Marvel's Avengers has only been out for a matter of weeks and it's already going the way of Battleborn, or Evolve, or Anthem, or indeed any other failed "live" game.

The comparisons to Anthem are most apt - a cynically motivated loot-based "AAA" disaster with an embarrassing dip in player numbers soon after launch. It turns out not even the Marvel name can keep players attached to a sinking ship.

Can we finally admit the "live service" gold rush has been like every gold rush? Can we just admit that the few success stories do not outweigh the mountain of failure surrounding them?

Sad Roger is how I feel about the unending barrage of live service games. I liked the video.

Bad news about yggdrasil - It was actually in the amazon and has already been cut down to make way for an intensive beef farm. I liked the video too.

Ironic how they call them "live service games" when they die within months at best.

I hate how no one seems to have learned from history. Does anyone remember how many MMORPG’s tried to be the next World of Warcraft? Or how many FPS’s tried to be the next Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare?

Ever since evolve, I basically refuse to buy multi-player games within the first month of launch. I remember my friends loving evolve for a week and then 95% of the player base left. Even going free to play couldn't fix it. From what I heard, it was a good game. I immagine what happens to bad games.

I never got into WOW, but I was big on the Bioware copycat SWTOR. I sank way too many hours into that, including recently. The thing that just kills me is that there are so many design problems that are only there because they were chasing WOW. The Bioware team had loads of ideas for stories and characters, decent pacing, and character design... but it's all buried under uninspired MMO nonsense.

Im a fan of Jim matching his lipstick to his ties!

I liked this video. And I loved Jim. And Justin.

I think that opening might be my favorite out of all the ones you've done. Anyways, congratulations to Crystal Dynamics for managing to set the new record for how quickly a live service dies. Let's see if we can get it down to a few days next time!

Now to wait for the handful of people making a trillion posts about how it was only the unfaithful or disloyal player base that made it fail or something like that.....

Jim I remember your initial reactions to this game. You are dead to rights, every time. I think I recall you heard it was Crystal Dymanics and you were keen, then when it was later announced it was a live service, you called it straight away. WHY WON'T THEY LISTEN TO YOU, JIM. WHY DON'T THEY ASK YOU, FIRST?
