Today was tough, so thanks for making it better with this reaction. I personally dont mind kuviras redemption, although it felt a bit fast to me. But who knows, I'm probably just still a little upset that Azula never got a redemption arc of her own

agoodwintv

That is the real tragedy for sure. Hopefully we'll get an Azula redemption story someday. I like Kuvira's redemption in terms of her character growth and her decision to help out, but she definitely got off easy at the end considering everything that happened before.

Azula became too much of a villain in the comics while Kuvira became too much of a hero and was redeemed way too easily in this comic, I really didn't buy it how everyone just forgave her so easily like she was their new best friend. She definitely deserved at least some prison time and her working longer for her redemption to work, I mean Zuko took 2 seasons to change. And kuvira started at a much worst point than zuko. Just think it needed more time. You mentionned death camps, but i don't think they were more than prison/work camps.

Agreed. It kind of irks me that they gave a late 20’s/30 year old fascist a redemption arc over the 14 year old who was just as much as a victim to Ozai’s abuse as Zuko... but I digress. I like Kuvira don’t get me wrong, but it felt a little unearned. Still enjoyed the comic though

Dierane

Very off topic but Kuvira in Asami’s clothing is just...10/10 🏃🏾‍♀️💨

I think that although Kuvira's redemption was extremely fast, it's still a net positive for the story. To me the main beats of her "arc" feel more or less like they would have if they'd taken place throughout a 5th season of Korra. Some more time to flesh out the details (especially on her backstory) would have been great of course, but all things considered I'm happy with what they give us in these comics. ....But I'm also a sucker for redemption stories. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm honestly still 50/50 on the Kuvira redemption. I mean I admit I'm in the crowd that's annoyed that they haven't done anything with Azula while Kuvira's over here with a whole comic trilogy, but I can also acknowledge that I'm not 100% sure that Azula "needs" or even can be redeemed. She deserves help for sure, but I'm not sure if she's capable of redemption at this point. But with Kuvira, I don't know how to feel, cuz I think with how LoK ended, she was fine without it, she acknowledged what she did and was willing to accept punishment for her crimes, and I feel like the comics kinda backtracked on that a little. Now granted I still like Kuvira as a character a lot, but alas.

There’s a really sweet detail in the comics toph can’t see where to sign her name on the document and Korra is seen guiding her arm I think that’s super sweet

The only thing we know about the new Korra comic coming out is that it’s a picture of Korra standing over a moutian looking at the gates of azulon at the fire nation capital so that means it’s most likely taking place there and there’s somethings I really wanna see 1) the royal fire family: Izumi,Iroh II, zuko,Mai 2) possibly mako and Bolins mothers side of the family 3) asami’s mothers side of the family 4) another big bending feat from Korra since we haven’t gotten one in the comics yet

Ok I did not like the ending of this comic. They took Kuvira back to quickly it just felt so unnatural and weird and very very very rushed

hays collins

It’s funny first time I read this I thought the mind control was very weird and out of place but then when I reread it a few weeks ago I finally remembered about the brain washing in ba sing se

hays collins

Hey I gotta a question. Why are you wearing headphones while reading a comic haha

Emma Root

I think that picture was a fan made mock up. It shows korra as she was in the beginning of the series and the fire nation the same as it was in Aang's time. But would love for it to take place in the fire nation! I want to see those things too! https://korranews.com/post/632068342474276864/korra-will-return-in-a-new-graphic-novel-trilogy

I agree, I wish we could have spent a whole season on the redemption arc, but we have to accept the shorter format of these comics, and Im just happy they exists at all.

agoodwintv

I was wondering when this would be asked haha. I listen to music while reading for atmosphere.

agoodwintv

It does happen really quickly, that is true. Also the sentencing is very light. But, given the constraints of 3 comics, I think they did a decent job, especially considering we see Kuvira having some kind of epiphany about her actions at the end of season 4.

agoodwintv

Yeah I think Azula is still the biggest unresolved question mark for me in ATLA. I'd love a trilogy about her. I'm also unsure about whether or not she can be or would be redeemed. Actually I think that's part of why it's so interesting. There's a strong feeling like maybe she CAN'T, which makes me want to see what happens even more. Kuvira could have been fleshed out more for sure. I keep coming back to that lost flashback episode! This trilogy resolves things for her with the Beifong family for which the groundwork was not really laid in the show, except for the fact that they were at odds due to Kuvira's decisions. But limitations aside, I did enjoy this comic and I do like the redemption story :)

Aray YIKAMACI

I love that I can finally fully simp Kuvira

Life Mushroom

I think the reeducation camps were just prison camps for manual labor. Bad, but not necessarily equatable to ppl like Hitler
