Not sure if anyone's already mentioned this before but just a heads up on OVAs and extra clips that you could watch in order- -- Season 1 -- OVA- Lev Genzan(you could watch this after season one or after episode 4 of season 2) -- Season 2 -- Season 2 ending clip(without spoiling anything, there is about a five minute ending in the movie recap of season 2 that you won't find in the anime. You can find it on YouTube. It really helps tying the season up in a neat bow.) -- OVA- Vs. Akaten -- Season 3 -- Season 3 ending clip(similar to the season 2 ending clip, also available on youtube. It's about 2 minutes long) -- OVA- Riku vs Kuu and boru no michi- 2 episodes ( This OVA is kind of essential to the flow of the anime while the previous two just enhance it. So even if you aren't able to watch the first two, it's important that you watch this) -- Season 4

Just a little information on how the tournament is timed for the third years. So the Inter high is considered the last tournament for pretty much all third years even though the tournament begins pretty early into the school year. it’s considered the last tournament because pretty much all third years leave their clubs for the second half of the school year in order to focus on there studies and college entrance exams. So the likes of Oikawa and Ushiwaka(#1 spiker in there prefecture) even if they lose may still be participating in the second tournament of the year considering they already have a scholarship to play for a college. So it’s not like the 3rd years graduate right after this tourny. :)

It’s funny and great to see you continually simping for Nishinoya. Maybe because he’s the only one member with a streak of blonde hair.

Apologies for the length again. Lots of little nerd notes. 3:05 "That looked like a hold a little bit. C'mon ref" --> Actually, yes, haha, I agree with Goodwin. I think that was a carry. It's in slow motion 'anime time,' and refs tend to go easy on setters for that, so it's hard to tell, but you're not allowed to have your hands move in two directions while touching the ball (i.e. catch the ball moving backwards, and then push the ball forwards). 18:40, on the other hand, was the right call, haha. That was out. You *do* have challenges in pro volleyball, but there is no chance that anyone has the money for VAR technology in Japanese public high schools, no. 21:36 "Is there an upper limit on points?" In principle, no. Last year, actually, there was a trending women's college volleyball game that lasted hours where a set went to 46-44. Karasuno's will, mercifully, not be quite that ridiculous. 2:30 The libero set is, on the one hand, pretty advanced, but on the other, it's very realistic. If your setter hits the first ball, they'll try to get it to the libero because at least that way you still have a bunch of spikers still open. If one of your spikers has to set instead, then you have one fewer option, and you'll probably get read and then blocked. So, if your setter has to take the first ball, then the ideal is to get it to the libero. It's just that Seijoh is rare for high school teams in having that option. Nishinoya hasn't really learned how to do that, and neither would most high school liberos. 9:45 Tiny, inconsequential culture reference that probably goes "whoosh" for people outside Japan: Kageyama's still just learning how to communicate, and he's trying to check if Hinata's okay, but the way he says "are you okay" sounds unintentionally intense and like this pro-wrestler-turned-politician Antonio Inoki. "Genki desu ka!!??" was his catch phrase, and the way Hinata responds is like his old wrestling partner. You can see a 14-second clip here: https://youtu.be/VrmYUvCf2fs Sadly, he passed away last year from heart disease, but that's the reference. 11:00 Subtitle correction: "An unstoppable block..." --> I think it's still recoverable, but that's not what Iwaizumi meant. Iwa was saying "there's no point in putting up a block if we can't stop the ball. (It just makes it harder for the defense to see)" 15:30 I really like how it's Ennoshita who's looking at everyone and good at reading, and then Suga who comes up with the ridiculous idea to imitate the Rockettes or whatever, haha. They're nothing if not consistent in their personalities. Ennoshita observes people, and Suga comes up with a plan to motivate them or make use of their abilities.

Since this was uploaded at like 3am my time I have no clue if this is the video for Tuesday or Wednesday LOL. But anyways it's so nice to rewatch through this first season of Haikyuu. It's such a great introduction to all the characters mindsets, their origins, and the team's philosophy. The idea of such a positive and encouraging team is so awesome. I love Yamaguchi so much and it's true that the job of a Pinch Server is so brutal but it's a needed position and they have to get people out of a rough spot. If they can't do that they don't have a reason to be on the court. Which is why it's so heartbreaking but he can't stay in the game. It's great to see you enjoying the show and as time goes on you'll love it more and more.

This kind of comment make me think Goodwin shouldnt read comments...

UndeadDesk

Is it just me or does the video keep dropping to like 480p

M2GZ

Literally didn’t say anything wrong just the reasoning why third years won’t play after this specific tournament

Ardawen

next episode, it's time eat and get stronger

Athena

Serving is one of the most terrifying things (for me anyways) lol It's like stage fright because your team is relying on you, the other team is watching you, and then all audience members are simply watching where the ball is at, aka with you. I was never a consistent server so my front row sub always had to take on serving for me. Like Hinata, I felt sucky when I had to be taken out but someone else had a better chance at getting that ball over. Sadly, Yamaguchi didn't have that all-star moment but as people have said before, that is the job of a pinch server. They come in to attempt to change the rhythm of the game. Luckily, Yamaguchi's flub serve was able to be turned into something positive for the team and lightened the mood and the pressure. I know it seems like kind of a lot to believe that Yamaguchi can't overcome this mistake, but if he wants to play, he's going to have to face the fact that serves will be missed and getting better is the only option.

agoodwintv

I didn't know that, also didn't know there might be chances for more tournaments this year. But one of the things that made this tournament so nail biting for me is I just assumed it was the last chance for the seniors.

agoodwintv

It might be the Haikyuu footage itself. I watch on Crunchyroll with a VPN. IIRC it happened a few times with this episode

Skyler Anderson

Something sweet I realized is the point that shifted the momentum you would think is like a break point is a point that our team got as a whole but the point that shifted the moment was actually Yamaguchi's flub.

Ura Meshi

@M1GZ that info will be revealed later so its a spoiler. And the show very intentionally left it vague in order to entertain that nail biting tension that Goodwin was feeling, which you now have killed.

M2GZ

I didn’t kill shit, I just stated why third years only play one tournament because of how Japanese school deal with clubs, your response of me eluding to spoiling was actually way more of a spoiler than what I wrote ironically

Ryan

@Ura Meshi: I don't think that kind of tension is intentional, though. Like, if you knew what the Japanese school season was like--and presumably the audience in Japan that Furudate is writing for does know that--then you would know that losing at Inter-High means you have a tough choice: either retire like most of your class to focus on college, or take the chance and go for the main tournament later, even though you bowed out of Inter-High in just the 3rd round. That's not hidden from us. After the Date Tech match, Aone and Futakuchi even try to tell their team captain to stay for the Spring Tournament, which he refuses to do. It's not a spoiler that there is the possibility. That's meant to be known.

M2GZ

Thank you for this, ^^ was gonna mention the dateko convo but honestly couldn’t even be bothered
