the Author hadn't worked out power levels yet since Captain/Lieutenant level shinigami should be able to take care of them without much issue. But then this was still pretty early in the series.

I do hope they don't continue to call it "doomblast"...^^

If you going to have the apocalypse lets do it on a Monday not Saturday, facts lol. And Uryu's logic here is twisted, he blames all Soul Reapers for the actions of a few. If we all did that irl the entire world would be racist and there would be wars 24/7. Yes what happened to his grandpa was not fair but it's like blaming all white men for the action of a few. Kinda like what Brie Larson does. But he does come around.

actually i think the reason rukia said that is because it was true at the time. mind you, just like dragon ball characters are ever-growing in strength so are some bleach characters as they demonstrate the ability to do things that they previously cannot. so probably when she said that, as far she was aware that was most-likely the case. it is also worthwhile to mention that while the dub says "royal task force" i believe the sub says "this is Royal Special Affairs department of jurisdiction" which would imply that they are the ones who usually handle this kind of thing, not that they are the only ones that can.
