PROLOGUE;

Eliza slowly padded down the hallway back to her bedroom, her blonde hair still damp from her shower. She was taking longer than usual, letting her bare feet fall slowly on the soft carpet. She was dreading what awaited her in her room and knew that this walk down the hall might be the last bit of freedom, of normal adult life she has for quite sometime. 

The 18 year old girl appeared in the doorway to her bedroom wrapped in a fluffy white towel. The sight that met her blue eyes confirmed her worst fears. Her once elegantly decorated double bed had been replaced with a single. Gone were her mature grey quilt covers and sheets and in their place was a pink and white set decorated with multi coloured love hearts. She met eyes with 25 year old Nick who was sitting on the end of her new bed. Next to him, folded neatly in a pile were a pair of Harry Potter themed pyjamas and resting on top of those was a pair of full cut, Bonds Hiphanger youth cotton underwear. They had a thick fluro orange waistband with the letters BONDS repeating in hot pink around the elastic. The body of the underpants were white with multi coloured specks of paint all over. They couldn't have been more different than the seamless, skimpy cut, nude coloured pair she had slipped off for her shower. Eliza realised this was really happening. Everything in her room was far more appropriate for a 12 or 13 year old rather than the mature 18 year old she was. 

She had only met Nick an hour before, downstairs in her living room with her Mum. She learnt he was employed by an agency that specialised in behaviour modification in Young Adults. Her Mum was a single parent and as a lawyer for a large firm she didn't have much time to parent her only daughter. Eliza had a nanny as a child but this was different and she had been left to her own devices for the past couple of years. Leading her to being quite independent, mature and responsible, something she prided herself on.  

Her Mum had noticed Eliza's grades slipping and as this was her last year of High School she became concerned. After news reached her of Eliza uncharacteristically receiving a detention the week before, she knew it was time to try something different. Nick had explained the basics of the program while Eliza sat on the couch, ensuring he left out some key details as the element of surprise was always useful. The premise was that you would be treated as maturely as your behaviour dictated. There were five stages and elements of each could be incorporated into the other as a punishment or reward. Eliza would be beginning on stage 2.

Nick gave Eliza a very broad overview of the stages however, they are outlined in detail below;

Stage 1: Caregiver would treat their charge relatively similar to their actual age. Charge can dress themselves and choose own clothes however final approval is up to caregiver and outfits must be inspected before leaving the house. No bedtime. 

Stage 2: Caregiver treats their charge as early teen/preteen. Caregivers discretion as to whether the charge can choose their own clothes and dress themselves. Clothes must be 'age appropriate' for example bright colours, patterns and themed pyjamas (E.g. The Simpsons, High School Musical etc). While bathing and showering the door must remain open, caregivers discretion if they supervise or wash their charge. Bedtime is to be set no later than 10pm and charge is to be in pyjamas (after shower/bath) at least two and a half hours before bedtime. 

Stage 3: Caregivers treat their charge as 5-11 years old. Clothes are chosen by caregiver and charge is always dressed/undressed by caregiver. Clothes are 'age appropriate' for example dinosaur or Disney themed as well as bright colours and patterns. Pyjamas are to be themed as well and pull ups/Drynites are to be worn under pyjamas. Caregiver is to bathe and shower charge. Bedtime is no later than 8:30pm and charge is to be in pyjamas (after shower/bath) at least two and a half hours before bedtime, this includes pull ups/Drynites. 

Stage 4: Caregivers treat their charge as 2-4 years old. As per stage 3 and in addition pull ups/Drynites are to be worn full time during the day and wet, charge can still use bathroom for number 2 as per caregivers discretion. Diapers are to be worn under pyjamas. Toilet is out of bounds once diapered however diaper can be changed if necessary. Charge should be punished if diaper used for number 2 before bedtime or after waking up before being dressed for the day. When using the bathroom for number 2 during the day charge, should be supervised and punished if no bowel movement. 'Age appropriate' clothes include Paw Patrol, Dora the Explorer etc. Bedtime is no later than 7:00pm. 

Stage 5: Caregivers treat their charge as 0-1 years old. As per stage 4 and in addition diapers are to be worn and used full time. Toilet is out of bounds. Pyjamas to be worn full time where possible. Bedtime no later than 7:00pm. 

Punishments to be used at any stage; 

- Taking an element from a higher stage and incorporating it into current stage. Making charge feel more immature. 

- Spankings

- Corner Time

- Mouth Soaping 

- Clothing privileges removed

After Nick was done explaining the rules and Eliza had signed the paperwork (after her Mother threatening to remove her allowance, cut her out of the will and kick her out) he sent her upstairs for a shower. A flash of relief passed over her face as Nick explained she could shower herself tonight. This relief overshadowed the hint of humiliation she felt at being ordered upstairs for her shower at 7:45pm. Nick liked the way the program gave the caregivers so much room to move and even be creative in the methods they used to achieve the desired result. 

This wasn't his first case but it was probably his most complex. He was used to dealing with straight out rebellious brats who needed to be brought into line however Eliza was different. Outwardly, she didn't appear to be rebellious, in fact she dressed quite conservatively in order to keep up her mature appearance and on the whole she behaved to match. She knew she was more mature than her peers and definitely didn't let anyone forget it either. It was in fact this aloof attitude that had began to concern Eliza's mother and prompted her to engage Nick's services. Nick knew he would need to focus on the subtle things with Eliza. This case was going to be more about slowly eroding Eliza's adult privileges to really get under her skin rather than going out all guns blazing. This was part of the reason he let her shower herself tonight. Somehow when it came time for him to do it, it would be even more embarrassing the longer she was able to do it herself. It also gave him time to get into Eliza's room to make some changes to her wardrobe and bedding. Nick was looking forward to a challenge and had developed some additions to the program he knew Eliza would detest. Nick didn't enjoy inflicting humiliation unecessarily but Eliza's behaviour and her mother's concern was enough to satisfy him that his services were required.
