omg I was refreshing for a few minutes waiting thankfully you posted before I go to sleep lol

TheTrashBandit

Been waiting for this one :D

Holden Kesler

It's your quirk not his. love this line

Cole Hoffman

Just got back form work, ready to watch this! You posted this at literally the perfect time for me, lol. I don't comment too often, but I look forward to watching your reactions every day once I get home. Love your thoughts and how you approach everything. This is one of my favorite shows of all time (maybe even my favorite), and it just keeps getting better and better. And that sounds cliche, but it honestly does. I've also been watching Attack on Titan with you (my first time watching it), and you've been a big help in understanding lots of things, lol. Otherwise, I'd have to watch each episode 2 times, just to learn all the characters and events and whatnot. Anyways, sorry for the long comment. Keep up your amazing reactions to everything!

Christiaan

Where’s melonlord noo 😭

agoodwintv

Haha he's around just not assembled. I am sort of on the road right now but he will return when I get situated

Anonymous

Did you get a new light for your camera?

agoodwintv

I filmed this at a friend's house where I am currently staying. So I just used lights that he had

Anonymous

As I am watching it with you, I don't have much to comment about the show since I'm only enjoying the show, I just wanted to say that your eyes are very very beautiful in this lighting.

Anonymous

My first thought when watching was "Where's Melon Lord?!"

malikparah

so used to the white background with the fruit that this background was almost jarring, man was it funny to hear your predictions for the tournament in these last few episodes you thought the MC was Deku but it was Todoroki all along! Also re your thoughts on Todoroki blaming his dad for what his mum did to him while his mum is directly responsible for the action we heard Endeavour hit her in the flashback so it's implied that she was physically and most likely emotionally abused throughout his childhood. Add this to the fact that she was in a forced marriage and made to pop out kids until one was suitably powered to Endeavour's liking and you can see why Shoto could make the link to Endeavour driving her to the point where she wasn't emotionally stable and harming her own child because she saw the physical representation of Endeavour in him

Jo

Yeah, while you definitely can say that the responsibility for actually burning Shouto is on her, with how caring we saw her being in the other parts of the flashback, I can't even imagine it was particularly done on purpose. Like, I imagine her just seeing Shouto's left side and seeing Endeavor, and just sort of acting on instinct.

Paola

You had very refreshing takes on this episode. Including mentioning things about Endeavor that I hadn't even considered until way later in the show. 🥲 Thanks for another great reaction, (especially when I'm sure things are somewhat hectic for you right now. 😅)

Anonymous

The tear Todoroki sheds when Endeavor calls out to him is heartbreaking 💔

Anonymous

I think All Might ignores what he put himself through for the sake of his dream, but seeing deku do the same is a wake up call for him.

Jupiterninja

How are they going to have the rest of the bracket normally after this, that was the coolest possible fight!

Kollie123

Your genuine shock the the show didn’t let Deku win is so funny lol

DrowsyCody

Idk man there’s your parents having flaws and then there’s being an abusive, wifebeater, most likely borderline rapist

Aura Y

I honestly don't think I've noticed that until this time watching! I've seen the show several times too, wow...

Jay Crigler

Did you take notice of todoroki's siblings he has 3. 2 with white hair I'm guessing ice quirk and 1 with red hair I guessing fire quirk I wanna know if endeavor considers his other kids mistakes if Todoroki is a masterpiece? Just a thought I had while watching this

Aura Y

I think this is one of the moments that hook you even further into the show if you weren't already! Such a seemingly climactic match, but occurring in the 2nd round of the tournament! I think the analysis of Midoriya's outlook on being a hero is spot on. Even though he uses All-Might as a role model, his intentions and his goals of saving people are all his own! He wants to win this match, but he also wants to help Todoroki who did shared his vulnerabilities. What a beautiful moment for both Deku and Todoroki! I love this episode!

BotheredAsh

As a manga reader, I can confirm that the Todorokis should have gone to family therapy a long time ago.

This camera angle is going to take some getting used to. I’m so used to the other angle.

Stephen

Hey don't know if this has been mentioned but it would be really cool if you reacted to the my hero movie "two heroes". it gives alot of allmight backstory and takes place between season 2 and 3

Ramon Cintron

This is probably a wierd comment but I really would like to see your take on Buffy the Vampire slayer since you are soo amazing and analizing and the entire show is a metaphor for life and the struggles of growing up from a teenager into an adult and even then how they struggle when they transition into adulthood.

Anonymous

This episode is in my opinion the best so far. Action, animation, character development, it has everything. I really appreciate that they didn't let Deku win, it's something I like from this show, the protagonist actually struggles and suffers to achieve his dream

Ice

Even if Deku lost the tournament, he still won in a way. He was able to help Shoto realized something important about himself that he had forgotten. Deku is a true winner here xD a true hero.

RationallySassy

I love that Todorki thanks Midoriya in the tail-end of the fight. There's an understanding between both of them now that I think is really important for future growth

agoodwintv

Yeah it's a huge difference. But still, Todoroki's life has to be his own. It's probably even more important for him.

agoodwintv

I noticed them but didn't give it too much thought. Endeavor clearly seems done with them.....

agoodwintv

It's an amazing episode. About Midoriya there's no way he can pull all that out of him to the point of near death, AND have all these insights that are perfectly relevant, just because he wants to impress All Might. This is some of the clearest evidence so far for me that he deserves to be in his position.

agoodwintv

Not at all weird. I watched a little bit of it but could never stay current on it

agoodwintv

Definitely, like I've said 1000x times now, there are lots of different games being played haha

Ruma Risto

This is by far my favorite episode (even though I’ve only seen the first three seasons of MHA). Using his fire quirk was a huge step for Todoroki. Not only was it implied that Endeavor beat his youngest son, he probably also physically and even sexually abused his wife. For Shoto, fire used to represent everything he hated: violence, terror, assault, pain. This episode showed what Midoriya does best; helping the broken man was more important than winning the tournament.

Jake White

Honestly, probably my favorite episode of the series. Can’t even begin to count the number of times I’ve watched it and still tear up on rewatches to this day lol. The voice acting, the animation, the characters, the dialogue, etc. etc. Just a fantastic episode all around.

Kamolak

love the tropic thunder reference :P this episode is intense.. one of the best imo.. Also I'd argue with you on the mother point.. She was forced into this marriage and beaten, raped, etc.. I just think it's a lot less clear than saying it's her fault.

jdthebud

You look so cramped with the wall right behind you, haha. I'm enjoying rewatching this show with you, it's a great refresher since it's been a few years since it first aired - S1 in 2016, S2 in 2017.

thevoidbender

I loved the mad doo doo doot 😂 I will say that as for Todoroki blaming his father for what his mom did to him it’s understandable why he feels like that even if objectively it’s not true. He is at least partially to blame for contributing to the mom’s mental deterioration via his abuse but he is not fully to blame like Todoroki assigns him too. I think because he loves his mom (as she was clearly the only one showing him affection) and hates his dad he’s internally minimizing her agency and role in it because his hatred of his father is clouding his thinking of the event. He’s putting all of the blame on his dad because his thinking is probably “Well if he wasn’t abusive she wouldn’t have mentally snapped and done this.”

MikeWest

"How many times do we need to teach you this lesson, old man!?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXEJ82owmng

Anna Lena Ciplajevs

Great reaction! I somewhat agree with you about your feelings of Endeavour, but I do think wether he cares about shoto or not is somewhat irrelevant? Like he’s still domestically abusing his wife and child or at least he has in the past (we hear him hitting her in the first flashback) and created such a hostile home environment that he all but traumatized shoto and drove his wife insane. Still, her actions are of course her own responsibility and what she did was horrible but these were kind of "excusing" circumstances. She clearly has mental health problems. Sure all of this might be in the past for Endeavour and it might come from a twisted sense of care and conviction, and I know that the fandom is very split on: Endeavour is an absolute devil and abusive Vs Endeavour is really cool and awesome and ehh, it’s not that bad and also hes an awesome hero It’s hard to make up my mind on this, thought I think he can be a horrible father and a cool hero at the same time. (Im purposefully trying not to spoil so please don’t respond with further things about him as a character or recent anime events) Anyway, this episode is in my top 3 for this season and I love how it also showed how similar bakugou and Deku are in some respects. Apparently Bakugou also tends to analyze everything carefully, he’s just less word-vomity about it ;)

Anna Lena Ciplajevs

Mini alluding to spoilers, careful!!! I agree but later events make their relationship much more unclear, whether there was any positive sentiment between them, so I maybe sorta wouldn’t call it rape? But then again it is a forced marriage so any resulting sex would automatically be rape I guess :/ yeah, tough topic

pr37

I think the problem lies in exactly the categories you named. I don't think Endeavor is either or, he's a combination of both and probably some other complex things that I won't go into cuz of spoilers. People are not black and white even when they do bad things, of course, that doesn't absolve them of their actions but it does make you understand them.

KrimzonHawka

I think you're displacing what the idea of choice is because we're crossing into a matter of mental health from a broken abused wife in this case, if she literally went crazy how much choice or responsibility do we put on her in that case when totally irrational while making it. It wasn't even really Todoroki she was throwing the water at in her mind, she was seeing Endeavor in that moment and she was afraid of herself enough and what she might do to her children which is why she wanted to leave. If we ascribe the mental breakdown to Endeavor's abuse and uncaring attitude then at least the majority of the responsibility falls on him as the remaining rational actor, even if he is a sociopath instead of crazy like his wife became.

Anonymous

Goodwin channeling Todoroki channeling Zuko channeling Iroh is a truly insightful being. I forgot how character-focused this show can be; your analysis on how you perceive all these characters’ inner workings is always fun to listen to!

Sam B

You gotta remember, this is Alex's first watch. You know all the backstory. When I watched it first I thought the mom was wildin too, which she was and that's largely endeavors fault, but not entirely.

Sam B

I'm pissed... doo doo dooo, doo doo dooo

Kayleigh McRae

It doesn't matter what a parent's intention is. Abuse is abuse. At least that person needs to be confronted and forced into therapy to discover why that sort of behavior isn't okay and needs to stop and change. I do agree that people are flawed and can change. But with Endeavor it doesn't matter to me all the good things he does as a hero if he refuses to fix his family problems that he was responsible for twisting. I also don't agree with the statement that someone should be held responsible for their actions, if their mental state impairs their judgement. Like with the mother here. Her decision wasn't based on her own mental and moral reasonings. But a intense PTSD response. I'm sure she regretted the incident the moment she snapped back to being in a safe head space. But there are some things that happen that are a result of conditioning and fear response. That no rational thought can disrupt or change. Sorry for rambling. I do love hearing your opinions though. Glad you are enjoying the show so much. :D

Santos Luna Ramirez

Bet those doo do dooo’s would come in handy watching Attack on Titan 😂

Chris

Damn this episode is incredible. It has everything from the characterization, animation, music...I always find myself coming back to it. You can be so proud of Deku in this moment, but at the same time be really proud of Shoto too. It also shows that Deku really is a hero. Anyway, best super hero high five in the history of forever.

Brimmy

MHA fandom is annoying, i was spoiled on todoroki using his fire side \didn't know when he used it just that he did\ so his "hero" outfit during the first few eps of S1 made no sense and just looked bizarre i also...nah guess its been awhile since i've last seen this but i thought his backstory was much much longer also u can't logic out endeavor cuz the fandom will be on ur ass so quick to remind u that he's abusive and a rapist so just be careful o.o also if u think the animation for THIS fight was nuts, just wait till u get to season 3 o.o

Anonymous

Seeing Alex go from pure confusion to singing the outro gave me more joy than I’ve ever known lol

Anonymous

Favorite part was when you were pissed even during the first couple seconds of the outro and then got into it again 😂

Cheezy

these reactions are the highlight of my day, absolutely the most insightful reactor I've found on youtube thus far!! as good as the dub for this show is though, sad to see you chose it over the sub for this one-- the voice acting work is truly above and beyond in the original (IMO much less whiny and truly gave the emotional scenes from the manga justice)-- this episode in particular I found to be beautiful and tear-jerking in the original, with the VAs for the Todo vs Deku fight. following you on this journey all the same!! excited to see what future reactions will bring (irrationally crossing my fingers for a sub switch someday though, haha😂😂)

Derrick C. Shields

Completely agree. Literally all evidence says that in a situation like this, removing the source of the abuse that is Endeavour and getting the victims help, even if those victims may have inadvertently continued the cycle of abuse themselves, is the best way to help everyone - including Endeavour, actually ...Not that he's the priority... Instead, the situation is the exact opposite, with Endeavour continuing to be in contact with Shoto and no third party involved in holding him accountable. But Rei? "Well, yeah, she should be kept away from her son. She abused him, after all! Oh, Endeavour? Well, he saves random people all the time, so I guess that evens it out." Friggin' backwards, I swear.
