i forgot to comment this last episode but i love the anime logic of people thinking Rock Lock is an a hole for questioning why a bunch of 15 year olds are helping with a life or death mission 😭 like in real life he'd be the only sane one but in anime they make him seem like a jerk lol

i've always had an issue with how underdeveloped and underutilized female characters are in this show; i mean there's some good stuff there, and it's better than a lot of other shounen of the past, but you can tell that a lot less went into, say Uraraka, compared to Todoroki, despite her being the female lead. and a lot of people say "well it's shounen, the target demographic is guys", but i just don't buy that. like, shoujo is a genre aimed at girls, but look at a series like Fruits Basket; there are more male characters, and they're all fleshed out. so what that leaves us with is shows targeted at girls with great male characters, but it's rarely the case the other way around. anyways the reason i wrote this whole comment is because this episode is one of the worst examples of this in my opinion; the series went out of its way to have some of the girls be doing work studies too, but then AS SOON as the action starts ALL the girls stay outside to help out there instead of going in to help with the main mission. like it's actually absurd in this case lol, why even have them there

“The Ryukyu agency will handle this villain” translates to “all the female characters stay outside while the boys handle the actual hideout raid.” Years later and I still can believe we so casually removed pretty much all the women from the raid

My hero just isn’t the anime for good female writing, no way around it and this arc is a perfect highlight of why. Black clover is the modern anime you wanna go for some good shonen female writing, it’s latest popularity poll has its main heroine take first place, meanwhile my heros latest one had 10 guys(one being yo shindo lmao)
