I don't know if you know this Curtis but, this anime is based on a Manhwa, a light novel and a webtoon. (Assuming two of those aren't the same source.) Manhwa is basically manga (comics) but made in Korea. So that would be why most if not all of the names aren't ones you commonly hear in most anime unless the character's origins is based in Korea. This is why setting is in Korea when other anime would normally take place in Japan. Just some important information.

Now for differences, granted I've only read a bit of the Manwha/webtoon but I did listen to most of the Light Novel but It has been a while so If I get something wrong that would be why. From what I remember the first guy getting killed was done by a different weapon in either the Manwha or the Light Novel. In either of those he gets hit with a mace. They also go over why MC and Johee know each other so well. Johee is a B class healer and would stand outside of select gates to heal the party that went in already after they finished it. Naturally she would meet MC since he would always get hurt.
