Been an incredible few days on this front, even if I can't claim a lot of credit for it.  :P

The biggest thing is something that will probably be the least noticeable to all of you.  Over the last couple of days, TheMadExile has COMPLETELY rebuilt and restructured the entire game of Inheritance.  All of the left over code from several coders has been cleaned up, and this basically gives us a clean place to start working so that all of the code is uniform in style and there aren't any remnants floating around that could potentially cause problems down the road.  From all of your perspective you shouldn't see much, if any change.  From my perspective however, the entire game has now been reorganized and broken down in such a way that it will make things easier for different members of Aftermath Team to find and work on bits of content with significantly less risk of getting in each others' way.  That should amount to more efficiency for the group as a whole.  Also, the restructuring of content and way content is formatted for us to work on it should make it easier for us to find individual pieces of content when we go to work on something.  Given the size and scope of the planned project, this should be a huge boon in the long run.

From my own end of things, I've been spending the last few days trying to learn the major differences between the old system and the new, actually going so far as to play around with some dummy files to practice the new ways of doing things.  I also spent this morning writing a bit under 1k words of content for the game in the new format that will be added to the game once the items start getting properly coded into the game.  In this case, I wrote the first diary entry for the Uncle's journal as I start creating the history and lore surrounding the girls. (Eventually, I want to add journals related to all of the girls the uncle ever owned, creating a small library of content for those who care to learn about the Uncle and his slaves.)

Taking a short break right now to write all of this and make lunch, then I'll be wading back into things.  Next up will be to start coding some of the interactive scenes that have already been written so that they can simply be dropped into the game once the code to support them has been written.

For the first time in months, I'm very happy with the pace things have been coming together for Inheritance.  Words can not express how pleased I am at the moment.

TME has mentioned that they have a couple of small improvements they still want to make to the code, then once that's done they will start laying the ground work for some of the planned future content for the game.

For myself, I'll be splitting my time between writing and coding the pre-written content in preparation for it to be added to the game today whenever I work on the game until everything is ready to be dropped into the game.

It looks right now like Inheritance is currently winning this week's Patreon poll for what I'll spend the next couple of days working on.  That said, its still close, with Wanton Cove being a very close second.  So if you haven't voted yet and want a say in what I work on, head over to the poll and cast your vote!  Wanton Cove and Inheritance are very close and it could go either way!

That is it! And its really awesome seeing things moving along at a good clip for a change on this front! I think we've seen as much progress on the coding front in the last four days as we have seen in the previous four months. I'm optimistic about the NPC mechanics being done soon and us being able to move this to active development!

It can be hard work at times, but I love every minute of it! Well, maybe every minute that doesn't involve me needing to write code, but even that isn't too bad when offset by the rest. ;)
