Sending a virtual hug

I've never cried at sad anime before until I watched this

Nick

Lmao it's the sad episode

Gugu went out protecting his one true love… the biggest W there ever is

Nick

Double sucks because Fushi allowed the Nokkers to grow and spread throughout the land for four years, just like the sorcerer/god figure warned him

This show is a spirit ruiner lol I was snot bubble crying like every other ep but I KEPT coming back for more.

Emman Reed

the rock bear blew up because fushi was raging and spitting fire at the bear and then hot rock touch cold water and steam go bang. Simple science really. Another great vid. RIP Gugu

Nick

Yeah they explain this in a later episode because it'd mess up the pacing and tone to do an exposition dump right after this character death. Understandable that they decided to keep it vague here

I've seen this episode twice now, read the manga And I'm STILL crying

Does anyone know what category(s) of anime this is?

Adventure, Drama, and Supernatural! Its also a Shounen.

I think the trope that gets me the most is the loss of one's true love, it really cuts me to the core. It hurt even more when it's revealed that Rean knew at the end. She finally opens up to her Dad and tells him that she doesn't want to get married in honor of her love for Gugu and what a man he was. RIP best boy, Gugu

Jupiterninja

How could they do that to Rean‽‽

Emma Root

This episode kind of feels like a good sad to me, like it scratches an itch of feelings I have about real life that I'm not letting myself feel but this is a safe medium where I allowed myself to feel. Maybe part of it is the introduction of an afterlife, because I like seeing how characters who have died would interact with the world and what they would say about it. I am interested in seeing in how that develops in future episodes.

Amber

I cry every time I watch this episode, I had such a soft spot for Gugu, so it just broke me. I don't think this show will be able to top this arc for me :(

Ahh AGAIN .. I CRIED

Nick

is the manga good past this next arc as well? I'm really thinking of starting it before season 2

Nick

This explains how I feel about it too. Honestly I don't consider myself to be a super spiritual or religious person, but sometimes the thought that people are never truly gone resonates with me deeply I think Fushi is a literal and physical interpretation of carrying on people's memories/legacies. He's deeply influenced by the people he meets and loses, and so in a way he carries a part of them with him. I mean, he also literally does that considering the whole afterlife spirit glimpses we've seen.
