In Hunter x Hunter 78, Very x Rapid x Reproduction, we should probably start to do something about this bug problem before it gets out of hand.

The evolution of the Chimera Ants is very interesting since their gaining of human intelligence does not necessarily lead to human empathy. It can just make something more efficient. Empathy is a trait that is taught, in my opinion. I usually think of the Chimera Ants as having alien morality at this stage. Also, it’s hard to teach something when it is born with the ability to kill everything around them. I feel bad for Gon, he needs to understand that it’s okay to retreat. There’s nothing inherently wrong with running away, but Killua and Gon have little experience of what to do in that kind of situation. Standing your ground can get you killed for nothing in return. The universe doesn’t care about good intentions. I personally would feel guilty if my choice got my friend killed, even if they stayed with me of their own volition.

Yeeeeeah I knew you were going to love this arc, but you're going to LOVE this arc

ODIS

"Is that his sister?" Lol I kinda doubt the 4yr old Reina was reborn as that scantily clad woman bug.

Antique-Item

Except the 5 year old boy was reborn as a buff dude so not sure what you’re getting at

I love that we're 3 episodes in and this arc has already prompted discussions about the nature of humanity. As I reread the manga along with these uploads I’d forgotten just how much they expanded the early parts of this arc. For example, the conversations at the airport and on the blimp weren’t in the manga. Same with the conversation two of the ants had about guns and names. Both ended up being great additions too. I’d always liked the breakneck pace of this part of the arc, but the manga is absurdly fast paced here lol. Feels extra appropriate given this episode's title.

9:40 "I'm just going to assume that joke was funnier in the original." -> It was not, no, haha. I'm impressed with the subtitles, actually. The original was far, far worse. The guy said "黒い噂の国には一苦労" ("KUROi uwasa no kuni ni wa hito-KUROu" -> a real pain for a country surrounded with black/dark rumors). Literally the whole joke is that 'kuroi' and 'hitokurou' both have 'kuro' in them. Har har.

Very brief aside, but this idea might possibly come back later, so just in case: the definition of a "fractal" is actually not related to self-similarity. It's true that the most famous examples of fractals like the Mandelbrot set and so on are at least partially self-similar, but the mathematical definition of a fractal isn't based on that. It's just something that has a 'non-integer dimension,' hence a fraction-al or 'fractal' dimension. This video explains it in a very intuitive way that might be satisfying for some break some time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gB9n2gHsHN4 Anyway, one way you can think of a key defining trait of fractals is that they have 'irreducible complexity.' You can zoom in and in and in and in, but you'll never get to a level of zoom where they stop being complex and 'rough' in their edges.

If you don't get my point, that's on you. They've said in this episode that the personality remains pretty consistent with whom they've been before. This female wearing a thong and having huge tits clearly vain about her own physical appeance is Reina's personality? Colt's personality is very similar to Kurt's. And despite Colt's body looking grown, Zazan is sexually mature. Not the same thing.

I don't see how a more complex organism than humans emerging would be counter to the point that humans are god-made. According to religions, all species were made by god, from the most to the least complex. It would be just another species.

idk... she wanted to marry her brother not even step brother, girls a born freak

I love how you mentioned how the new enemy just being ants, animals, mindless monsters, would make it good for Gon and Killua to show off their full power without the ethical worries of killing people... And then immediately, the chimera ants evolved to be intelligent haha

agoodwintv

You're right, just that the significance of being on the apex, the ones doing the most creating, might be lost

agoodwintv

Great video I can't say I understood the math 100% but I'm going to be thinking the concepts of this one for a while

agoodwintv

I was waiting for this :D But he laughed at his own joke so that makes it funny. I noticed later that Gon laughed at his first bad joke in their introduction, and completely ignored this one

agoodwintv

Yeah it's tricky and I don't mean to oversimplify it. I would blame myself if a friend followed me into something dangerous and was harmed. That's the natural instinct anyway. But looking at it in the other direction, if a friend was going into something dangerous and didn't give me the choice to go along, and then got harmed, that would be just as awful if not worse.

I suspected so. But before animals, there were plants, and before mammals there were dinosaurs, and before primates, whatever is considered to be the top organism. Whatever comes after, it'll come the same way we did, by chance or by forced displacement. "God created Creation for humans" can be interpreted as both (i). humans are No.1 and (ii) humans are given a chance to do something. If we f* up, it's not god's fault. Free will and everything. I'm more of a soft agnostic myself.
