This was insanely brutal, but what exactly did Jinwoo achieve by surviving until the last blue flame went out?!

The smiling statue is one of the iconic shots from the manhua (korean comic), very freaky looking. A-1 did a good job of showing the sheer terror of this scene. I think they could have actually combined the first 2 episodes into 1 episode. All of the scenes where it shows the ant fight at the beginning and the various cut away scenes that explain about dungeons and stuff are not in the source material, it's just this group going into the dungeon and encountering this. No world lore explanation, just straight "wtf is going on here?"

Evil God statue had a sense of humor; it vaporized speed boy's body minus his feet XD I do give mad props to Song, he was willing to stay behind and die so that Jin and Lee could live. More than I can say for the three who just ran, but at the same time, I don't fully blame them as the situation has no doubt traumatized all of them.

Time to talk about some differences (Light Novel specifically) For one thing during the "bow to the statue" scene the other hunters were a little more stubborn and resistant to the idea even insulting Sung, bringing up his rank. (MC I believe his name is). Sung makes it clear that it's understandable seeing how it just killed a number of them so their angry and scared, here they are much more reasonable. Another big change is in the Light Novel the statues don't actually walk toward the alter. It's actually a platform underneath each statue that is pushed closer and closer to this alter. The Audio Book was actually quite humorous to listen to because the guy reading it out does all of the sounds (including the statues getting closer and closer because the platform under them screeches while moving closer to the alter) which does make when characters fight other magical beasts later in the book hard to take seriously because their accompanied with his sound effects. Now just regular discussion, the final test is basically a test of the faith in your companions. Since there are no clear rules (like written out in extreme detail) there really is no confirming that running the timer out will save everyone. it's equally possible the doors just close and all the statues rush toward the alter. In the end it's the stress of the whole ordeal which screws Sung over. The survivors nerves the best of them and they leave Sung and the others to die. It sucks but under the circumstances I can't blame them for panicking when the door is clearly open and allowing people to escape. Granted it's still a dick move, and they do deserve to be disliked for it, it's just not one that's made because their assholes but because their desperate.

But we didn't know what was behind the door either, only see darkness, so it could have been a deep drop and sudden stop for all we know, so running wasn't best choise either

That was a possibility too but they're not going to be thinking that clearly under the stress of this situation. They just experienced a majority of their party getting gruesomely killed. Some of which were so freaked out they just fell to their knees and were crushed without offering much resistance. This is a type of situation where a lot of rational thought was thrown out due to their mental state. All they saw was an exit, a possible way out and the first person who exited didn't scream or make any noise which is proof enough for the others that exiting is an option. It's important to note that when people are scared, panicking and freaking out, especially when it involves life risking situations, they aren't able to make rational decisions. Johee, herself was so freaked out at times that she literally just collapsed which required Sung to get her to her feet. (not counter her exhausting herself due to using too much of her mana).
