Couldn't finish To Your Eternity 1x3 today so that will be a double upload with MHA 3x23 tomorrow

Lol that wasn't them thinking he was cool when he was riding the bike, they were like "huh???" Cuz they were disappointed he was lame 😭😭

benj

This episode is so dramatic what the hell, they upped the anime exaggeration dial to 10,000 lmao. This animation is wild so far I'm only 6 mins in and there have been like half a dozen wild emote frames. I love how funny this show can be on a consistent basis, the emotional range is spectacular. Also, introducing HARU, definitely a top 5 character in this show imo.

benj

"Cow boy wanted to show off his cowness" xD Hey man...so would I if I was a literal cow. I love how Haru chews on Shigure's robe when they enter the house lmao. Haru the GOAT also making the first direct moves on Tohru. edit: Damn those last couple seconds of black screen and asmr mouse clicking hit me pretty hard.

Francesca White

Just to clear it up, no that's not a new transformation thing, Yuki just got flustered and on top of being sick he transformed, but the rules still remain only hugging and being sick/tired out make you transform

Megan

Haru’s dark and light personality are a play on his zodiac animal being white and black.

Francesca White

You're completely spot on about the early show really just setting up characters, if I was describing the show I'd say season 1 is a very long prologue, and seasons 2 and 3 are when we get the main plot. Also I'm so glad we met Hatsuharu (Haru for short) this episode! He's so great and I also love his bi representation

Lysieblu

It's the year of Hatsuharu (the ox, 2021). That is how whipped I am for this show.

benj

Nice! I didn't know this. I'm the year of the snake and I'm super hyped for the snakes introduction lmao.

benj

Season 3 imo is most comparable to FMAB's "longest day in anime" where its last season is only 13 episodes as opposed to the longer S1 and S2 but than covers wayyyy more plot and "action" in less time.

benj

Yeah there isn't a lore based reason for it techinically speaking, its just part of his awesome personality, I for one LOVE dark Haru, but both versions of him are great of course.

Francesca White

My fav thing about this episode was you thinking Haru would be competing for Tohru but he's actually competing for Yuki lmaoo

Nick

I have a crazy crackpot theory again. It's tinfoil hat time again but this theory is a bit less crazy than last episode: In the last episode, Yuki chose to not go to the banquet, same with Kyo. In this episode, Yuki got sick and it could be related to some sort of ties to Akito or the zodiac stuff. Maybe the curse they speak of has to do with keeping in order with the zodiac??? Like the cat and the rat fighting. And since the cat was the only one who couldn't go to the banquet, he didn't get sick at all this episode. We also have seen that Akito is sick for some reason, I'm guessing it relates to the curse somehow. So maybe the story is going to dive into this idea of them rejecting their zodiac roots so to speak?? Idk, another crackpot theory today Also, underrated detail: Haru mentioned he was looking forward to the fight with Kyo in the last episode when he was first introduced (Edit: and since I prepared this after watching the episode, now I'll move onto the reaction)

BotheredAsh

Didn't mention it last episode since we only got a glimpse, but Hatsuharu is played by Justin Cook who plays Kirishima in MHA. Or if you're into the classics, he also played Yusuke Urameshi in Yu Yu Hakusho. Just you voice actor fact for the day.

Crystalrose

I'm only have way through the reaction but i love hearing about your experiences in South Korea! I hope we can get a vlog or a video dedicated to your time there and maybe things you've learned/enjoyed. Since i can't travel right now so i love hearing stories of other people doing so!

BotheredAsh

Also I didn't mention it cause its not like Mr. Compress is a huge character in MHA but him and Hatori also share a voice actor.

benj

We need Goodwin slice of life vlogs lmao

Crystalrose

Okay now my second comment lol but yes all the zodiac characters transform into those animals because they are possessed by those spirits (this was said in episode 2) so a big part of how they view themselves is how they are viewed in the story. There are more things you will definitely learn about the family but yuki IS the rat and kyo IS the cat (same for all the zodiacs). So it all feels very personal to all of them.

Brimmy

God i fucking love Hana I love how Yusuke Urameshi just falls out of Haru's mouth XD Also i think in the Original they called Dark Haru: Black Haru? and when he went back to air head White Haru

Athena

I'm a simp for Haru, also not Yuki dying xD

Nick

Hana taking one step before dramatically giving up the race, and then deciding to start a gym card cult sums up my entire 6th-7th grade gym experience. I was part of a group of people who literally just skipped certain gym activities to hang out, I have no idea why the gym coach never did anything to stop us. We would just chill on the bleachers or behind them. Needless to say, it was not productive. but I still relate to Hana. The entire track dynamic this episode really reminded me of mob psycho 100 (specifically body improvement club) as well which made me happy lol

Jacob Keyser

my sister describes this show as extra

benj

yeah if this show is "extra" than the vast majority of romance anime/romcom anime are gonna be EXTRA extra. This series is actually very tame and rooted in reality (excluding the whole changing into animals thing) compared to others in the genre.

Nick

oh god man out of the anime I've seen I can't call Fruits Basket extra. You don't know extra anime until you've seen... maybe Konosuba, Akame Ga Kill or Kill La Kill. Although in Konosuba's case the extraness is for comedy and it almost always works Like, Kill La Kill's entire power system for a few characters is relating in part to exposed skin and that scales their power based on how exposed they are. There's also a nudist plot point

BubbleTea

Damn, it's no wonder those possessed by the zodiac spirits would think/view themselves as the spirits. I mean, the people surrounding them in the Sohma family seem to never let them forget. Imaging living like that everyday :/

benj

@Nick Kill la Kill IS AMAZING. Imagine goodwin reacting to it lmfao. I love how the nudity/ecchiness in it is actually fundamental to the stories plot and themes, its not just senseless fan service.

jdthebud

I think that's why I'm getting more into this show vs other romance anime, the lack of extraness (is that even a word?).

Jacob Keyser

i never called it extra my sister does and she has seen very few animes. yah this show is tame

benj

@jacob yeah we know your comment opened up with "my sister...." lmao

agoodwintv

Haha that's true. I guess what I said about directness still applies? Tohru's gotta make some moves before it's too late

agoodwintv

Oh you were born in the year of the rat? YOU DESTROYED EVERYTHING AND IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT (read in Akito voice)
