A movie in which Billy Zane outclasses Ben Kingsley and Meatloaf steals the show. Uwe Boll's tits n' guts travesty is... quite surreal.

I re-watch this from time to time to remind myself that, no, it really is that terrible. Though still better than BloodRayne II and BloodRayne: The Third Reich.

Jim, you should play BloodRayne 2. It improved drastically from the first game and even has an interesting cast of characters besides our bloody dhampir. And although a very cliche villain, Kagan is a lot more colorful than that of Kingsley's phoned-in performance. Rayne is one of my favorite characters in all of gaming, so you can imagine my disgust of this movie, this atrocity. I was sixteen when it came out, and even being a raging hormonal teenager, that sex scene was disturbingly off-putting. I'm afraid that the franchise's lack of interest for a true BloodRayne 3 (not that spinoff indie drop after years of waiting) is do heavily in part to Uwe Boll. Because unlike AAA franchises that he's touched, like Far Cry, BloodRayne never achieved worldwide acclaim in the gaming industry. But it has a good cult following. It made an impact on a good chunk of gamers. But without that mainstream interest, I feel that after the damage to the IP that this shithole of a movie cause, Majesco didn't feel it was profitable enough for another full retail release. . And Betrayal felt like they were just testing the waters to see if consumers still cared about BloodRayne, but this wasn't the right way to do it. It's been about five years since Betrayal. Over a decade since BloodRayne 2 and we can't see even a dying ember of the franchise left. I've given up hope that we'll ever truly see its return.
