Sorry the schedule has been sparse / all over the place, but by way of a quick update, the order of videos this week: MHA Chainsaw Man Spy x Family Spy x Family Haikyuu Haikyuu Then next week MHA Haikyuu Haikyuu March Comes in Like a Lion March Comes in Like a Lion Mob Psycho

Matthew Richson

I’ve been waiting anxiously, MHA’s dub reactors have been all on break this week. And go figure the one episode I’m most excited for everyone to see comes out on Christmas weekend!

Hope you're enjoying the holidays and staying warm. I was also frustrated with Twilight's cold distance and lack of affection, but I think it's paaaaaaartially understandable in that he didn't enter into these relationships looking for a long-term commitment. Handler seems very frustrated at how slow it's going. I think Twilight got into this hoping for something that would already be close to completion. Opening himself up to a relationship would, in that sense, first mean admitting to failure or at least major setbacks. Maybe that's reading too much into it, but being emotionally unavailable for a relationship is a real thing.

Also, YouTube (or rather, Toho) has deleted my comment from earlier on Ep20-22, so I guess, for what it's worth: - "Nightfall" in Japanese is 'tobari.' Normally, that's written 帳 and it means "curtain," but it can also be used metaphorically to mean "when the curtain comes down," so the end of either an important event or the day. They write it in the show 夜帷 (night-curtain) to make it clear that they mean "the end of the day," but it's presumably why her hair looks like a curtain over her face. - The safe house with the Handler this episode is called "Ghillie Dhu," from the Scots story of a child fairy from the swamp who gets into disguises and causes mischief. It's where the army/marine camouflage suit where you drape yourself in long grass or moss gets its name: "Ghillie suit."

Loid is so smart, but is so dense in regards to romance. I guess no one’s skill tree is fully maxed out. These next two episodes are also amazing, definitely the best in the season besides maybe the Bond episodes.

There's another great show called Oregairu or My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU which I think the two main characters are voiced by the same actors of Loid and Yor. It's a really good show and I deffo recommend once you finish up one of your other series

Please react to the end credit scene in episode 21! It's a cute chapter in the manga and won't distract from the main story but it would be great to see your reaction for Bond purposes :) or just your quick thoughts if you watched it on your own

if goodwin reacts to oregairu he might actually be able to explain the show to me, i love the series but still dont understand most of its themes lmao the dialogue is so vague

Haha, I think you're just strongly synchronizing with Nightfall's feelings of admiration for Twilight, probably. I love how he keeps calling her Yor rather than the usual Yor-san in front of Nightfall, even though she already knows it's supposed to be fake, so why does he feel the need to act like they are closer than they really are, hm? Hm, I think explaining Yor is easy, it's general inexperience, mixed with her obliviousness. She's never felt anything like this before, so she doesn't recognize it as feelings of love, and she never went into the arrangement expecting romance, so she is slow to catch on that it's actually happening and her feelings are changing. She felt jealous over Fiona, but she didn't realize that's what it was, so she's explaining it to herself as a fear of being pushed out.

kingafreund

Loid is more complex, though. I do think he already does have feelings for Yor, he's just really subtle. It's probably the first time he is genuinely catching feelings for someone as well, but he's also very aware that the whole family is fake and can't just become real (even though we know it eventually will). So I'm sure even if he would recognize that he's falling in love, he'd be in deep, deep denial about it, because it would a) compromise the mission and b) call his whole Spy identity into question, and I don't think he's ready for that yet. So while I think that he should theoretically be able to recognize what's happening, he'll be the last one to admit that it really is, and instead be willfully blind about it until he is either forced to confront his feelings head on, or until he is emotionally in a place where it would be safe to do so. It's gonna take time for him.

I just saw this word in something I was reading and it reminded me I never answered your question: the wannabe rival to Twilight is called "Daybreak" ('shinonome' 東雲). Clearly, key detail there.

I added it to the end of the YouTube version, but just in case To summarize: - I was initially glad I had missed it cause I didn't like sad Bond or sad Anya - It was an important soft touch from Loid that I feel was missing otherwise in the latter part of season 1 - the penguin episode continues to be significant - I would have made extra fun of Yor but also understood her anxiety better if I also had known about the sewing debacle
