This episode gives me a lot of flashbacks. Nothing quite like childhood and going to friend’s houses to listen to their parents/siblings fighting lmao

I'm running in these halls, getting yelled at by Iida

Iida is one of the few people I wouldn’t have an issue with getting yelled at by lol

And now to get into why this episode was so heavily disliked, the flashbacks. They make up about the half of the episode. While there is purpose behind them, as a result this episode really drags and it only adapts one manga chapter, ONE. It rather highlights the flaws of this particular season. Also, the part where you hear the immediate aftermath of Rei burning Shoto, the manga actually shows what happened. Rei was trying to frantically soothe Shoto’s burn using her quirk. And applying ice to a hot water burn is apparently the last thing you should do. Ultimately that’s what gave Shoto his scar, it’s a freezer burn.

I just love how Bakugo has proper dinner etiquette with guests. No talk of potentially sensitive family subjects, no over analyzing the food, no politics etc. He’s a boomer nerd at heart, dude goes to bed at 8pm, one of the top academic performers in the class, focused on his goal of being the best and nothing else, and has a strict moral code. He’s the best.

Happy New Year!! <3 🥳🎊 Hope everyone’s year is full of adventure!

Natsuo’s ‘FRONT/BACK’ shirt always gives me a giggle lol

One of the reasons why he’s in my top 5 favorite and (imo) best written characters in the series tbh lol

I sometimes worry that this show will fall into the typecast trope stuff, and if you're just watching on the surface level it can seem like that a lot, but the writer of this series consistently surprises me with the depth behind the surface. Each of Shoto's siblings feel like they're acting in very realistic ways. When I first watched I was annoyed at the daughters constant willingness to move on be a happy family, but rewatching and hearing your thoughts made me see it differently.

Great commentary, don't really have anything to add. I get the feeling Natsuo also doesn't really know what he wants from Endeavor exactly. Like, clearly he still cares, I don't think he'd be this emotional about it if he didn't, and I think he's also noticing the change, but doesn't know how to react to that? Like, it was safer when he could just hate him, but now that's being challenged, and while he probably wants things to improve too, if not for himself, then for the others at least, it also means opening himself up to potentially more hurt and he's not ready for that. I love how complex it all is, everyone has a different standpoint and all of them are valid, there's no easy answer here, but at the same time, I get this feeling of cautious optimism, like there's a better future waiting for all of them, if they just give it some time?

ah, yes, here we have the duality of man: Eating soba with your family and Eating somen with your friends

This storyline really is a complex and challenging one. I appreciate the commentary about everyone going at their own pace. I really think that is the best option and that it is okay for everyone to react different to Endeavor and the family dynamic. It is not something you can simply get over, but the effort that each of the family members is putting in is clear. I think in terms of character writing, the Endeavor story arc is top tier.

The feeling I got from Natsuo is that he's intentionally picking at sensitive and sore subjects to gauge a reaction from Endeavor and see how he handles the pressure. He's wanting that justified satisfaction in proving that Endeavor hasn't actually changed and that he's right to hold on to this grudge and hatred towards him. Endeavor the parent has taken a position of humility and acceptance towards his actions and is taking everything thrown at him in full and I've respect for the handling and treatment of this sensitive subject.

I mean, the walls *are* paper thin.

There were a lot of flashbacks but the episode is about Endeavor ruminating over his life w his family. Prior to this he was being a bit pushy with Shoto because he made the decision to change and make him proud but was not really respecting the clear boundaries Shoto was putting up. Now we see him in real time actually coming to grips w his past actions and landing on humility and diligence. Excellent episode in an excellent arc in an excellent season.

So many people guessed and/or theorized right away. I wonder if the crumbs will be picked up. Is this vague enough?

Little fun fact about the anime production. In one particular flashback, you can see three of Endeavor's children. Two with white hair, Natsuo and Fuyumi, and one with red hair, who is supposed to be Touya. However, Touya isn't supposed to have red hair, as seen from the photo on his shrine. In the manga, they all had white hair, but the anime just decided to give one of them red hair for some reason. Then they completely ignore the fact that he had red hair in the flashback lmao. Also happy New Year!!

Before I break out my "Gravity Falls" cypher and start Da'Vinci coding this.... Is this just gibberish?
