2 episodes left.... damn

Ruma Risto

"He's not toast, he's still bread" :'D

The show absolutely earns every “corny” and “tropy” moment. I also love that Greed always wanted friends because the first time we meet him he is surrounded by his chimera friends and he saw each and every one of them die.

ArmdVctr

The fact Roy can Clap Transmute makes him even more formidable.

"I wanted the chance to have friends like these" - Greed "Did you forget you were born of my extracted avarice? Anything you desire I can assure you I desired it first." - Father

"get up you novice" really hits different

Nick

You know, I would feel bad for Father based on this, except he allowed his own greed for other things such as ultimate power to blind him from seeing Hohenheim was trying to be a friend to him in the beginning. Hohenheim did so much for him, and he returned the favor by tormenting him, even if he saw it as an ultimate blessing, to never die. It caused him anguish, and he used him. It's his own fault. Still tragic though, imagine if he had turned out like the current Greed, instead of becoming the Father we know.

agoodwintv

Yeah that was there from the beginning. And Ling caught on to that real quick lol

Say

Yup, it's one of Ed's earliest words in the manga (against the Liore's priest) - and now we finally see its reprise. In a way his words are now truer than ever now.

I like to think when Mustang cheered on Ed he was facing the completely wrong direction.

I can’t wait for the next episode 😭

Yo Alex, I have a video series suggestion! I know I had mentioned before and when we talked about you writing a book. I mentioned compiling the footage of you just talking about life insights and what not from these reactions and posting that. Because I find myself rewatching your videos just for that content a lot. But I realize it would be a long process a lot of footage and editing so what if you turned it into a series where once a week you post a short video of insights from shows you’ve watched. That’d be rad as a series I think everyone would like! Plus since you would also continue to watch shows it could be an ongoing series for you. Idk just a thought!

Nick

I think the same thing. The bloopers have made it hard to watch some scenes normally without cracking up lol

agoodwintv

That is a great idea. I am planning to gradually go through all my videos to collect ideas. I will start doing that when I have some more time. I could definitely take some of the excerpts and put them together and post them one by one as I find them, assuming they make sense out of context :)

I love how in the sub Riza just says Ed's name and Funimation decided that "Kick his ass" was what they'd dub it as. I'm not mad about it though, haha. I remember being so shocked at Al's sacrifice. I knew vaguely that Ed would get his arm back but in this moment I had no idea how he'd get Al back too. It's just the perfect encapsulation of both Ed and Al's characters: two people who care about each other so deeply they're willing to do anything to keep each other safe. And trusting the other person to do what's right in the end.

Like you mentioned the shows earns the golden moments. And this scene where everybody cheers him on is so good. Lets be real other than being the youngest alchemists the brothers are not the strongest in fact i can count on one hand stronger people than them. And that's my favorite part of them being the main characters. Everyone puts their faith in him not because he has some natural gifted abilities that makes him strong but because he is committed in his gouls he is kind and each person there have learned to trust and respect him as a person and now they are able to put their trust in him. Normally that is a cheesy scene in this show it feels earned. No one can questions the brothers convictions. Can't wait for the last two episode reactions. Hint. Go grab some fucking napkins because you are going to tear up. Even just because its the end of the show. I want moooore.

The theme of this show (other than "equivalent exchange") is "keep moving forward". This line was said by many people in many situations in the show. And it actually comes from the creator Arakawa's own expectance. When Arakawa was very young, she got lost in the woods. As the sun gone down, she was in complete darkness. Then, she heard something moving in the bush. As Arakawa recalls, it might have been a wolf or even a bear. She ran, she ran like her life literally depended on it. All Arakawa thought in that moment was "I have to keep moving, or I'm dead!" And this event stuck with her ever since. It becomes her philosophy. In life, you need to keep moving forward, no matter what. Edit: Arakawa told this story in one of her interviews.

greed is the most protective character. maybe because he views all of his friends as his "possessions" haha. but its still sweet

I've been following your content since the early ATLA days. I watched FMA:B in real time many years ago. Seeing your heart twist in half for Al just broke me.

Al’s sacrifice has always been one of my favorite scenes. The music as his armor disintegrates while he’s there within the portal is amazing too. One thing I really enjoy about the show is how good the music is.

I've always loved scenes like everyone yelling Ed's name. Whenever there is a moment where people, no matter what usually divides them or whatever differences some may perceive, stand together and the music gets all epic and/or sad, it really gets me.

Rachel Keys

I've always loved how all Greed wanted in the end was a chance to have great and meaningful friends. Like, alot of greed is baseless greed because people think more money will fill the void they feel but, in my experience anyway, its friends and people close to you that fill that void. I feel like greed is a desperate and voracious need for acceptance and understanding from people who matter, who encompass 'your world'. Just my thoughts on it lol

I desperately want to feel the confidence to call God a novice

the outro xD Reiner, the stand-up dude, best pal, what could go wrong

Damn I was tearing up too watching Al sacrifice himself to give back Ed his arm. Actually seeing matured buff Ed with both real arms going full out with alchemy on Father is pretty surreal, but it can be hard to watch as Al's fate is still very much up in the air and uncertain. Just the thought of the brothers losing one another is too painful to even think about, you said it perfectly yourself, that it would be "worse than death" for Ed if Al sacrifices himself for him and never comes back.

agoodwintv

It reminds me of the scene in the desert when Ed is talking about his beliefs and the all the people present look at him in silent awe

I love how you said "normal fist punch" when Ed drops Father because I feel that punch represents so many different things. First I love how when it comes to actual physical fighting no matter how old Father is he is not a match against Ed unless he still retains some of his super strength, but when it comes to technique and prowess Ed has showcased multiple times that he is a talented fighter. Furthermore I am not surprised by how out of place Father is in a fist fight as I'd assume that he'd always seen it as something beneath him since he was accustomed to hold incredible power so I doubt he has any real fighting knowledge, he'd probably see it as a "lowly human thing". Which is why I love the fact that it was a simple punch because IT IS a "lowly human thing", I feel that it is the most human response Ed could have had when trying to protect the people he loves and what he cares about; no powers, no flashiness, just the first tool we've had to protect ourselves since the dawn of our existence. A classic.
