Anthem. Oh, Anthem. BioWare's ill-fated attempt to jump aboard the "live service" bandwagon is yet another cautionary tale the "AAA" industry won't ever learn from.

With an obscenely troubled development, a handful of failed promises, and a legacy of embarrassing headlines, Anthem will go down in history, but not for the reasons BioWare hoped.

It certainly won't be spoke about with the same reverence as Bob Dylan... which is what BioWare actually expected.

As someone or other once said: "Let's all laugh at an industry that never learns anything, tee hee hee."

Please Bioware, don't let UA eat you!

Something occurred to me while watching this. This game might have originally been conceived as some poor game dev's darling. Someone somewhere with an artistic vision originally thought of this game and wanted it to be great. Then EA's corporate execs got hold of that person's idea and re-worked it, changed it, and turned it into the game as a service it was published as. That's sad.

I wonder if these live services still make so much money that Anthem still becomes a proft overall ,Edit: Nevermind, just got to the part in which Jim says Anthem is biowares biggest launch to date. FML, hate this shit.

Did it though? It feels like the project was doomed before EA even got involved.

Yeah. Triple A industry is rapidly approaching that point where quality of the product does not even matter anymore. Just feed the hype enough beforehand, sell lots of copies at launch, maybe snag a few whales while doing that, and then when the game dies off, just start the process all over again with a different game.

Anthem! Meh, I'll go back to Star Wars: The Old Republic. Brahahaha!
