Boosters are a common form of microtransaction across the videogame landscape. XP Boosters are easily the most common, but currency boosters and other forms progress speeders are out there as well.

They're pretty insidious, as we can easily see with Resident Evil: Resistance, Call of Duty, and the hundreds of other games using them.

Aside from the usual manipulation involved with microtransactions, boosters exert a level of control that keeps players hooked to a game so they can maximize their investments.

And screw loot boxes being in a Resident Evil game, by the way.

Agree with you on xp boosters as soon as I saw the amount of monetization in ACO I quit and never played it again. Personally I thought Raid mode was great, and RE6 was a really fun game. Pretty much all of it’s multiplayer game modes were surprisingly good, and that’s coming from someone who hates any multiplayer that’s not a co op campaign. In sharp contrast to you, I see RE7 as the low point in the series. It lacks enemy variety, it ditches all the characters I was invested in, and tells an uninteresting story. Ethan is like a found film movie character, all he does is curse and act scared. As a huge fan of RE4, I figured that you could see how 7 was a disappointment to some people. I see RE7 as a great horror game, but a terrible RE game. Capcom’s recent releases have been fantastic, and exactly what I look for in a resident evil game. Unfortunately I seem to be one of the few people that wasn’t disappointed by RE3’s length. I’ve heard RE8 will be like 7, if that’s true I won’t waste my time and money on it. Now, there’s nothing wrong with having an alternate view of the series, just thought you’d be interested to know a perspective from a long time fan of your work, and of the RE series that happens to be the polar opposite. In any case, screw covid 19, and I hope you’re staying safe in this hell scape!

Seriously, 100% on board with things like this being booted from games. Nickle and diming you to death with things like this to keep you addicted is literally the definition of addiction-peddling.
