I Reached my Goal... and Quit my Other Job! (Patreon)

Wow! I can hardly believe it, over 560 patrons have joined this Patreon campaign, and my long-term goal of $3000 per month has finally been achieved! When I started this page a year ago, I always secretly hoped that one day I could eventually quit my real-life day job and work on making video games full time. And now, thanks to all of you, I finally did exactly that! I quit my full-time job this month-- today was my last day. Now I can afford to work on VRChat world development full time! Plus I can continue to spend more time tending to the ever-growing discord community.

Today has been very emotional for me. It feels so liberating to finally be able to make my way in the world doing what I love: Creating fun games and making people happy. To all of my patrons, thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to shift my life in this new and exciting direction. Your support is very generous, and so far I always wished I had more hours in the day to make games for you and make your donations worthwhile. And now I have much more time during the day to do that! I think of you all whenever I pay the bills, buy groceries, or even wake up in the morning. I am just so deeply grateful for all your support.

Where do we go from here? Well, I guess this is the “official” start of my new career, but in a strange way, it’s mostly just business as usual! I have two worlds that are almost complete that should be coming out soon: Kitchen Cooks Versus Mode (which includes an update for the old Kitchen Cooks world as well), plus a new PvP hide-and-seek type game which involves bamboozling your opponents and using unique avatars. I hope you will love both when they are done soon.

After that, who knows? I have a long list of ideas, and when I finish one project I usually just pick whichever idea I am passionate about doing. You know me, I don’t really have a planned roadmap. I just go with the flow and do my very best along the way.

I will say this though, I’ve been thinking a lot about what to do for Murder 5. It’s been just over a year since I started this patreon page, and almost a year since Murder 4 was released. I have a feeling it’s coming soon. What new and exciting setting will it take place in? How will the map layout be different? And what new weapons and other traps will the murderer use? Well, you’ll have to wait and see, and in the meantime I really think you will like my other new game worlds coming soon.

I also put my “Prop Hunt” world on standby in the Spring due to technical problems. The new VRChat client and SDK updates might have fixed some of those issues! So I definitely want to try fixing my Prop Hunt prototype, and if everything is working as intended, that might actually get finished… yay!

What’s my next big goal? I’m actually not sure. I think building a solid portfolio of VR game projects will hopefully lead to even bigger and greater things in the far future, but for now, I’m just happy to live my life and work on what I’m passionate about. I’ll keep you all updated on any long-term plans.
