A new promotional video for DarkestDungeontest 2 is out

The general style is still similar to the first generation,

This is a good thing,

But there are a few things to care about...

1. Using Unity, I don't know whether to seal the package...

If so, MOD production will be more troublesome

2.3D aspects

It seems that quite a few 3D models are used in the promo...

If the game actually uses 3D models in many irreplaceable places,

It may be more difficult to make the character mod

(Although if spine is used well,

It can also replace some 3D... it depends on the specific situation)

I watched the animation several times carefully, and it seems that most of the enemies in front have no 3D effect.

Only the few enemies that fight with the protagonist have 3D models.

Generally speaking, it may still be a situation where the use of 3D is "limited to a certain extent"...

If 3D is fully used, it may drive away more than 95% of mod authors.

The rest can only make some texture replacements and system modifications.

It is difficult to make a real new mod

(After all, 3D modeling to make a usable character is too difficult for individual producers

Even if it can be done, the production cycle will become very long)

Considering that Red Hook is generally a small production team,

I think they should not do this...

But it is also possible that Epic’s exclusive contract brought them a lot of money.

Let them order a large number of 3D models by outsourcing...

I hope this will not happen. After all, the use of 3D models may not necessarily improve the picture effect.

But it will actually increase the difficulty of mod production...

3. Release on Epic... This means that the release of steam may be delayed.

The improvement of the creative workshop design will be slower...and it is still a troublesome place

As for the proportions of characters, it is difficult to be sure that it will be the same Q version of the previous generation.

Or normal proportions, after all, in a generation of games,

The ancestors and workers in the movie are also normal proportions

But the important characters and enemies in the game are all Q version.

However, it is said that the pictures in the promo are all interceptions of the elements actually used in the game.

In those 2 generations, the probability that the enemy and us are in a normal ratio is still relatively high.

But it may also show the normal ratio only in aspects such as avatars or information.

Q version displayed during battle?

Only when the next beta version appears.

A normal proportion of enemies and heroes can contain more details,

But it will also appropriately raise the threshold of mod production...

The overall scene and background style will also be changed,

In that case, many finished products of the first generation will not be directly used on the second generation...

The more pleasant point is that the enemy’s style still maintains the hardcore and dark style.

Some designs are even scarier than a generation

It’s a shame that there are no new heroes,

However, this also means that some hero mod designs for the first generation can continue to be used in the second generation mod.

It saves some time to design new styles, um...

Finally, even if the second generation comes out, the first generation of mods can continue to be produced...

It’s like Red Alert 3 is out, but Red Alert 2 is still liked by many people (such as me)

There are still people making and playing the Red Alert 2 mod...

So don’t worry too much, just keep waiting

I would suggest you don’t necessarily need to jump into modding for the next game as soon as possible (especially givens these conditions). There is still much of the town left to “beautify” in the brutal but hopefully not so violently brutal way you do so well.
