Unity has an image problem, but who is to blame? According to at least one developer, it's the media's fault. Fake news!

But Unity, now linked heavily to some of the worst games in the world, really doesn't seem to care, that might be the real heart of the issue.

Well, as one of the people that bought For Honour, I enjoyed it at first till it turned to shit. I have a long ass list of grievances but we can ignore all that in the face of the most useful piece of info with regard to player numbers. During the betas, and at launch, when you went to your friend screen it told you the number of concurrent online players... I first noticed that change to Friends online about three weeks in. The last straw was the new Characters. I took a screen shot of the ninja guy with the Buy for 15000 steel thing and posted a tweet saying Fuck You-bisoft and uninstalled it right after.

What is the side-scrolling game at 7:45?

Hey Jim. Does it make any difference to you (financially or otherwise) where I/we watch your videos? I.E. Here or on youtube? take care, best wishes and keep being you (pretty please with sugar on top) ;-) A bunch of thumbs up for the 'Allo 'Allo intro :-D

Those videos are embedded as iframe. Technically you're visiting youtube and the channel get's the view and ad money - if the series would be monetized, which they aren't.

I loved 'Allo "Allo! It was brilliant! :-D

Dr. Judge, Private Eye

Far greater problems plagued that game including: P2P matchmaking, so if the Host was losing, he could ragequit without consequence and it ended EVERYONE'S game (that it probably took ~4 minutes to launch into) and, of course, pay-to-win equipment. Keep right on blocking that guy, he's got equipment that gives him 50% block pierce. I've never dropped a multiplayer game I was more excited about faster. Somehow Injustice 2, which sounded sleazier on its face, turned out to be completely fine with stat-adjusting equipment.

What is this strange feeling where I don't agree with every word of the JimQ? If I look at Unity as a tool, in the right hands it does good work. In bad hands, well, it's bad. If you wanted to squelch the bad just make the barrier to entry bigger with more $$$. In my mind, 'buyer beware' rings nowhere more true than the gaming industry... but that's why we have folks like you eh Jim?

I didn't actually know that Unity had a seriously bad rep due to the fact that people used the free version for terrible crap. I think my reaction is similar to a lot of others, where it's hard to imagine how something that is just a tool could be such a major turn off to people. Bizarro Unity physics are the worst, though.

Unity is a great tool. Which means less than great people can use it. I don't think that custom engines are a sign of quality so much as a sign that they probably won't run on my computers. But Unity will.

It really was a toss-up of who would use "fake news" first between Ubisoft and EA. Also, 10 denars says someone will construe "You motherfucker *knife-stabbing*" as a threat...
