I have to say I love reliving this series to your reaction! You're thoughts are always so neat to watch. It kinda reminds me of the type of talks I can have in college literature classes with the higher depth. I was curious. Does this series have a schedule? Or it is kinda when you have time?

I love all the slight changes shows have to make when using or referencing real world companies or brands. Already we've had Dk. Pepper, CERN becoming SERN, and IBM becoming IBN. The names can be kinda confusing at first, since it seems like everyone has multiple. To simplify what we've gotten so far, our protagonist, Okabe Rintaro often uses his "mad scientist" name, Hououin Kyouma. Then Mayuri has nicknames for them where she's basically just combined parts of their first and last names. She calls herself Mayushii, from Shiina Mayuri, Daru from Hashida Itaru, and Okarin from Okabe Rintaro.

This week was a bit all over the place cause of Attack on Titan and 2 episodes of JJK to catch up on. What I'm aiming for is: 2 episodes of Hunter x Hunter 2 episodes of Steins Gate 1 episode of JJK In that order. So next will be Hunter x Hunter and back to Steins Gate after that. Though it's highly likely that here and there videos will get pushed back a day or so just based on how things go

We are SO ready to rewatch the first episode with you but dubbed 😋

It's a bit too early to think about this but one possibility is to go back and watch the dub but make them really short videos

Honestly, it may seem at first that the female characters are caricatures and that this show mainly has an otaku appeal. While that might have a little bit of truth, most of it I would say is written in, as the characters are meant to be social outcasts and weirdos, and it’s really interesting to see these characters explored.

Gotta just put it out into the universe. You're channel is my absolute favorite. I truly enjoy your discussions. Very excited to watch the rest of Steins Gate.

Yeah, while there is certainly that otaku appeal element, all the characters feel like they have a place in the story. It's one of the bigger reasons I want to go back and finish the visual novel. It's fun getting to explore more about some of the characters that the anime isn't able to cover due to the difference in format.

In case you didn't know, Akihabara Radio Kaikan is a large commercial property in Tokyo. The building plays a recurring role in the story.

For clarity: > Beginning of the show's 1st episode: A John Titor had come 10 years ago to talk about time travel and became popular. A satellite landed on top of the conference building. A scientific conference with some professor was held at said building. Mayushi got a metal Upa. A scream was heard and Kurisu was found lying in a pool of blood. > End of 1st episode & 2nd episode: A John Titor appears in 2010 but no one had heard about him earlier (the books MC remembers having are not there) and this here Jogn Titor says he never went to 2000. A satellite crashes in the side of the conference building. The building is cordoned off so no conference, no metal Upa, no dead Kurisu. The show has "suspense" tag (which is, basically, almost identical to "mystery") so treating it like one and keeping some notes here and there might help.

Haha yes, his name is Samwise. I don't think I need to ask about your pfp. That moment has been burned into my brain for a long time now lol.

To add to my comment from last episode. Steins Gate 0 is sort of like a second season. So in total there is 24 episodes of Steins;Gate, a Movie and 23 episodes of Steins;Gate 0.

Really enjoy your reactions and the discussions! Have been a YouTube subscriber for a while since the beginning of AoT and subbed to Patreon for HxH recently and what a great surprise to see you reacting to SG as well! Just for a bit of clarification as I think this just gets lost in translation without the proper cultural reference: the “insane” demeanors, talking about a nemesis called “organisation”, being a mad scientist, and naming himself something over-the-top like Houoin Kyoma etc. is referred to as “Chuunibyou” in the show (directly translated into 8th grader syndrome). Essentially it refers to the early teen period during which the teens make up grandiose fantasies/delusions about their lives (typically that they have secret power or knowledge similar to what they see in animes or other form of contents) and act them out in a (retrospectively) awkward way. This term originated from Japan especially given the heavy cultural influence of anime so a bit difficult to translate. One example (not the closest though) that might make it easier to understand for Western audience is for instance the emo teens? So in summary, the MC is not insane and some of the things he says with that deliberately evil/over the top manner is not meant seriously. It is just a sort of “play-acting” if that makes sense. (This will become eventually clearer but I don’t think it is meant to confuse the audience, because the original demographic of this series or its source material will understand this given that the other characters very clearly refer to it as Chuunibyou and this is a very common phenomenon/trope).

"How does a person like this have this many women in his life?" I guess he's the second tallest character of the show after Mr Braun, he's extroverted, he has a forceful imposing personality (you can call it false or delusional bravado if you will) and his ridiculousness might be perceived as humour. Also we've seen him serious up for a minute or so (total) and he seems considerate of others. Furthermore: Enter meme 'Men only want one thing and it's disgusting' What men want: 08:50

I never ended up watching Stein's Gate, even as an avid anime watcher for 11 years. I think I'll watch it here in reaction form for the first time. It seems to be loved by many. A cult classic, you could say.
