I mean, it's not the entire reason, but it's still hilarious. Here's hoping the likes of Tomb Raider and Deus Ex are in better hands. Not hard, since Square Enix's hands are covered in poop!

I'm sad to see SE sink this way. I have some really rosy memories of my first playthrough of FF7 and although in this case - apologies if this sounds like a tired trope - the people I teamed with make the bulk of the good memories, the game itself being secondary, of FFXI too. Some of the Crystal Dynamics/EIDOS titles also made enough of an emotional impression to create lasting memories. Now in my mind I am starting to see SE as I see Konami, and that is really not a good thing. The 'reimagining' of FF7 seemed to be an auspicious one however with every release and bit of news since that feeling gets further drowned. I guess there are no such thing as victimless sinkings, I'm just really sad to see the bloated, grey corpse of SE washing up ashore after the NFTs finally sank to the bottom of the ocean.

I love how the dog booked it out of there when Steph started cackling.

Definitely the people out there who still remember the days when Eidos we're on top are cheering harder than most. At this point I really don't see how Embracer could do worse. I don't think Square every really understood what made these franchises so popular in the first place. Then again neither did Eidos.

Regarding these news, I'm honestly a bit worried about PCF and the Outriders IP. I know, that's a minority opinion and that Steph put the game on their "worst games of 2021" list, and not without reason... but I liked it quite a bit (so much that I consider it one of the best games of 2021, and I'm pretty excited about the upcoming DLC) and to know that it's still with SE while that company is diving head-first into that NFT dumpster fire...

This seems like a very wise and savvy choice *wink* I sure hope Konami and other companies I dislike don't notice this valuable, profitable idea and sell off IP they aren't making games out of for slick crypto profits *wink wink*

GreenHammerBro

Really hope those games IP sold off does not go to EA, T2, ubisoft, ActiBliz *vomits* and the many other bad companies, not just employees keeping their jobs.

Your audio for the outdoor recording is better for this episode! What changed?

Said it before, but "The Quiet Man" wasn't a one-off, it was a warning. Square has always loved to use Eidos games as scapegoats when their titles underperform. Remember when the returns of Hitman and Tomb Raider were considered "disappointing," despite selling millions of copies, while nothing was said from them about the absolute drubbing the much-hyped Final Fantasy XIII was getting in both sales and reviews?

I hope this means we'll finally get that planned Mankind Divided sequel that Jim was talking about in that "Why Square Enix is Carving it's Games to Pieces" JQ. XIII did get some positive reviews though and it did sell pretty well.

Eidos did OK, i'm hoping Embracer gives us another 25 to Life game, that's the one Eidos game that most seem to have forgotten about.

I liked Outriders as well and I think Jim would've liked it more were it not for the constant connectivity issues, that game was definitely rushed out WAY too soon.

I hear Konami is actually getting back into doing more AAA games with a remake of Silent Hill 2 coming on PS5.

they didn't, they went to Embracer group which is mostly known for being the owners of THQ Nordic.

That would be cool if that happened. Until then, I'll believe it when it is released, not when the preorders go up.
