Early 360P Squad, let's go!!

This is the moment Historia officially became a top 3 character in the show for me. I love how they build you up to this moment and you genuinely don't know what choice Historia is going to make. Although I haven't seen your reaction yet and you may have never believed Historia would eat Eren so, but for me I was genuinely on the edge of my seat waiting to see what she would do. The way she tells Eren to shut up is so great too. Best Girl competition in this show isn't even a competition.

Nick

It's okay one day I'll convince you to become a Sasha best girl supporter

so the timeline is: 1. reiner and bertholdt attacked shiganshina 2. grisha ate Freida (I think around the same time the walls were attacked) 3. grisha went back to find eren after hearing the news about titans in the walls 4. Eren ate grisha and got both titan powers

LOVE HISTORIA IN THIS. When I watched it live I was like “hell yeah HISTORIA LETS GOOOOO” literally screamed haha. Love how she gives no shits now

Huge huge episode! I love the way Historia and Ymir have had sort of parallel yet opposite influences on each other. Ymir was inspired by her love for Historia to become a more caring and giving person, ultimately sacrificing her life. Historia, who originally was willing to accept death because it was what the people who put her in that situation wanted, was inspired by Ymir to to take control of her own life and live for herself, on her own terms (although at the moment she seems to have gotten a bit carried away, hopefully she'll mellow out). Also, I just have to shout out Armin for coming up with a strategy to fight the elite murder squad, led by an Ackerman, specifically designed to counter the Scouts, after seeing them in action just once for a total of less than 5 minutes and probably closer to 2

bl0odm1st

Just wanted to point out that Armin does have a human kill from when he saved Jean in the fast horse cart

Francesca White

man Historia is just such an amazing character, and such a good subversion of the usual anime trope of "cute submissive girl who only cares about others".

I can't wait for you to get more information and see what you get from it! I'm not sure how far ahead of this episode you are, but make sure to avoid watching the next opening of season 3!

Keegan Brakhage

things happening that aren't good for eren's mental health seem to be the second most common thing in this show. the most common being mikasa saying "eren."

a. tree

Honestly I'd say do whatever he wants, just avoid dwelling on it lol

Nick

Honestly it's amazing how many characters seem more one dimensional to someone watching the show for the first time, vs what they end up like. It's a great way to subvert expectations and make it more satisfying by revealing character traits over time like that. And the reason it works so well is because the seeds for those character traits are planted in plain view.

Historia, worst girl who ever lived is 1000 times more compelling than Goddess Christa.

Nick

I don't have anything to say other than your comments when Eren was screaming through is gag were so damn funny oh my god. "Yeah you tell him Eren" I was dying Also, these episodes were the ones I've been waiting for you to get to. AOT seems like it's only questions for so long, I feel like this season is a huge payoff, it feels earned imo. Additionally I can talk about more stuff that you mentioned early in the series, since it's not spoilers anymore. There were so many times you called that the titans were of a human origin, and your focusing on the class divisions shown in season 1, it was really hard to not say anything about how right you were lol. Final edit: As it turns out, I did have a lot to say.

Aaron Ong

I just wanted to give you a heads up (because I'm not sure how far ahead you are) that you should avoid watching the Season 3 Part 2 OP until Episode 19! The OP pretty much condenses the first arc, and can spoil a lot. You can listen to the song though! You'll like it lol. This episode is one of my favorites of all time. Historia becomes a badass and a character I appreciate much more, Eren hits a low point, a ton of info is dumped, and we get one of the best fights in the Season. I've been so excited to see you get here for awhile, but I'm even more excited for the future episodes. This show just keeps rolling, and you're rolling with them so well!

agoodwintv

Poor Eren. All he ever wanted to do was kill the titans. And now I'm not even sure that was his own idea...

Anonymous

we always talk about which characters are best girl, can we start talking about which characters are daddy™?? i'll go first it's kenny

KJ Gaona

I'm gonna strongly second this comment! Season 3 Part 2 is the only part of the show where I seriously think you should avoid watching the OP in order to avoid some actual spoilers. I know people said that about some of the earlier ones but this one legit has the actual scenes from the show essentially re-colored and edited like one of those AMVs people make on YouTube. Also yes Historia is excellent.

benj

nah its definitely whoever that hunk of abs was riding the Monkey titan at the end of Season Two

agoodwintv

Yeah at this point it feels like the show can eventually be divided into "before season 3 episodes 6 and 7" and "after."

agoodwintv

I can definitely see why. This episode does so much. It's basically everything: Story, character, action.

agoodwintv

Ah, and yeah I am going to avoid watching for now but will definitely listen. Wait, does that mean Red Swan is ending? Sad.

“When is she gonna eat him already!” Phrasing

meg

I can't help but feel really bad for Eren this episode, especially since he just found out how his dad died. He also never decided it would be better if he just gave in to the "enemy's" plans. It was a really big shift in his character and kind of sad to see the "I'll kill all the titans" Eren be so defeated. I also think that Eren and Historia have a lot of parallels especially during Eren's speech about how all the tragedy that happened after he first transformed was his fault and he should have never been given this power or, even farther, never been born at all. That probably resonated with Historia because she's always was neglected and hated for being born and felt like the world would have been better if she just didn't exist. I just love how all the characters are so complex. I feel like I need to rewatch this show 100 times because I'm picking up on things even when I watch your videos!!

Mahni Alizadeh

Part one of season 3 is probably the most underrated part of the show for me. Thankfully this is because part 2 of season three is so damn good it gets overshadowed

Ramon Cintron

In case you were still confused I think when Historia says I'll destroy everything she means the Status Queue because to keep things in the walls as they are and controlled she needs to be the one to inherit the power cause of hr royal blood. That's my opinion

Anonymous

I just wanted to say the timeline of Eren eating Grisha will get cleared up. Also Eren is having a BAD time isn't he ? Its like his world fell apart at the Fall of Shiganshina, he built a clear good/evil in his head to push forward, and now everything around his ideology is crumbling apart and so is he. I wonder how this will effect him.

KJ Gaona

Nah Kenny is papa, Levi is daddy. Erwin is Our Father. Hunky monkey is the one who helps us out of the dryer.

Amit

Wait till you get to the absolute banger of an intro in Season 4

KJ Gaona

Plus even though it doesn't feel like it for us, for them this is all happening directly after Hannes' death and Reiner/Beartoto's betrayal which was a series of critical moments that really broke Eren down a lot. He was already in a rough spot because of his failure to save Levi Squad and finding out about Annie. Despite the fact that most people characterize him as a generic hothead, he's actually quite different from that persona we project on him. He's a mentally and emotionally unstable/traumatized person who is being repeatedly battered and subjected to so much pressure and expectation and torture. He's on a path for sure. We'll see where it leads.

Amit

BTW I switched to "You should watch the ep 12 ending". Just rewatched it and you'll have 0 idea of whats happening without context and its a fun watch

agoodwintv

That is a lot more reasonable than the way I took it lol. I think it's because it comes on the heels of her saying that she's tired of humanity, or something like that.

Nick

I just rewatched it. I'm on the fence now. I was originally against it, but it's true that it's really cool and builds excitement for that next half of the season. Not really any spoilers that someone can completely decipher just from one glance, plus it's VERY fast. Unless you're going frame by frame you won't see everything. I guess we'll see how the battle ends!

Nick

Guys I happen to think you're forgetting Marco. He at least deserves the title of half daddy ...sorry not sorry

Jordan

I cant wait till you finish the season with all the backstories and excitement. But dont forget, armin was the first to kill one of kenny’s team before anyone else. He did it though to protect jean, cause if he didnt, jean would have been dead. I feel like thats why jean and everyone werent hesitating. They realized that they couldnt hesitate or else either themselves or their comrades would die.

benj

This is so untrue. I cannot stress enough how badly the episode 12 end credits spoil things in the second half of the season. I am quite confident that if we polled it, the "skip it" option would certainly win.

Alex Begley

For me personally, having skipped it my first time through, it made the major arc at the end of the season so much more tense just because I had absolutely zero idea what would happen after, outside of my general knowledge of show convention, but because it's AOT I wasn't even sure about that. It just kept me wondering how in the world things were going to turn out without any assurances for anything. It's the idea that just knowing that the scene itself exist spoils at least that aspect. I don't think anyone would be able to tell what's happening in that scene, but for all the scenes before it, he'll probably be wondering when it's going to come and know that certain things have to happen to get there... it's tough to describe as exact as I'd like because just doing so would encroach on spoilers, but I think for people who have watched the full show might understand where I'm coming from. I think watching it might be a fun little thing, but I also think it would be a bit cheap and gimmicky like a pop up scare in horror movies. Alex will be completely caught off guard and throw out wild theories I'm sure, but personally I like the idea of him sweating bullets in the midst of stuff just trying to figure it all out without any idea of anything at all. Again, I'm not even talking about his reaction to that specific scene (that'll be great either way) but everything leading up to it... Alright, I think I've finally said enough of my piece on this whole subject haha I'm not as against watching it as all I've wrote probably makes me come across but I do think it's worth giving an argument opposing it and explaining why I think that way. ultimately it'll be Alex's decision as to the way he'd prefer to watch it and I'll find enjoyment with whatever he decides

Anna Lena Ciplajevs

I agree! It’s just a cool scene. Yeah it might hint towards stuff, but it won’t ruin the show for you like some people say.

Yusuf

You think this episode was insane? Oh boy, you are in for a ride.

Jonathan Canfield

The creators put in that scene so they intended it to be seen. So it should be seen saying it spoils isn't true it may give you ideas of what are going on but the interesting bit is how it gets there.

Jonathan Canfield

Armin did get a kill to save Jean don't forget. Christ knows what its like to think you would be better of not being born.

Alex Begley

I’d be careful with that reasoning. In accordance with that, the season 3 part 2 opening would be ok to watch immediately because the creators put it there so it mustn’t have spoilers
