You guys mentioning "getting into AA/Like A Dragon" and it's not too bad! Phoenix Wright AA Trilogy is games 1-3, pretty self contained and generally considered the best in the series. Apollo Justice AA Trilogy is games 4-6, a lot of ups and down but generally are considered alright. The Great AA Chronicles - Two 3DS spin offs we never got. Take place over hundred years in the past, disconnected in terms of story. Most fans love these two. Investigations Collection - Spin offs that take place around the same time as the Apollo games but add in exploration and are disconnected in terms of story but I'd still recommend at least playing AA1-3 so character cameos make more sense. Yakuza/LAD I can keep it brief - Play Yakuza 0 to get a feel for how they "used to play" but also because 0 is generally considered the fan favorite. After that you can skip to "Yakuza: Like A Dragon" which is the 7th game. You'll get spoiled on stuff from the Kiryu saga but I think that's worth it because that's one of the best games in the series and Infinite Wealth, the eighth game, is even better. It helps that starting with the seventh game, it's a new protag so you don't need any major info from the older games.

With Yakuza/LaD, there are a few easy points to jump into. There is the "Yakuza" part which is the 0-6 storyline, there is the new storyline with Like a Dragon and Infinite Wealth (Plus LaD: Gaiden). And then you can be super cool and rad and play Judgement/Lost Judgement
