Hello Everyone! Welcome to this crazy fantasy project haha! This story started as a 24 chapter long commission, but since the world was so interesting and the reality I had created became so unique to me, it ended up being just over twice as long as I'd originally intended. Haha! Oops! Ah well, I'm really happy with the final product and I hope you all are too! This is officially the second longest thing I've ever written, which I'm pretty proud of. Anyways, thanks again, and I hope you guys enjoy!! :)

Part 1 – Graduation Day =
Kelsea could feel a familiar ball of nerves tumbling around inside of her tummy. Truth be told, she wasn’t sure what she was all that nervous about, it was just college graduation after all. She’d already done the work, gotten the grades, and even gotten multiple job offers before she’d even reached graduation day. Her family, her parents specifically, had always been very tough on her. She knew overall it was for the best, and that the pressure had helped her strive to get to where she was now: top of her class, straight A’s, multiple honors. That being said, the pressure had been surely stressful at times. She was just glad this part of her life was over and she could move on to bigger and better things.

Thanks to stupid Covid her technical graduation had been pushed back until late Fall 2021, but at least it was finally happening. October was already several days through and she was just happy that soon she’d be able to get out of here and begin working on the rest of her life. She had so many ideas and so many plans. She was a pretty successful musician as well as a painter, having gotten scholarships related to both, but when she managed to finish Law School she’d finally become a lawyer and maybe even a judge one day.

Admittedly she knew that they were big goals to already be thinking about as a young 22 year old girl, but she figured she should start planning for goals like that now rather than later. The sooner the better.

She was standing in a big room with hundreds of other students, awaiting the call to be summoned to start the march towards their graduation ceremony. She was wearing a blue graduation robe, as well as pink high heels and a beautiful sparkly pink dress she’d bought just for this day, underneath it. Even though she was chatting with some of her best friends, and taking calming little breaths, her nerves were still making the tips of her fingers feel tingly and slightly numb. The waiting was the worst part.

BONG!

Finally, the sound of a horn was heard that informed the students it was time to go. They got all lined up and were meticulously led out of the big gym they were in to move to where their family and friends were waiting in a fancy auditorium. Kelsea and the rest of her peers smiled and waved and some even cried tears of joys as they waved to their families and made their way to their seats.

When everyone was seated, the typical graduation procedures began. Congratulation messages, dramatic speeches about the future, and several awards which Kelsea herself had earned more than a few of. Soon enough they began lining the students up into rows and escorting them out of the side door of the auditorium. Then, one by one, a student’s name would be called out and they would walk through the curtains on the stage, grab their diploma and shake some hands, and then walk off the stage and back to their seat. One by one the separate rows were told to stand up and walk out the side door. Kelsea was happy and paid attention to her fellow students, but waited with bated breath for the moment that her row would be told to stand.

Finally, it happened.

Taking a deep breath, Kelsea got to her feet, steadying her nervously wobbling legs in her high heels as she followed the classmate in front of her out of the gym, waving a little nervously at her family with a sheepish smile on her face.

‘This was it.’ Kelsea thought to herself as she waited in the small line that had formed. This was the moment she’d prove herself to her family; and to herself. This was what all her work up to this point had been for; this moment!

Then, she heard it. Her name! Called out on the microphone! Her palms were sweaty, her heart was pumping, and her breath felt fairly shallow, but she forced herself to start walking forward. The curtains were on either side of her, bright lights in her face. She could hear cheers and woots and hollers from the crowd as her heels clicked and clacked across the wooden floor. She pushed the curtains aside, briefly blinded by even brighter lights and then...

Nothing.

No sound.

Darkness.

Silence.

*****

Kelsea had no idea how much time passed, or if any time even passed at all. She felt in her mind like she was floating, like she was somewhere else altogether. Everything felt as light as a feather and she didn’t know what to make of it. Her mind unable to even begin to understand the indescribable feelings of whatever was happening to her. The only things she could eventually see was the swirling of colors she’d never seen before, the flashing of lights. Sparkles and glitters and shapes in her vision that she couldn’t even begin to describe.

Then suddenly, she landed. Not yet knowing that everything was now different.
