Ok….i think it just finally registered for me that you are pretty much done with this masterpiece…I am now really sad…. :( what will i do without goodwin fruits basket uploads?

Megan

“Why don’t we wait… until you graduate at least” LMFAO that’s the funniest reaction to Uotani and Kureno’s conversation ever.

Francesca White

Kyo technically finally beat Yuki, he beat Yuki to telling him how he really felt about him, how he wanted to be like him

Francesca White

i love how like Kureno is a parellel to Tohru, and a warning for how she could've gotten hurt in the future, Kyo's dad is a reflection of how Kyo could've ended up. Just like Kyo pushed all the blame onto Yuki, his father pushed all the blame onto Kyo. it's such smart writing.

Francesca White

so fun fact, the old hag scene was different in the manga. in the manga, we get this scene where Akito extends her hand to the old hag like Tohru did for her, giving a similar speech but the old hag walks away showing she doesn't want to change (at least right now). we basically get the same thing here, the old hag saying she doesn't want to change, but here we have more sympathy for the old hag, and Akito saying "that's fine, stay how you are, but i'm moving forward". i honestly don't have a version i prefer, i think they're both good. in the first one, the old hag seems colder and meaner, but we get to see Akito extend her hand to someone like Tohru did, even if it ultimately failed. in the anime version, we humanize the old hag more, but Akito comes off as more cold. Akito seeming more cold doesn't bother me though, because it's probably more realistic.

Nick

Man... this episode made me happy

Francesca White

fun fact that's stated as an extra in the manga: in the future, Hanajima and Akito become really close, like best friends. a lot of people were confused by this, but i think it's SO SMART. Hana can read waves, so she can read all that Akito is feelings, the regret, the sorrow, wanting to change. and if we go back to Hanajima's backstory, it was all about how she felt such guilt for almost killing a boy in her class. so if ANYONE can understand Akito's feelings, it's Hana. I wish we got to see them be friends in the anime, though i guess that wouldn't really make sense to include lol

after fruits basket ends, you should read fruits basket another! (it’s a spin off series)

Nick

I bet people could find parallels between freedom in Fruits Basket and AOT. In some way or another

Megan

Next episode has an after credit scene, just so you know.

"Akito was amazing, Kureno was amazing, Uo-chan was amazing, Haru was amazing.. Shigure was... there" I lost my shit that was hilarious 😭 But yes i loved this episode but again i feel sorta sad that this last season is cut so short because i feel like they speed run these really amazing moments.. but they are still awesome nonetheless!

Trey Goldsworthy

Man Kyo's journey rings true to me than ever, even in just a few months since I first watched this episode/season, about letting go of some of the weight of my guilt, and about others in my love who have given me strength in times I doubt and hate myself again and again, but also getting the motivation and courage to do something I feel is right when the chance comes before I regret it despite my fears and insecurities.

the end of this episode had me crying happy tears after all the angst, it’s just refreshing to see tohru being tohru:) i’m really excited to see what you think of the finale !!

Fabiola Macias

Damn I don’t think I’ve ever heard the dubbed version of this episode- Yuki’s VA’s passionate yelling really had me tearing up!

agoodwintv

Both are interesting and believable. I like Akito's reaction in this episode because, while it does seem cold in terms of demeanor, it does sort of leave things open for the woman to make a choice, which is ultimately the key. And also while things are moving fast in the show, I think these kinds of things take a lot of time. Akito's change would likely take a lot of time and would be full of relapses into old behavior. It would be a gradual thing

Nick

Yuki's dub voice actor took a single look at the assignment and nailed it. That performance hit hard in both versions. I think hearing it in English was extra impactful for me

Nick

And the fact that it pissed Yuki off so much is perfect haha

raesh

When u realise that you have reached the story climax but three episodes remains...give me that sweet sweet epilogue...😍😍😍😍😍

raesh

Ahhh..the legendary 'A-chan' gets added to their group...gotta keep up with kyoko's nicknames...😁😁😁😁

Such a cathartic episode. Also Kyo questioning the quality and quantity of his love and then realizing it doesn't matter. So true, king. All that doubt and fear finally evaporated. Can't have beauty without pain, can't have good without bad. Everytime I get sick and can't breathe out of my nose I'm like HOW do I keep taking my regular breathing for granted! I can't wait until I'm better and can breathe again! Then I do, and it feels incredible. And then like a day later I take it for granted again lol. It's hard to appreciate the good when we just take it as expected. A lot of times we don't even realize when we're taking the "shorter path." So yeah, where's the fun in that! Life is felt through contrast. Not to be like, nosy about your personal life lmao, but you said your threat would be a man who's the ultimate caretaker, and I remember you also saying a previous girlfriend felt that you weren't there for her enough or something like that. I'm just wondering if that was before or after you imagined that male figure. Regardless, definitely an interesting observation about it being based on insecurities.

cosmotron

I really like Uotani and Akito’s interaction. Uotani understands more than most what it is like to be someone who has physically (and otherwise) hurt others in the past: she was a gang member after all. So it makes complete sense that she would greet Akito with such understanding kindness, much like Kyoto did with her.

Brimmy

Craziness so when i do my spam spazzes i let people know ~spoilers!~ but then i also try and keep REALLY BIG AMAZING THINGS out like Akito talking to Uo and Hana XD it just skips straight to me spazzing about what Uo said to Kureno XD This argument/fight between yuki and kyo is just SO GOOD i love them so much Kyo's dad is just SO STUPID...I say as i don't remember the rest of this conversation because its been months and i also never talked about it in my spazz lmao Yuki :3 Machi :3 i love when they do that eye swirl twinkle thing its so good <3 <3 I love how kyo thinks of tohru as a normal human sometimes but its like \its tohru we're talking about idk what would make him think she wouldn't accept u???\ Kyo: "do i still really love her?" / what, who, when, where and why do i love her? Also Kyo seeing Tohru: \oh\ LMAO \and then she just fucking runs away\ ITS SO GOOD Uo and Hana they just know ughh i love them get ur tissues ready last 2 eps we are gonna \d i e\

Athena

I just don't understand why I have to be such a sucker for romance and audibly sob upon hearing how quickly Kyo's thoughts and mindset changed as soon as he laid eyes on Tohru. I just love love lol

I have to say, I feel for Kyo's father. I don't think he should be blamed for his mother suicide. He wasn't the only one who talked bad of her because she gave birth to the cat. The whole clan was, and I don't think he would be the one to wish for having the rat instead. One thing people forget is most of the Soma doesn't know about the curse before having a possessed child. We only spoke about the mother's reaction, proving the father isn't really consider in all that. Yet, they must suffer too. Imagine not being able to embrace your little girl, to comfort her when she's sad. Funny enough, while Isuzu's father was playing along the happy life, Kisa and Kagure moms seem to have raised them alone. And we've seem bad mothers too, like Ren, Yuki or Momiji mom. So yeah, I want to know more about all these people. What they felt, what they experienced... Because I think he truly loved her but said things he regrets. He seems to blame himself a lot, hence the drinking and the depression, if they weren't there before. And he's not the first dad to blame his child for his wife death. Right, Clannad ?

Also, it pains me to see Yuki sitting in a corner of that dark corridor, like he did when Akito was harrassing him. Yet, it's Machi this time that sets him free from these painful feelings. I'm just so sad they cut so much of their relationship. No Machi meeting Ayame and Mine. No Yuki giving her a little Mogeta figurine at the student council because he saw she was interesting it. No him giving her a seconf bigger one while she was offering her stuff for plants in return for his previous gift. No them fiding each other before this point... I just don't get it. Why did Yuki had to suffer so much in season 3 for their pacing decisions ? No talking with Kakeru about his girlfriend whose father killed Tohru's mom and die doing it. No meeting the amazing Komaki. No talking with Ayame about his past mistakes, when he hurt a fellow student girl, not realizing he did before Hatori spit it for him. It's such a shame. I know he had a whole season dedicated to him. But he growth doesn't stop after talking to Akito.

As Arcadian Wild puts it “Suffering, my mother, she has loved me since my youth. Never have I wondered if her teaching wasn’t truth.”

I'm so sad it's coming to an end but I'm so excited to see you finish it 😭😭 Rin's parents are characters we didn't see redeemed! Idk if redemption is possible for them anyway though.

Ietseatapples

I wouldn't really call Rins parents true characters in the story though. All we have seen is blurred out images through Rins traumatic memories. Takaya probably made this choice because she was more interested in Rins internal journey as a survivor of trauma, so there was no need to give us a different perspective.

Ietseatapples

Season 3 episodes 6 to the end really are just one masterpiece after another. This is one of my favorites. From when I read the manga, kyos scene with his father has always been my favorite scene of his. So sad, traumatic, and healing all at the same time. I think the hardest thing for Kyo is that his father is the darkest version of what Kyo could've become had he kept pushing all his problems onto an external entity (ie Yuki)

Emma Root

This show is so good. The Old Hag moment was great, I like how I dismissed her as a trope, kinda similar to what I thought about Kagura at the beginning, but she's her own person with a life. Also per usual I like the discussions about personal responsibility versus childhood trauma. Crazy Ex Girlfriend made a song discussing/ making fun of that very thing if anyone's interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_hxc1aJ0Io

bondbond53

Also like it or not Kyo is the spitting image of his father to further prove your point
