In regards to Mahito not using his technique on Itadori, you guys need to remember that he can't. Because doing so would end with Sukuna killing him. His Domain Expansion simply lets hims use his Technique on anyone inside without needing to "touch" them, thus allowing him to interact with their Soul and alter it causing all the transfigurations. So if he tried to do the exact same thing to Itadori in the normal way of touching him with his hands, then the end result is the same thing that happened the first time, where he comes into contact with Sukuna's soul, and the King kills him. On another note, similar to you, watching the scene of Mahito breaking, and the analogies of Bunnies and Wolves was just SO DANG SATISFYING. The manga only had the comparisons happen over maybe half a dozen panels JUST of Mahito trying to get away, but the anime stretched it out quite a bit more with added scenes, and it just made it even BETTER to watch.
