It's been exciting to see the number count of patrons shooting up, and finally hit 600 patrons today! Let me just say a warm welcome to everyone that joined since the last milestone post I put up (which wasn't even two weeks ago!)

I hope you enjoy reading the thoughtful (and sometimes bonkers! - yes Jedi_Khan I'm looking at you!) comments that patrons have left up on the site so far. The story speculation threads defintely make for fascinating reading.

I'll look to add more content to the site over the coming few months, and in particular I'm planning to try and find an artist who can create some pics of the girls and/or ships etc.

Oh, and I hope you enjoy chapter 71! :-)

Congrats

Grimlakin

Well done Tefler... Sad to see only 800k more words to go... Then again this could be like. That million word prediction you made before. ;)

VT

Congrats Tefler. It's already been one heck of a journey since I first stumbled upon chapter one. Seeing the story develop, witnessing the vast improvements to your writing and storytelling, and then the fully deserved 'move' and growth of your patreon following. It almost makes me proud to have been 'involved' (very passively) from the start. Keep up the good work!

Congrats Trfler!!!

Great Chapter!!

Congratulations! You are an inspiration, as I have just started on patreon. Good work.

Jedi Khan

Hey, Jedi, is he talking about us? No, he's talking about you, not us, ghost crazy. But I'm just a figment of your imagination, nothing more than a voice in your head. How would he know about me? Because you're a very vocal voice in my head. Anybody can hear you, not just me. What, really? Hi everyone! I'm the voice in Jedi's head driving him crazy for more 3SM! And what's your name? Um...good question. I'm surprised you haven't given me a name yet, Jedi. I have: crazy. But Jedi, that's not a name! Plus I'm not crazy, you are! No, I'm perfectly sane. You're the voice in my head trying to make me crazy.

Morningfrost

In crazy's defense, Jedi...if you weren't crazy, there wouldn't be a voice in your head. ~Morningfrost

Morningfrost

$964 per chapter already, only another $536 until we can start thinking about Tefler writing full-time! :) Comes to a gain of...I wanna say around $80 in the week since the last time I put up a number lol. Except last time I didn't put the exact number down so I'm working off recollection (won't make THAT mistake again...). I've got roughly 11 weeks left on my prediction, with Jedi having a whopping 14 (booooo!!!). Anthony Kester only has 9 weeks to go for his prediction to come true. Who else is in on this? Post your predictions on how long before we get Tefler to $1500 and writing full-time! ~Morningfrost

Morningfrost

Started up a spreadsheet for this just for my own amusement, based upon the number of weeks guessed and the date that guess was made. My goal date is 5/12, Anthony Kester's is 4/28, and Jedi comes in at a whopping 6/4 (booooo!!!). So jump on in peeps. Give me your prediction in days, weeks or months, doesn't matter to me. I'll get them entered in and we'll see who comes the closest! As a prize...I'll campaign Tefler to send the winner the un-edited version of the first chapter after we hit the goal when he sends it to the editors, so that winner would get the chapter a couple days before everyone else. I make no promises that Tefler will actually DO that, but I'll certainly try and make a convincing case that he should play along :) ~Morningfrost

CJ Mora

Congratulations, Tefler!!! I remember reading chapter 1 on Lit, and was instantly captivated by the story's originality and how well it was written. Soon, it became the highlight of my day to find a new chapter posted, and I'd read and re-read them (waiting for the next chapter to post) until I could almost recite them in my head. After a while, it was the only reason I kept going back to the site, hoping a new chapter would appear and I have to admit that I found several other authors whose work is also top-notch...but they didn't draw me back like 3SM did. Your creativity is inspiring, and I can't wait to read what John and the gang (or is it a "gaggle"?) are up to next!!! Morningfrost: My prediction is 3/28. I think the word is getting around, and it won't be long until 3SM is providing Tefler with...well, three square meals. :-)

Anonamoose

I would love to say 4/20/17 (my birthday as well) but i say probably 6/1/17.

Gratz Tef! Just so happened that I doubled my pledge per chapter Friday morning, and your Outstanding chapter 71 showed up that very afternoon! I'm about to curl up with my coffee in hand and enjoy reading it again. I thank you for your fine work and the many hours of enjoyment your talent has provided. I look forward to many more!

End of March...

Morningfrost

I was actually just thinking about how long it'd take us to hit the $1500/chapter goal, not when Tefler will actually quit his job lol. I know that once we DO hit the goal, it might take a couple of months for the income to be stable enough that Tefler feels comfortable quitting his job and writing full-time, so I'm just looking to take predictions on how long it takes us to get to the goal. ~Morningfrost

Morningfrost

I'm just looking at predictions as to when we'll hit $1500 per chapter. Sure you want to go with 6/1? ~Morningfrost

Anonymous

The way things are going I'll guess St. Patrick's day. That's 3 weeks ish... but I think it'll happen.

Anonymous

well north go 600 already, closing in fast on 615. :-) ...told ya so back at 400, too. gratz.

Great news! I just wanted to let you know that your writing style and craft has made me a reader of yours for life so I intend to carry on pledging for a very long time, for TSM and your next epic story. I thought I'd say this as you're considering doing this full time so you must be wondering if the momentum will continue after TSM is complete. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way!

Anonymous

It will be $1,000 a chapter soon

Morningfrost

It looks like Tefler already has his next story idea in the books. I went and checked Literotica yesterday based on some comments that others had made, and the first chapter of "Setting Sail on a Black Sea" was posted last May, but the story was placed on hold while Tefler writes Three Square Meals. I don't know if the Patreon income will continue the same massively upward trajectory after Three Square Meals is completed, but as long as Tefler continues to write I think it'll continue to go up. So basically, he should be able to make a pretty good income for as long as he's able to come up with ideas for stories. Plus, Tefler's hinted that there's still about 800k words left to write for TSM, so we're looking at at least another 25-30 chapters until this epic ends. ~Morningfrost

Wait I saw something at the end of last month, namely Patron numbers decreasing. I want to see if this month the same will happen.

Tefler

It happens when cards are declined. The numbers go back up again as soon as people resolve any problems with their card provider.

Anonymous

I just joined recently, when does the pledged money get paid? After each chapter or the end of the month?

Anonymous

Thanks for letting me know

DemonHunterCole

Tefler, just wondering, now that you are being compensated for the genius that you are, have you or are you planning on rewarding your editor(s) for their hard work? Just curious.

Jedi Khan

Getting to read the chapters before anyone else should be reward enough. Shut it ghost crazy. *ahem* While I do somewhat agree that being able to read the new chapters first before even the Patrons is a reward unto itself, it would still be common courtesy to offer some form of compensation given the time and wonderful effort the editors put in, even if they are volunteers, especially now that the story is making money, a fact that at least one of the editors has got to be aware of.

Jedi Khan

Passed the $1000 mark! Whooo!!!

Jedi Khan

Okay, math time. I'm not much of a math wiz, so my calculations might be a bit off. If the average pledge per patron remains constant at it's current amount (~$1.60 per patron), we would need 937.5 patrons to hit the $1500 goal. At our current rate of patron growth (~10/day), we'll get to our goal in about 93 days, or a little over 3 months. Of course, this is all assuming that the per patron pledge amount remains relatively constant, as it has over the last few weeks since Tefler setup the pledge tiers. If the per patron pledge average were to suddenly jump to say $2, we'd hit our goal in about 75 days at our current patron growth rate. Ah, but wait! We're already a good ways towards the number of patrons we need, so if we subtract the number of patrons we already have from the number we need, and then divide the difference by the estimated patron growth rate, we get just over 30 days and 12 days respectively, at the example per patron pledge estimates.

Wookey

Or Telfer could add a new $25/story category and many, like me, who have paid $0 for first 70 chapters would upgrade as s thank you.

Wookey

Looks as though pledge growing $75 per day. Suspect that might get there somewhere between posting of Ch 72 and 73 so pre April.

Jedi Khan

Yes, the current math puts it at somewhere between the Ides of March (middle of March for those not a familiar with Shakespeare) and late March.

Wookey

Have tried to boost Tefler's numbers by pointing out the advantages of supporting him via Patreon in the comments section on Ch 70 of Literotica. Will see if that brings it closer to St Patrick's Day, Jedi Khan.

Jared

Hey Tefler, Congrats on hitting the 1k mark. Keep up the awesome writing.

Evan

630 for 1006! Congratulations, Tefler! That's 36000 per year at 3 per month, already!

Jedi Khan

Hey, Tefler and everyone else: Literotica has started their annual Special Categories contest for 2016, and among the categories is Most Influential Writer. I've nominated Tefler for this category, and I hope others will to, as well as for any of the other categories. You can find information about the contest and the categories here: http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=1406122 You'll need a Literotica account to submit a nomination, and if you already have one to post comments on Tef's stories there, it'll work for the Lit forums where the nominations happen.

Tefler

Cheers Jared. I plan to keep writing for a long time to come!

Tefler

I know! Amazing how fast that's crept up. I remember being excited when I reached 50 patrons. :-)

Tefler

Looks like we have a Nostradamus in our midst! Any idea what this week's lotto numbers might be? :-)

Wookey

Will Telfer break 650 today? Better make a few more Patreon references on Literotica everyone.

Anonymous

When he posts the latest chapter he will get more. The quality is there.

Anonymous

So Tefler! Please post updates for new chapter more frequently...

Anonymous

telfer, some one hacked my card,so i got a new one tried to pay my pledge but they won't take my card,it's good because i paid other bills with it,tried about ten times ,called the bank and they said nothing is wrong with it,i tried to get in touch with patreon but i can't a answer from them,so what do i do?

Tefler

Hey Stanislaw, Patreon are probably just snowed under because its the first day of the billing cycle, so they're having to deal with loads of queries at the moment. If the bank says the card is fine, then it sounds like it's a problem at the Patreon end. Hopefully it'll either correct itself by tomorrow, or you might need to try speaking to them again. Sorry I can't give you any more useful advice. :-(

Wookey

I think that is a bit rough on Tefler. He is doing a great job for not a huge financial reward. We should be thankful he has not done a Lien Geller with his Missing Dragon series and stopped just when it became so good that you did not want it to stop.

Wookey

Tefler, would be interested to see a graph of number of Patrons and pladges over time.

Tefler

I'll create a post to show you. It's quite interesting to see the growth.

Wookey

Yippee, Tef hit 650 today

Jedi Khan

After some math, we only need 212 more patrons to reach our $1500 goal!

Jim lynch

Tefler why has your amount gone down it was 1200 the other day now it's down to 1005 are some people cancelling before chapter is released then pledging afterwards so they don't get charged it's bullshit if they are you should try keep an eye out for them and ban them for it

Tefler

It's okay, the charts I linked are from the Patreon dashboard, and include the pledges from people who chose to pledge/month rather per chapter. The number on the main page is the per chapter figure. The number drops sharply at month end during the billing cycle, as cards are sometimes declined.

Jim lynch

Oh ok my brain went the wrong way again lol any news on 72 yet my finger nails have gone now I'm chewing bone arghh

Wookey

Today is 700 day. Well, 2 to go.
