Hahahah your reaction to the title card

Nick

Red swan: What's the truth Now Alex, most of your questions will be answered

malikparah

Hope you've got big brain mode turned on for the next few episodes coz if you don't get your head around those then s4 is gonna be hella confusing

R'Mani Leavell

NOOO did you just call Erens mom "Trisha". A lot of people are gonna be mad at that LMAOO. IM IN TEARS

Anonymous

Eren's mom, Trisha Yeager

Aaron Ong

Congrats on finishing the prologue of Attack on Titan! Now it is time for the show to begin.

Anonymous

The next episode is one of the most information dense I've ever seen. 90% of your questions will definitely be answered in it and I can't wait to see it!

Amit

Turning point of the show... and AIRSHIPS

R'Mani Leavell

The thing I loved most about the basement reveal is that we find out humans are living in elegance. I always felt humans being alive didn't come from out of nowhere, but the fact that they are living in elegance and even have air ships, it opens up so many ideas.

Anonymous

The basement arc is definitely the most satisfying in terms of delivering what we've been asking about since the first episode. I can't wait to see your reaction to the next episode!

ComicalSkate

Shows Armbands: "Oh no!" Me: "Oh yes!"

Stephen Mailman

Just info for the timing of everything, humans have only been in the walls for about 100 years, so it’s plausible that Grisha grew up, infiltrated the walls and had Eren somewhere in that timeframe, hope that helps!

ArmdVctr

Eren finds out he has an aunt.

Anonymous

20 and 21 are my favorite episodes in the show. But yeah, it can get really confusing, especially with the historical stuff.

Francesca White

yeah as a Jewish person i was VERY uncomfortable with that imagery with the armbands lol, i haven't gotten farther than this so i hope it's done respectfully cuz it just worries me lol

Anonymous

I'm guessing you've already watched the next episode. So, did your longest awaited mystery box deliver ? I know we are going to get your reaction in 2 days but im just curious if it did satisfy or not.

a. tree

I'm not sure how far ahead you are but this is just a little (no spoilers) notice to keep from being confused when you start the next season in a few episodes! There is a timeskip which can be a bit confusing, but important to remember how long it has been since certain events. Season 4 starts: 3 years after the last episode of Season 3 4 years after the battle at Shiganshina where Armin ate Bertholdt 9 years after Bertholdt and Reiner broke the walls (around which time Eren ate his father)

Anonymous

Armin and Bertholdt are similar in so many ways, and we saw that in today’s episode. They're both such kind souls, yet given the most destructive titan power of them all. You said something like “I hope Armin uses the colossal titan for peace” but I don’t know if that could ever be possible, since even just transforming wipes everything out in a 10 mile radius. I feel bad for Armin and Bertholdt. Bertholdt must’ve been in so much pain, watching over Reiner, never knowing when his personalities would shift, and having to be the rock for the two of them for years all on his own, without Annie or Marcel. A lot of trauma, and now Armin has access to it. Very excited to see your reaction to the upcoming episodes!

Ramon Cintron

I love that you immediately got the seriousness of the armbands were. Alot of people ignore them.

Aura Y

This will definitely be a turning-point moving forward and it'll be interesting how the reaction will be about the reveals. The Day is almost here... and I'm excited and nervous

Anonymous

I don't actually know if this is true, and actually it's probably not, but the whole thing where the key doesn't actually open the door and then oops the secret drawer is actually empty feels like a meta joke. Like I can imagine there being memes going around the fandom at the time about the basement key not even being the right key, and Isayama just decided to throw it in because it's funny.

Anonymous

oh bro I didn’t even see it like this. Fay. His aunt. I’m gonna cry.

a. tree

Imagine if they ended the episode right there with Eren realizing the key doesn't go to the door Then another episode of buildup for them to find the empty drawer Then another episode of buildup before they actually open

Trish and Grisha

Anders Pike

I knew I should wait until the next 2 episodes were out, but no, I had to torture myself and watch this reaction right now XD

Dominic Caciappo

I cant believe we here, cant wait for the history book episodes! tutorial complete

AIRSHIPS! So wild when you consider that Grisha was probably in his early-mid 40s when he gave Eren his titan, meaning that this flashback was probably 30 years ago. Outside the walls they had airships 30 WHOLE YEARS ago. Mind-boggling to imagine what technology they have now.

agoodwintv

I'm very interested to see where this Bertholdt-Armin connection goes... I'm guessing Armin will start to unlock some of these memories...

Discovering the truth legit gave me future shock, I felt so messed up. For some reason I actually thought it was all taking place in some kind of late medieval-ish time period but now that I think about it, 1800s would be more accurate. Either way, I guess it is that for the people behind the walls, but meanwhile the entire world has advanced far beyond them and they have no clue. Are you KIDDING ME??? And there's armbands?? Honestly it still messes me up just reliving it. History happens quick, man. I think I watched the episodes too fast I couldn't wrap my head around it. You'd think Ymir's flashbacks would've been a clue but nope. They did a good job masking the actual time period this is all taking place. No significant hints from the outside titans. Other than coffee and canned foods. Lots of stuff you're gonna look back on differently if you do a rewatch, that's for sure. So how does it FEEL, knowing the truth now? And how do you think Eren's gonna take this news? Though you're probably a bit ahead, but still.

Polygon

congratulations, you've finished the prologue of attack on titan

ArmdVctr

Grisha is from Xerxes!

agoodwintv

This is actually as far as I've seen at the moment :) My hunch was that the outside world would be something like the modern world so it was not too big of a shock. But for Eren... I'm guessing a mixture of confusion and anger.

Next chapter basically changes AoT entire genre, an absolutely insane episode, and the skeleton for whats to come. Prepare, because from here AoT becomes a big brain series.

MikeWest

The basement is the friends we made (then lost almost immediately) along the way

Anonymous

who's Carla? I only know Trisha, wife of Grisha.

Anonymous

I don't think one can be ready for the next episode

Anna Lena Ciplajevs

Honestly I’d think so, eventhough I’m not Jewish so I’m obviously not qualified to comment on this. I am German however and Germany has very strict laws on how WW2 and nazi stuff can be handled. Theres definitely parallels here, but without spoiling too much, I do think that the creator still managed to make it his own thing. Also the armband people are def. not the villains here, but to be fair, in true fashion for attack on Titan, neither are the other side, which is a risk to take. There has been a lot of discussion on if attack on Titan is anti Semitic and you will find all opinions if you look for them. I honestly don’t think so, but some people say it is, probably just better to make up your own mind in the next season I do get the being uncomfortable part tho, it’s a very "oh shit" moment. And it probably won’t be the last one

Tea-Spin

The next three episodes were the episodes that put AoT on my top 3 anime of all time

Yusuf

I want the next episode right now! The revelations are crazy!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

minimonie__

it's the TRUTH!!

Joseph Sanchez

What you've seen up till now in AoT is essentially part 1 of the show.

CastSenpai

I CANT WAIT FOR NEXT EPISODE AHHHH

Jonathan Canfield

Now is when everything we thought we knew is flipped on its head.

Ever since I started watching your reactions I have been waiting for your reaction to Don't Go Outside Without Your A r m b a n d s. Did not disappoint

benj

It was just a Holocaust commentary the entire time.............

Xylen

Well, not JUST. Obviously it uses elements that are very reminiscent of that, but it has more to say than being an allegory for one specific historical event. And actually I think that's where some controversy may arise with this show, when people pigeonhole it into being just a Holocaust allegory (and thus everything in the show must be a statement on the Holocaust). Saying any more would get into spoilers though, so I'd just encourage people to keep an open mind and not get locked into that interpretation :)

Jiao

AoT is my sole top. Love to hear about your other 2.

minimonie__

I’m way too excited for ep 20.. I keep checking patreon just in case it’s an early upload 😂

Anonymous

hey Alex! Seriously no rush on the next episode, but I see you haven’t uploaded ep 20 yet so I hope you're doing alright! Please put yourself first!

Paul

Hope he is alright, he usually posts an update if it’s a late upload

Brimmy

I am \so late\ frick work man i've been missing so many THINGS so cuz i was watching AOT as it aired i was very excited for the basement i had the highest of expectations and then it kinda....diminished as we got closer to it....mostly cuz a friend knocked me down a peg cuz ya know manga readers know all and then it was just...books...backstory yes but it wasn't what i was expecting @.@ now off i go to binge the rest of the videos o.o

Hey I finally joined in support, it is weird thinking about it that those books were secure and yet insecure for someone someone to just brute force break the door and desk. However, the less people that know of its existence ensures its security.
