The purpose of the porch out the kitchen of 264B110 is to allow for the inclusion of a porch rail, the purpose of which is to hang wet dishtowels and cool pies. The kitchen window to the porch is there to observe approaching pie-stealing hobos

Thank you so much for these "looking around" posts. I came for the McMansion humor, but I'm staying for the architecture. I was walking in an older neighborhood today, and suddenly had words to describe the houses I was seeing. They're post-1900, but undeniably side-gabled. I know all my dormer styles now, and rooflines...as a word nerd your posts have been such a treasure trove for me. Please keep it up!
