wow lots of great discussion this episode! i can't really say much since i know how all this plays out, but what i can say is i'm really enjoying you trying to piece together these bits of the plot they give you in the early story. this episode is really great because it's one of the earliest points where we learn that there's more under the surface than what we're seeing now

So those lockers are actually shoe lockers. They don't have locks or anything because their only purpose is to hold a student's outdoor shoes when they come to school and their indoor shoes when they leave for home. It is a staple of most japanese schools. Gotta keep those floors clean.

There's something about it that makes it both endearing and awkward. It's a sign of concern, but it also seems like he's not in the position to be playful in that way. If anything it should be Tohru giving him the playful knock on the head.

Shigure's end goal just drop kicked me in the face, i can't believe i forgot that honestly we only saw this side of him in the original near the end of the season for like 2 seconds and then the anime was over and we had to read the manga it or gtfo XD

Haven't seen this, gonna watch it now. Off the bat gonna say very weird music choice for the beginning of the trailer, especially with images of Sozin's comet in the backround lmao. Also now trying to figure out if the movie they were watching is foreshadowing at all because right after shigure met with akito they were talking about the movie and how this true emperor had the mc under his foot. Speaking of using pawns So now I am skeptical, and slightly afraid of Shigure but I still love him

I remember when first watching this episode Shigure talking about how dirty his soul is and how Tohru makes him aware of it. That moment when he jokingly asked Tohru for chocolate but she instead was immediately ready and said he would get some, definitely felt like one of those moments

Okay I'm so late to this update by now that I'm able to post it in a different comment Update: Your commitment to bits such as mentioning the forest arcs from AOT and MHA are continuously hilarious. And I agree anime violence aside, Kagura doesn't seem that bad. She's clingy but still deserves kindness. I haven't really taken her random violence as an actually serious thing, I've just seen too many anime and the show frames it in a non serious way. Also, funny you mentioned Kimblee since Yuki's English VA is the same as Kimblee
