Tefler: One erratum: page 26, para 7: The girls all nodded their agreement, then Dana said, “One last thing, John... We need to rejoin the Invictus so that the stealth field to [will?] cover the whole ship, otherwise a sensor scan will pick up the metal in whichever half isn’t concealed.”

TF4EVA

OMG - very emotional. Where was Jade during the debrief. Johns story of the ancient ones I thought might have sparked something for Jade. How did John and the pride connect to the maintenance bots and little one? looking forward to part II

Wombat

Wow

Anonymous

Sometimes I hate that I read so fast

Anonymous

Damn speed reading.

Tefler

I've updated the post with the second half. There's another short scene I'm thinking about adding, which I'll do tomorrow. :-)

Cignal

Outstanding, thanks Tefler

Anonymous

It's fantastic, thank you for going back to the Stellaris stories after the fights, it helps with the overall context and storyline

Timtom12

Error: Tom and Mason scene, 'Tom dodged the flying try'

Anonymous

Why do write/say me & Jade instead of correct English “Jade & I’ve been trying to 🔨 that lesson into my Grandsons for years

John P

I was with this 100% until the scene with Tom and Beth. Really? Literally 30 seconds to go from "we shouldn't be seen together, I'll never get Mace to believe me" to "stay the night with me, we won't do anything"? That makes no sense at all. Beth staying in Tom's room for "protection" stands in direct conflict with Tom's desire to prove that there's nothing between him and Beth, and if Anna finds out it will ruin Tom's credibility. And *Tom literally just said that*. The scene makes no sense at all. Even if Beth is actually scared there's no need for her to stay with *Tom*. The rest is good, but on the subject of Larn's empire... are there actually enough Maliri to crew all those ships?

John P

Also very happy that you didn't just immediately undo Faye's death. I was worried for a moment.

Horny Rhino

get some rest Tefler.

Anonymous

Great, as usual, Tefler. I like the way you've tied in Faye's potential return. Thank you for not just wiping her out. I get the idea that though you'd been planning that for some time, it still wasn't easy.

Anonymous

Wonderful chapter, can't wait to see the second half.

Taco1085

wow, thank you what a great first half....

Horny Rhino

already can't wait for 123!!!

Alphaonetango

Well. See you in 15-20 days. I can’t wait!

Hendrix Morton

Thank you!!! Great read...you never disappoint...Now the waiting cycle begins again....

Alphaonetango

For the woman/man power question. Most likely they will have the people to crew them. The biggest problem is training the crews on the new systems. That would be the problem that is most pressing. Beyond that they might have to bring the males back into the service to fill in and there is always some good high-jinks Tef can throw in with that.

Anonymous

Error: "John sailed deep into Kintark Space to look for his parents..." I thought Arcadia was deep in Kirrix space...?

Grimlakin

I think this will be interesting. I think Faye put a hit of herself in each of the boys and more in the maintenance bot.

Jedi Khan

Rahn said he used Mael's gate to bring his fleets through in order to attack Mael, right? So if Mael's gate is next to his throne world in the heart of his empire, how did Rahn hijack the gate and then get his fleets to Mael's borders without Mael knowing about it? There are two possibilities: 1) the gate can set an exit point anywhere within several hundred thousand light years, which would allow it to remain in the heart of Mael's empire but deposit Rahn's invading fleet at the borders; or 2) Mael had multiple gates that he used to connect the edges of his empire, allowing for his fleets to move quickly across his sprawling empire. I'm inclined to go with option 2, which would mean that Rahn hijacked a secondary gate, not Mael's primary. However, Rahn didn't know Mael had more than one, thus leading him to believe that he was in the heart of Mael's empire. This coincides with Rahn's statement to John that he conquered most of Mael's empire before Mael confronted him, when in fact Mael's records show that Rahn only conquered a small portion of it.

TF4EVA

nice. I am surprised Tashana hadn't reacted more to the Kyth’faren and the libraries as she is the archaeologist????

palisade

Whew'''! Thanks Tefler for another great chapter. I am so very relieved that Faye is not irretrievably dead. The progenitor server was necessary to actually run Faye's programs but I'm thinking that she very easily could have been constantly backing up her memory files to the new servers she had built in addition to her primary server. After all, multiple backups would be as normal as breathing for an AI like her. I'll bet Irrilith finds them. Then they will be able to recreate the progenitor server with the new tech they find on Kythshara.... combined with her base personality from the hacking deck. It might take a little while though. Things to look forward to.

Tefler

"Rahn said he used Mael's gate to bring his fleets through in order to attack Mael, right?" I don't think he said that. Let me know if he did! :-)

ringill

Spotted a couple of telepathic/normal speech mismatches: *I do... and I’m eternally grateful you feel that way,* he said sincerely. *I just didn’t want to disturb you.” *They had to be sedated, John,* Edraele murmured sounding thoroughly disquieted. “Several never recovered and had to be euthanised.*

Anonymous

Anyone else having problems with the link?

Tefler

I'll reread that scene and maybe throw in some comments from her.

J B

Is it me, or is Jade getting a lot more closed-mouthed about her recovered memories?

Anonymous

glad to see the other characters coming back into the story. The possibilities are endless in the universe you've created. I cant wait to see, I hope, the many many more chapters to come.

Anonymous

Cant download it

Anonymous

Downloadsas a binary file notin Word format. Alex wright

Anonymous

I wonder if the Collective is working on bringing Faye back.

Anonymous

Download file is damaged and still not readable after download. Please fix.

Jedi Khan

This has happened before. There's nothing wrong with the file that Tefler uploaded, it's just that sometimes the web browsers and/or computers get confused. Check to see if your computer is thinking it's a zip file. If it wants you to extract it, the computer thinks it's a zip file. It actually is not. Do NOT extract it. You'll have to tell your computer to open the file in Word (or whatever you use to read text files). You can do that by either saving it to your computer then right clicking on the icon and selecting Open With..., or when you download it, say Open With rather than save.

Anonymous

I haven’t tried this on my Mac yet, but I did download the file onto my iPad, launched word, and attempted to open the file. It was not readable in Word. The download wanted me to put it in dropbox. I did this but can find nothing to open it from within dropbox either. When I get access to a computer I’ll see if the “open with” command works there. In the meantime, I still think it is goofed up.

Anonymous

Oh, and the file size is showing as 93 KB with a file name of “1” which also seems a bit odd.

Anonymous

Thisf ile is named 1 and is 94kb only.. There is obviously a problem on Patreon. Would be grateful if the powers that be could fix it, It has obviously been OK it others have been able to read it.

Jedi Khan

The file size is correct, no problem there. The file name is something new. Never saw that happen before. Have you tried a different web browser, or perhaps clearing your cache?

Anonymous

Yes tried various including Safari on my Ipad no change the file opens in what looks like 'code'. No problems with other sites or downloads.

Anonymous

The download points to a file named 1 which is a "binary/octet-stream (93.2 kB)" file. This can be opened by WordPad, but is utterly illegible.

Jedi Khan

When you right click on the downloaded file, is there an option to extract it? If so, don't. Your computer is thinking it's a .ZIP file when in fact it is not. Just open it straight into Word instead of extracting. If that's not the case, then sorry, I've got nothing. There's nothing wrong with the file itself as it opens up perfectly fine for me.

Anonymous

one that sticks out for me is "John sailed deep into Kintark Space to look for his parents..." Should be Kirrix Space

Anonymous

I couldn't open the file on my iPad but it opened on an iMac as a text file. Filename is still "1."

Jedi Khan

If you look at the recent comments, you're not the only one having this issue, however others are not. The file as Tefler uploaded it is fine. It's a .docx Word file with the appropriate title and file size of 93-94KB. Not sure what's going on and no clue how to fix it.

Anonymous

I suspect the only answer is to delete the file onPatreon and reupload; with a modfied file name. It s strange that it seem to be a random occurance, I dis oen it in Wirdoad and as said above it was unitelligable more lik code,

Anonymous

Apologies for the speeling mistakes. It must be the glorious damp and dank day for the first day of summer.

Jedi Khan

Looks like someone may have figured out a fix above. Close out all the apps on your iPad then try opening the file. Might even need to reboot the iPad.

TargetDrone

well, i would like where this story is going, but with faye gone, i miss the drive to continue reading :( ill linger for a bit and check the next couple of chapters, but i am just not into the fad of "game of throne"ing stories by killing of beloved characters, or else i would read martins books. so long....

Anonymous

oooooh, i honestly thought the story was coming to a conclusion like 2 chapters ago, im sooo glad i was wrong!!!!!

Anonymous

One of the things that always bothered me about the concept of immortality through memory backup (i.e. the movie 6th Day or rebuilding Faye as discussed in this chapter) is, you aren't actually bringing back the original entity. You're simply creating a clone of the previous being with all of their memories. Sure the clone will look, act, and remember everything like the original, but the original is still dead.

Anonymous

Manfred, my feelings <i>exactly</i>. I’m hanging around just-in-case, sort of thing, but if Faye continues to be gone, the fun’s gone out of it for me. The compulsion just isn’t there the same... Mind you, if she is brought back (and not a daughter or clone or whatever) I’m going to have a hell of a lot of catch up reading to do. 121, 122, ..... I reckon if she’s not back by 125 she ain’t coming back, and I’l finally pull the plug then. In the meantime I’ll just let the unread chapters mount up. Tim

MrrC

I just read the chapter and a few things stick out. The first is that the explanation of why he is giving away Larn's ship just doesn't make sense....and creates some emotional discontinuinty. Specifically: “I know my father won’t attack us, because he’s a gutless coward.” Note: He could have provided his father and mother with the shuttle....instead of a battleship - esp when consumed by hate for the other's of his species. Later - he's excited about access to the ships. “Wait... you know where all Larn’kelnar’s thrall fleets are?!” There is a major disconnect for me in his interest in the ships of Larn while he's got ZERO interest in the ship that he' s just given away. Others have mentioned the temple of the Kyth’faren in the Astral Plane and no expression of interest from an archaeologist -- weird. Further - he was told by his father that temple has the secrets that were provided to his guide after centuries of research. Where John is intending to train - he's seemingly forgetting that there is an entire deposit of ancestral knowledge available within the archives of the temple. Honestly felt a bit rushed - I love @tefler and his writing - but this one just feels underdone .... maybe its the rush between 121 and 122.... but it's missing some logical points.

Anonymous

It bothers me , the lack of enthusiasm any of them have for Faye’s daughter. It’s to blasé. Hey look, it’s another AI. They are so shook over Faye, and they have no excitement over the discovery of Little One? Her daughter? This is a major plot line defect. I expected them to utilize her to help with Faye, to discover her usefulness, to realize she was another Faye waiting to be part of the crew. And nothing.......... STAY OUT OF MY SERVER HUMAN. A severe error, and disappointment.

Anonymous

Pleased to say all back to normal. It looks like the original file was removed as when I checked earlier it wasn’t there. When I checked a few moments ago all OK. Need to read this again to try to fit it all together. It does fell a bit thin in places but that might be me! Alex Wright

Anonymous

The thrall ships are not made of black metal...going out on a limb I am thinking a soul forge is exactly that. it takes souls to power it. I can see John wanting nothing to do with a black metal progenitor ship because of the sinister metal and the way it affects Alyssa. His goal as stated to the girls is to make the Invictus stronger smaller faster ect. The knowledge that his father has gained in the astral plane is locked up in his guide if he can absorb the knowledge when he eliminates his guide he will have a leg up on what will eventually be the final battle in the astral plane

Anonymous

We know more about Little One than the crew I think when they start to interact with the bots they will have an awakening to what all Faye had done

Anonymous

Incredible writing Tefler. Worth every second we wait for your next chapter.

Anonymous

Nah ... I like it, the universe is quickly boing to hell in a hand basket .

Anonymous

Internal battle within the federation, balmorians in the borders,

Anonymous

Progenitors on their way

Anonymous

I'm thinking ... star trek.... maybe Faye did mindmeld with one of the lost droids or we raise little one as a reminder of mom.. Faye 2.0 if your so inclined

Anonymous

I believe that this is a very good theory, the "new" Faye can recapture much of her former self from the boys archives, and did all the video feed storage go too when Faye was killed? I remember Faye telling one of her boys to go to the video archive on a certain date and feed when wanting to teach him about love... So perhaps Faye's recovery might be a lot quicker than what is indicated in this chapter... At least I hope so...

J B

Maybe because she's more on the hardware side of things? If Irileth had breakthroughs similar to Dana, that might cover the missing pieces, but so far she hasn't.

J B

I wonder if Little One isn't already "Faye Jr", it's just that the crew hasn't realized it yet

Anonymous

"That’s what all the wars he instigated have been about; Larn’kelnar getting some payback for being a puppet." Should be a colon not a semicolon.

Anonymous

Your writing is incredibly clean, but those pesky typos will happen: "My father just spent the last 9000 years trying to uncover lost Kyth’faren secrets to use against Xar’azuith; [Xar' Aziuth] he’ll be desperate to understand how we got so powerful... and he won’t find out by killing us.”

Jedi Khan

The "he" in the section after the semi-colon actually refers to Rahn, John's father, not Xar.

Kensyi

I am disappointed in Mason

Anonymous

Such a great chapter... All the anticipation of upcoming events... I do admit the thing that I am most excited about is what the Invictus is going to look like.. capabilities..etc... It's hard waiting to see what's going to happen..

Anonymous

I do agree it seems a bit strange to just give the ship to his dad.. without stripping anything from it at all.. at a minimum he could have used it to help speed up the rebuilding of the Invictus... And why hasn't Dana been able to figure out how to create the black metal? She got all the other tech but not that? Or was it she just didn't have all the materials to make it?

Jedi Khan

When Dana got her first look at the Progenitor black metal, it was on the Ashanath's Legacy after the battle against the Drakkar. She has the molecular structure and knows what elements it is made from, but she has no idea how it was made. She has to figure out the forging process first.

Kensyi

I have this feeling that they will unlock the black metal, but when they go to shape it it will change to white and be even better than the black. Also I can not stop thinking about Tom and Anna, like that is a hugely fucked up thing for Mason to have done. Also hope the team make it in time to rescue the federation, again.

Tefler

I added the final scene to the chapter. I like the suggestion to add in a Sakura scene with the Valkyrie. I might expand on that tomorrow.

Anonymous

Tefler can we read it now?

Anonymous

How did Larn find John's father? I don't remember where that was explained.

Anonymous

What a chapter! What a way to leave us wanting more!! So how will they get black metal without affecting Alyssa? Who will be there to protect the Maliri and the Feds when the Brims and the Rogue Maliri attack?

Anonymous

Another Excellent Chapter, Tef. Hard to tie all the loose ends up in a single chapter. I worry about the Maliri, they are still "Unclaimed" whatever that means. Hopefully another Progenitor can't swoop in and "Claim" them. I think John and Alyssa are taping into some Kyth’faren knowledge, with the White Metal, perhaps there is a stronger uncorrupted version. His Father seemed quite surprised/shocked with the sword. Didn't Faye give Little One some kind of copy of herself to use as a baseline for understanding Human emotions and behaviors? Could that source code be used as a template to "restore" her? Like restoring last stable version of a back up? Or perhaps input and data from all members of the Collective. #Pray4Faye

Jedi Khan

The Maliri are claimed by John. That was mentioned a few chapters ago. It's Larn's people that are now unclaimed. As for what Faye gave Little One to study, it was images of the crew showcasing examples of love. Faye built Little One's code from the ground up, but I don't she used any of her own code in the process.

Anonymous

It's all gonna go off on the Brimorian border &amp; at Olympus but the Invictus is incapacitated... really looking forward to the next chapter!

Kensyi

But I neeeeeeed it now!!!! This is my problem with the story, I burn through it and then have to wait. I don't like that. Also /sarcasm. Don't rush anything, love the story, really sad for Faye, gonna home she can get a real body when/if she comes back.

tony

the fecal matter is getting ready to hit the fan blades... and well done .......saints preserve us when the story is complete and tefler releases the entire thing in hard cover like al steiner did with homebodies.......a must purchase if y'all ask me....

Richard

It's a plot device people use when they don't quite understand what makes life special. It's a super easy mistake to make, and there are a lot of rational arguments that make it seem like a good idea.

Anonymous

Did the description of Tom Walkers' eyes sound familiar?

Anonymous

I caught that as well, hopefully the next few chapters will be interesting in that regard.

Anonymous

Yup, I'm really curious how hes gonna describe and upgrade the invictus to be on par with a progenitor dreadnought. There is only so much volume in which to pack the firepower in a battlecruiser hull. Also, what are they gonna do with that main hangar! Early chapters suggested a destroyer bay but that honestly seems a like a poor use of space.

Anonymous

After reading the final scene of 122, a sizable part of me really wants to see John finally snap from the pressure and new revelations, and set Alyssa loose through TFed command and just obliterate any enemies they come across as gruesomely, publicly, and spectacularly as possible. Hes given all the warnings he should, time to reap the whirlwind.

Anonymous

Apart from Walker's eyes, another not so subtle plot point was the crew being blase about leaving the Raptor floating about in orbit: its a bit like hiding in a cupboard and leaving your mobile phone outside the door.

MrrC

Wow - truly impressive fixes and updates @tefler. Plot now lines up neatly - a joy to read.

Anonymous

Since it looks like a coup with an assassination of Lynette is afoot, perhaps it opens an opportunity for Rahn to make amends to John. With Lynette and Jehanna in mortal danger John could petition him to scoop up him and the girls, the Invictus, the Raptor and the missing drones and take them for a fast ride to Olympus with the worm hole drive. The father/son can kick ass and name names.

Grimlakin

Does anyone else remember a specific writer saying sghiomething about not liking cliffhangers? What the heck man!! ;)

Anonymous

Beth studied him in fascination. “I’ve never had a chance to take a close look at your eyes before. I thought they were all blue, but you’ve actually got golden rings around your pupils... they’re beautiful.” Do I read this correctly? Is Tom somehow related to Dane?

Anonymous

There are two plots against TFED at the moment, one unfolding at the Bromorian border, one at Olympus shipyard. Although they may both be remnants of Larn's plots, it is not clear if they are coordinated. The Olympus plot is likely rogue ex-admirality, but the Brimorian one could involve a lone traitor such as Mason.

TF4EVA

Nice fixes and additions. Does Rahn's ship contain repositories and libraries for Tashana to plunder so she and Irillith can decode progen symbols and get info on the universe (as it was) that they can load into their own system. Maybe there is info about the Vulkat? Are they just going to leave Rahn's ship when they leave? Maybe Jessica will get it in the divorce? Why does Jessica not have white hair?

Anonymous

White hair is specific to thrall species... none of the terrans or nymphs have turned white, only the Maliri. The fact that Ailanthia only got white hair after being made pregnant by Larn &amp; none of the other light green thralls had white hair is a quandry I don't fully understand... any theories welcome!

Anonymous

I can't tell if Tefler likes Olympus so much that he keeps coming back, or hates it so much that he wants to see it suffer. The beatings will proceed until morale improves!

Anonymous

Has to do with the feelings associated between the progenitors and the thralls linked. John loves the maliri hence qhite hair. Larn just started loving his matriarch hence white hair. Also the deeper the connection the more powerful the progenitor.

Anonymous

Hmmm it's relatively tiny &amp; should be without power... I doubt it would show up much on scans &amp; would be near invisible to the eye unless you were on top of it

Arrowglass

In a slightly different vein, it was mentioned about going into LarnKelnar's old empire to acquire the no longer manned thrall ships for the Maliri. John was born and has operated under the Shroud all his life. If he ventures into that space would he then be more openly exposed the the control and/or direct attacks from Xar' Aziuth? Just wondering......!

Jedi Khan

Rahn seems to think John would be safe. Although, he doesn't realize that many of John's trips into the Astral have been involuntary, having been pulled there by the monsters after feeding a new recruit.

Anonymous

Oh you sneaky guy Tefler!... I know who the treator is.... :-) but it doesn't make sense at all. Why would he do that? He's such a nice guy!

Anonymous

Doesn't explain why ALL Mael's Maliri thralls had white hair though...

Anonymous

It was BigFish the Dolphin all along. He always has the upper fin! &gt;:3

Kensyi

He did warn them not to mess with his family, and Charles and Lynnette are family, so reap what you sow

Kensyi

Is part 2 ready yet? I'm dying here.

David

I cant wait to find out what happens with tom and his fiancé. But at the same time I cringe because i was in a similar situation

TF4EVA

sounds like a plot for Literotica loving wives or something. If Anna not contacting Tom for his side of the story and gets it on with Archie then Tom probably better off with Beth...

Big Dude

I like Dave2822's thinking above. Tefler foreshadowed John and Rahn expecting other progenitors coming to a galaxy spiral arm near you. I too can see Lynette contacting Alyssa and John contacting his father to assist him going to Olympus. Then they get to see the black ship. Also will Rahn help John when the Brimorians attack the Shoals? Who is flying that Raptor ship?

TF4EVA

good point. Faye was a multi tasker that freed up her pride mates to excl at what they do best. If Jades sisters help out some slack with be taken up but....

Metheus108

I asked this on the update thread, but I dont think its been addressed yet: Did Charles and Lynette sleep through the rescheduled High Command meeting? Charles reschedules it for 7pm and then sleeps until 7:30 and there is no further mention of it. Seems like a waste of a whole scene if everyone slept through the conclusion.

Anonymous

I had the same question and yes he did sleep through the metting but it was not addressed with his assistant at all.

Anonymous

Nice chapter, Tefler!

Big Dude

Regarding the Thrall ships out there and the astral plane effect, I suggest a different scenario. John's guide is not absorbed hence his normal Progenitor behavior is not normal! His recruitment happens when he is not astrally connected. His guide was within when he went on the astral trip with Daddy-O! Once his guide is absorbed then he will react similarly to other progenitors except he won't be a self-absorbed jackass!

Big Dude

Ladies and Gentlemen... What if Archie is the traitor?

Big Dude

Does this sound like a possible scenario? I bet when Dana watches the wormhole process in action she gets an epiphany which allows it to regenerate within 30 minutes and after John dispatches the ex-admiral uprising they leave to the Shoals. Athgoloi (sp?) recognizes the black ship and they welcome "Larn's ship" back to the Enclave. Unfortunately for the Brimorians, John's face shows up on the display and John kicks some scaly fish butt!

Anonymous

Uhh, probably not.

ringill

I can just see the next chapter panning out now, first the attack on Olympus which they'll jump to in Larn's (Rahn's?) ship, then there'll be the attack on Maria then Irillith will find the rouge Maliri who've subverted TFed comms to hide the attack by the Brimorians (who will have timed it just as the enhanced fleet turns up, not to mention Admiral Kester's fleet). At which point John's blood pressure will have reached the point where he explodes and takes out the entire quadrant of the galaxy!

rich ed

Tefler, do you think this conversation needs tweaking seeing Lynette now knows that a Progen made the human's as an experiment? “You’re right, I’ll speak with him about it when I next get a chance.” Jehanna leaned into her hand. “Are you religious, Lynette?” “I used to be Catholic,” the brunette replied, gazing off into the distance. “Used to be?” the dusky young woman asked, picking up on the past tense. “If it’s not too personal a question, why’s that?” Lynette let out a heavy sigh and couldn’t meet Jehanna’s curious gaze. “I lost my faith the first time I had to order an orbital bombardment.” Her voice turned bleak as she added, “Because if there is a heaven and hell, I know where I’ll be going...” Also rereading this epic for the 4/5/6 time over the years the girls are always saying "lucky you are on our side" You may wish to change some of those unless that was your intention

Big Dude

The bad guys want to kill Lynette. Lynette turn off the field emitters to show her young self. The bad guys think she is the niece.

Anonymous

Tef, I finally broke down and read 122. It was riveting as ever, and actually I feel far more positive now if I am understanding the direction of things correctly. Faye going was a hell of a blow, but having read 122 I’m back on a more even keel again, with something to hope for. I’m back on board 😉👍 You certainly have a talent for stirring the reader up!! Spare a thought for us old softies before you tug too many other heart strings.... Cheers. Tim

Tefler

I've just uploaded a new version that fixed Charles' scheduling problems and added a new scene with Sakura and the Valkyrie!

Anonymous

So, chapter 123 next week? ;-)

Anonymous

Please tell me Faye can come back!!!

TF4EVA

nice clean up and additions. Cheers

Anonymous

I don't think anyone has speculated on the server that Faye had maintenance bots 7 and 13 move from her server room to the simulation room on deck 3. It seemed like a backup server.

rich ed

It is Tom's Claymore tail code. chapter 117 "It didn’t take long for the Claymore gunships to return and she watched the first wave of bulkier vessels touch down on landing pads, then descend to the lower levels. Beth was looking for a specific ship and she squinted to read the tail codes as she searched for HCJ-C-1482". Then in Chapter 122 " “When the battle commences, locating this fighter is our Primary Objective. Claymore 1482 is not to be fired upon, no matter the circumstances!” So maybe Tom's Admiral dad is the traitor, he was pals with Buckingham and all......

TF4EVA

Rich your Quantum Omni-Phase Scan is definitely finely tuned and working well

Anonymous

I’m betting the traitor that cut the orders for the “personnel transfer” in the upcoming Olympus debacle is Carmela Moreno.....

Anonymous

And I gotta go with Mason as the traitor on the Brimorian border

Anonymous

I’ve also been giving the mystery of Jade some thought and where Tefler might be going with that story arc..... I don’t think the Nymphs are a Mael Nerak creation.......you gotta figure that no Progenitor would ever use Achonin runes on one of their creations as it would be beneath them. Another reason is that Jade is completely unlike any of Mael

Anonymous

ack.......screwed that up..... Jade is unlike all his other creations in that she’s basically an undifferentiated bag of stem cells. I’m thinking the Nymphs are Achonin creations that Mael high jacked or maybe they might be Achonin enslaved?

Big Dude

Would John's Progenitor modified Maliri have the same reaction to Mael'Nerak's throne as a normal unmodified Maliri. I think not!

Big Dude

Maybe John asks Daddy Rahn to help repair the Progenitor server on the way to Olympus? Or Jessica sees the sadness on the girl's faces and asks what happened and she gets Rahn to help repair it!

Anonymous

So, they have Faye's personality but not her memories - but didn't she give 'Little One' a lot of her memories to learn from? And that is a hell of a lot of server space they have in the Invictus Collective Node. Am wondering just how many of her memories they might have available...

Anonymous

Tefler, I was wondering if this is a typo or not. she let herself float into position so that her body mirrored that of the fallen mech. Now that synchronicity(?) had been achieved I was wondering about the word choice. Synchronicity (Jung) is possibly too specific a term in this context. Synching, synchronise, or synchronisation might be more appropriate.

Tefler

Good point. I've fixed it in the latest updated version. :)

I’m looking forward to the reaction of the Brimorean’s when their Kintark invasion runs up against a fully operational Kintark fleet...laughter ensues

MrrC

@tefler - not a critique - but a point of consideration. This logic "“Rahn’hagon created me to fight them so that he wouldn’t have to. If other Progenitors do come looking, my father would never risk opposing them. He doesn’t have any thralls, so he’s weak and vulnerable... which means he’s totally reliant on us to stop a Progenitor invasion.” contradicts a key point made in 121. Where Rahn was going to Kill John / then seize the Maliri and do "what needed to be done". My concern is that John is assuming that Rahn is NOT sufficiently scared that John will screw things up where he'll actually need to get his hand dirty again. If John was to mention the terror that Rahn has of being killed and ending up as an Astral Monster - it'd be a more direct explanation of why Rahn is a coward vs the statement by itself. It feels overly simplified in the explanation re: Rahn's behaviour. Looking forward to the next chapter. Cheers Mate

Anonymous

This chapter was the deep breath before we plunge into the deep end of 123. Brimorian invasion, reveal of the Callopean Shoals traitor, the disgraced Admirals' revenge strike on Port Olympus, Rahn and Jess' (I love how he calls her Jess) decisions concerning JOhn and their new ship, and how our heroes can escape Arcadia! And much more!

Anonymous

Just a curiosity question do we have a total word count on the story to date?

Jedi Khan

Rahn attacked John not knowing that John is a lot stronger than he should have been with only a thousand thralls. Rahn was under the assumption at the time that he could kill John, take his girls, claim the Maliri, and rebuild his strength to fight the coming storm. Granted Rahn was a bit out of his mind with rage at the moment and probably wasn't thinking all that clearly. However, once John and Alyssa both bitch slapped Rahn, it became apparent to Rahn that he stood no chance of stealing John's girls and the Maliri, and also had no choice but to rely on John as a shield against the rest of the Progenitors.

Jedi Khan

Storiesonline puts the estimate at over 3 million words. This does not include 121 or 122. Not sure what Tefler's official word count is at, but it should be close.

Anonymous

Tefler, one more correction - you wrote that the video of Mael breaking his link with Valada was in the Nexus files. If I remember correctly, this occurred Millenia after Nexus was dropped off to monitor Earth. I believe you had written those files were found in the server crystals Tashana had found in the ruins of the Thrall recruitment depot on Valaden.

Anonymous

Finally I hope they find a back up of Faye somewhere, it would be almost surprising if they didn't because the most basic rule of data management is back up early and often. It's hard to imagine that Faye, Dana and Irrillith would have overlooked that.

Anonymous

Thinking of the upcoming Brimorian / TF border fleet attack, I know it won't work as they're deep in Kirrix space just now, but in a future engagement where they can't make it back in time, Irillith could project herself through the TFed comms network to take over the Brimorian flagship &amp; wreak havock, as she's already been in &amp; left a backdoor :)

Anonymous

The lack of a backup had me scratching my head too. However, it looks to me that Faye herself might have been inadvertently backing herself up by (I think) continually using her own code to awaken the bots. If that’s the case I would think they have a really good foundation on which to rebuild her.

Anonymous

My only worry about this is that sleeper program lurking in the background. The one that woke up as soon as she entered the network and continued to observe her the entire time she was in there.

Sgt Sak

I just reread the entire series starting with the amazon books this time. Brilliant! I wish there was a way to go back to specific chapters/post in Patreon without having to scroll down. I’m interested in reading the differences in what was in Literotica and here.

Anonymous

I've been wondering about the soul forge and about how it works. If the name is any clue then I don't think John will ever use it. And that it takes thralls souls to create the black metal. But I wonder if there is a different type of metal they could use. They already use the crystal allysaium however you spell it. Wonder if there is another tier that Dana hasn't discovered yet. Or a way to make the black metal with out souls

Alphaonetango

So there aren’t any differences between here and Lit. It takes like two weeks to get posted on Lit do to their INSANELY long moderation process (Every new up load must be read by a moderator or something like that). It’s the same story just the only difference is the Amazon book which fixes small things and adds scenes.

Anonymous

I thought about it and eventually I do expect him to use it - but the difference in outcome ultimately being unwilling thralls versus willing, and perhaps even eager, participation from his ladies. I more-or-less expect the (you *know* it would have to be!) 'white metal' forged from willing/loving participants to be vastly superior.

Anonymous

Also now that we have learned about the first civilization and how John is different and also turning alyssa into a Progenitor when they have children wouldn't they simply be restoring an extinct race?

prsstarid

Good question on what dual progenitor parentage would be but also keep in mind that John is considered a progenitor and him being half human.

Anonymous

Amongst the Maliri it’s slipping into high gear. With the current 1/20 male to female ratio and the soon to be flood of white haired females looking to reverse the downward population trends.......if I were a Maliri male i’d be heading for the high ground....

Anonymous

Does anyone know, is this chapter complete or is there more to come? Also, do we have a date for the next chapter?

Anonymous

Well I believe John should rethink becoming the cat and go out and exterminate all pregnators. He would be doing exactly what Xar’aziuth wants, fueling him. The crew should go out and capture each pregnator and his matriarch then inprision them inside the shroud until they change their ways . After each matriarch guides thier minions to become peaceful then Xar’aziuth will become weak enough for John to kick butt.

Anonymous

Work out what the shroud is. Expand it and get the other Progenitors into it and then kill them. If they are out from under the influence of Xar'aziuth then it may well be that it doesn't feed him either.

Sgt Sak

Hmm. Surgical strikes, kill each progenitor then claim their Thralls. Although I thought Rhan said Xar’aziuth created them. Couldn’t he keep creating them?

Who Me

Question - If Mr.T comes out with a new chapter and then later adds corrections and updates to it - do I have to pay for the updated version after paying for the original? Just curious. Enjoying the story too much to worry about money!

Anonymous

Haven't I heard the names Donnely and MacCallum somewhere before? I don't see them in the last several chapters, but I can't shake the feeling...

Grimlakin

That's a good question. Hmmm

Grimlakin

I wonder if the soul forge is a bastardization of what the true race had. Seems to me John and the girls are becoming that as opposed to progenitors. The real end is when they can leave behind the physical

Grimlakin

He's already done that by opening rents into the ethereal plane. Letting the creatures physically manifest. That had to scare the shit out of the big guy.

Anonymous

There seemed to be hints earlier in the story that the Trankaran's Star Forge might actually be one of the progentor's Soul Forges.

Anonymous

I have a question about the psychic enhancer or multiplier Sakura picked up, I'd like to ask. Once Sakura gives or shows everyone the psychic enhancer to everybody, Dana could possibly make one of these for each of them, that have psychic powers. Would this reduce the drain of their powers wjth each use, I know it would multiply the power they already have. My thoughts and hopes are, after Dana examines this device she improves it, making their psychic abilities more powerful while using the device, yet draining their phychic power less. Imagine, what they each could do

Anonymous

What if, Dana could not only increase their psychic abilities beyond what the enhancer device gave the progenitors, but if they activated them at the same time, their minds would go into a connected quantum state. The time would seem to last forever, but they would only be connected for seconds, and they would have answers on how to repair and improve the Invictus, the Raptor, the Valkyrie, themselves, and their individual craft or abilities. Like magic, but Tefler isn't that easy and it would be to simple, no fun.

Anonymous

Went and re-read chapter 107...... I’m convinced now that the trankaran star forge (described as a huge ring made of black metal) is Mael’s soul forge.....which beggars the question how the hell did it end up in trankaran space?

bigdawguw65

Trankarians were his miners/metal experts , so it might make sense it was there , I don't think it would necessarily be on his throne world , who wants a smelly smokey ship yard , forge on your beautiful paradise planet ?

Grimlakin

I have a feeling the sacrifice to make a black metal ship is good NG to be abhorrent to the crew but John will have a breakthrough or Dana will to make a better white material.

Anonymous

F5????

Sid1712

Wouldn't expect Ch. 123 before the 16th, at the minimum

Anonymous

I think that it is a soul forge and it is called that due to the huge amount of psychic energy it takes to power it to construct/forge the black metal. Which is why Dana hasn’t recognized how to make it - she has never seen a soul forge. What if since John isn’t connected to Xar’aziuth his black metal comes out white since he doesn’t “drain thralls” to power it. I was hoping they could rendezvous with the Maliri fleet in Trankaran space to complete the repairs at the “star forge” shipyard/planet and the realization comes to Dana how to forge the black metal. Only Tefler Knows. The next few chapters could wrap up a bunch of story arcs if there is no Progenitor drama to deal with.

Anonymous

The story arc I’m looking most forward to is that of jades origin. Remember when Larn met up with the brimorian leader Athgiloi? Larn placed his hand on the nymphs head and seemed to determine her origins then saying “what an innovative solution” and then commenting on her still working perfectly after all these years. Once John has finally stripped all his powers and knowledge from his guide, the mystery should be revealed.....

Anonymous

I started reading this story when Tefler first dropped it in storiesonline.net......then joined Patreon to get the latest chapters as they were released.....then ended up buying the books as they were released on amazon. Bloody hell....this story grabbed my imagination and won’t let go. Damn it, I’m being forced to have a good time...who woulda thunk it.

Anonymous

That is the same thing that happened with me, lol. But i can't stop reading it.

TF4EVA

I wonder if John might be able to power his soul forge from the astral mist beasts that we now know are past progenitors? Is a soul a soul or would the astral beast souls be contaminated and dark so of no usefulness for John, Alyssa and Dana?

Newnotsure

Just read the new chapter WOW Fay will be back you watch we can’t lose Mother

Anonymous

So I was thinking since everything John makes has pretty much been white instead of black will his progenitor ship from they soul forge be white also

MrrC

Hi all - is there an ETA on 123? I know Tef gave us 122 a bit later than normal - just wondering if I'd missed the usual *Update*

Anonymous

This has been an astronomically expensive and stressful week for me already. Please give me good news with a status update. :)

Alphaonetango

Probably on the 20th will be the update day. Edit. Or whenever he feels like it. Tef don’t need no man.

Bp Hlpt

The biggest thing John missed out on by giving away Larn’kelnar's ship to Rahn’hagon isn't the ship itself (since Alyssa can't stay on it) or the weapons, but rather all of the data stored on the ship's computers. [Maybe even some of Faye's files scanned in while doing a thorough system scan in preparation for attacking the Invictus?] Besides the potential immediate help from Rahn for transportation and help with the current Olympus and Brimorian situations, getting copies of some or all of the ship's data should be a priority. This would also help with John's plans of dealing with the Progenitors since it would show all of their locations, etc.

Anonymous

The reasons you mention are all excellent reasons to keep Larn'kelnar's ship, but I also wondered if they could take the Invictus into Larn's repair and fabricating bay, to repair and massively upgrade the Invictus, in a much reduced time period than any of them thought possible. Of course, if that's not possible, they may be able to use the facilities on Rahn's ship, provided they are still in working order.

Grimlakin

Something just occurred to me. I think John's guide is broken because John has knowledge even his guide shouldn't know. He's effectively surpassed his guide in many. Areas by following an older racial template the guide is designed to prevent. It's my opinion that. John isn't progenitor but the source race and is obtainung their knowledge through... His multiple matriarchs and reaching out to other species. Not subjugating them.

Anonymous

Yessss !!! Finally a patreon

Sid1712

Since there is nothing else to do, i'm guessing Ch. 123 will be released on the 25th

Anonymous

@PLR, naughty boy! You’re getting these poor souls hopes up... We all know we’re on a rolling ~ 8 days lead time to the next chapter appearing, which freezes and starts counting down from when Tef posts the all important “first half has gone to the editors “ update. So on that basis, the (currently rolling) posting date for 123 is 28/6. 22nd - no way..... Timbo

Anonymous

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that the missing ingredient that keeps Crystal Alyssium from being an "ultimate metal" is love. I'm basing that on a scene way early in the series where John and Alyssa were briefly making out on the hull, and after they left the metal where they'd been laying showed a pink color. But I truly hope that they don't end up cruising the galaxy in their very own bubblegum pink dreadnaught killer.

Anonymous

Shall we start a bet pool? 5 pounds on 23 status and 27 chapter

thomas rodrian

Could be worse. If the color came out looking like an Oscar Mayer Wiener. Just imagine what their theme song would be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeFCZ8n6MVU. I think a pink space might be okay, especially if it is Mountbatten pink.

Alphaonetango

I will put 5 bolívar down for the 21 being the status and the 26 being the chapter. Match me little man.

Grimlakin

@TEFLER I hope you are all right. Last time you went incommunicado this long your family was dealing with the flu if I remember correctly.

Anonymous

Did Voss call Charles to tell about planned attack on his wife?

Anonymous

My take on Black metal of Progenitor. 1. John and crew don't need it. They will find an alternative. 2. John create energy through his bond with Matriarch and rest of girls much more than thralls. Reason love, trust, empathy, honesty and lot of other positive feelings. A means to infuse this immense power to matter/ material means a new metal stronger than one generated through sacrifices of life.

Anonymous

I've searched, but can't find the exact place or chapter I was looking for, to possibly back up your statement. John was on the Astral plane and was confronted by Xar'aziuth, the huge monster, had worn John down somewhat and he became angry and focused all his love, devotion, and all his other positive feelings for the girls, into a weapon and blasted the monster. Xar'aziuth found these feeling of love and positive emotions repulsive, and immediately retreated. So, the dark forces are repulsed by love and positive emotions, this could become a powerful weapon, in their war against those dark forces. This shows the power those emotions have, and may be the missing ingredient to a powerful hull material.

Anonymous

as long as that hull material isn't pearlescent white, and smells funny after you eat asparagus, ...

Tefler-watch Day 384: We haven't heard from Lord Tefler in many moons, so we have turned to divination and lesser known magicks to ascertain his whereabouts. the first few attempts led to disaster, instead opening rifts to strange and terrible worlds. These dark magicks are more volatile than we thought. But we must press forwards. We must find Tefler.

Press forward? I'm resorting to "Effive" it's super effective.

So if tefler posts a new chapter and then later on posts the 2nd half/ maybe add a few scenes Do i have to pay twice for same chapter ? New patreon here

James St. Clair

How do we know when a chapter is finalized?

Alphaonetango

He adds in a ***Edited Final Version (date) (list of changes)*** to the top of the post of a chapter. For the most part the changes aren’t that huge a few sentence changes here and there to get the flow down better. If you want to wait you can or just read it again and again.

MrrC

Oh where oh where has our Tefler gone (to the disney tune). Patreon's on Discord people's - any word?

Who Me

I'm sad. ME WANT FAYE!!!!!

Anonymous

I thought he was going to post 3 chapter's a month now that he is writing full time. I believe it says that on the main page. We are barely getting half that. It's hard to enjoy the story when there is so much time between chapter's.

Arrowglass

Tefler's work product speaks for itself! I think we are fortunate to get what we do when we do. A couple of authors I follow elsewhere take months between stories, so I am enjoying being spoiled by The Master...and being kept in suspense at the same time never knowing what he will come up with next!. That being said, I hope all is well in his world!!!

Alphaonetango

Technically its only been 16 days since the last update, so we are still in the time frame for the 15-20 days. Everybody remain calm, its not an emergency yet.

Hard to live with the anxiety of waiting.... I have no time for patience :)

Big Dude

It has been a little too quiet on the English front though! I hope all is well with the family!

When Tef first started posting chapters I think they was fair bit shorter than the 30000+ word chapters we get now

But we are crack addicts awaiting our addiction. It's like telling a Meth addict to calm down.

We all hope for every thing to be just dandy back in blighty. That being said, just a remark to my felow patreons. I do believe The Maker to be stugling a litle. The universe has grown exponentialy since the early days. I do believe, oratleast i would not ne surprised in the least if either he is at a crosroads regarding plot not sure of were to lead the story to, or simply there are now simply too many sidelines or stories to folow. The sheer organization it must take to keep track off every thing not to end with conflicting plot lines must start to be overwelming. We know he has editors working closely with him, still it may be simply too mutch of a work load. I am as keen to set my eyes on the next chapter as the next guy though.... so please ALL MIGHTY... give us some info regarding status. If you think it will take a month, 2 or more, it mater not. But i for one wiuld rely like from him an assurance that on a personal level all is well with his world, or at least a word saying something allong the lines of " Gentleman do not despair. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Delieverance is upon us. Fear not my children. All wrongs will be set right and the sun shall shine anew"

bigdawguw65

I've always feared that the light at the end of the tunnel is the headlight of an on coming train :P . Like you said Richard , willing to wait as long as it takes for Tef to be happy with his story but would ease my worried mind to know that all is ok with his life .

Anonymous

A Tefler is never early. A Tefler is never late. A Tefler posts exactly when he intends to post. At least Tef is iD late, and not EA late

Anonymous

Stated with no sugar or flowers on top.... Where is the next update?!... please. :)

Nonconformist

I read the comments here and on Lit while waiting for the next chapter or update. I read on Lit that through Discord Tefler has been on holiday and 123 has not been sent to the editor's or been finished. I have no idea if this is correct information or not. Perhaps some Discord users could weigh in here with any info.

Anonymous

Heya guys, I have a theory......OK.....we know that Dana is a test tube wunderkind.....what do you wanna bet that Tom Walker is one too (both Dana and Tom have a golden ring around their corneas) and that Tom’s dear old daddy (a member of the admiralty) will be instrumental in tying up the origins of Dana storyline. I’m still convinced that Jade is either an Achonin construct or an actual Achonin. I’m also convinced that Mael’s soul forge is the Trankaran star forge. I would also like to add that of the myriad storylines/arcs that have been sown up, they were all done exceptionally well, not an ambiguity in the lot.

Anonymous

If Tom is a wunderkind I'm betting he's adopted not actually their kid. Though I disagree with the star forge, I'm betting it's actually in the nebula, and i've a feeling that the nymphs are created using tech taken from the Achonin, specifically something like a psychic crystal, some thing akin to what Nikkrit gave John and the girls, and likely her sisters are her daughters by Mael. It's acctually possible Nikkrit's race is descendant from the Achonin, and that the Achonin created the shroud not knowing it would cause the Kirix which was likely a young undiscovered species at the time to go batty and all sociopathic on other species.

James St. Clair

Based on his last update, 122 isn’t complete yet either.

Alphaonetango

Looks like it. Granted the amount of editing left is probably not that much.

Jedi Khan

No, it's a lie. A particular person on Discord was being their usual trollish self, then someone who didn't have access to Patreon to verify the info believed it and shared it to Lit.

Anonymous

Wait for it. Wait for it. Wait for it. Hang on and you will see. But feel free to speculate because it is amazing how often someone gets it right. More guesses are way off than even close, but those are pretty interesting too.

Nonconformist

Thank you to Jedi Khan for the response on my request.

Easier to read in the lit app. I have to read it in Microsoft word doc format to read it on patron:-/ but I couldn't stand the suspense of waiting for 121 an 122

Alphaonetango

Oh shit you guys are still on 120 on lit? Man I forgot how long the moderation takes over there.

Anonymous

Ya its awful! Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 months for a new chapter to come out on lit. Buts it's a lot easier to read format wise. An I can change the words either black or white to make it easier on the eyes. But only way I can read it on patron is to download a word doc.. and its super tiny on my phone so I have to zoom in and slide the screen back and forth...super annoying

Anyone hear when chapter 123 will be released?

I download the chapter and convert the file into a pdf, then i just use nightmode in adope acrobat on my phone (dont like reading on pc)

It's easy to open docx files in Google docs and change font size. I read all chapters on my phone, just select all and change font size to 14 or 16

While waiting with the same level of bated breath as everyone else here, something occurred to me: Athgiloi owns a Nymph. What is John going to do when he finds out about that, in addition to his feelings about the Brimorians launching a sneak attack (with the help of some Terran traitors) on the Terran fleet? Athgiloi is in deep trouble, and he doesn't know it, but it's going to fun for all of us to watch John's actions when he finds out. :-)

Anonymous

I was just thinking, that Athgiloi's nymph was a gift from the Kintark emperor, would that mean that there are more nymphs in Kintark?

Sgt Sak

I am sure Tefler is enjoying a much needed break. His work is detailed and very well thought out. I do look forward to the next chapter. I keep remembering isomov took decades to write his series.

Anonymous

As much as I am hanging out for the next episode the same as everyone else, we have to remember that the Poms are having their 5 minutes of summer for the year. They have the One Day Cricket World Cup and an Ashes series to come. Hopefully he is having a well earned rest. Don't worry though, it is England so it will be raining soon and he will be back inside looking for something to do. 😜

ringill

You're 2 weeks too late on the rain front, there was a lot of flooding across the country with Horncastle in Lincolnshire getting more than their normal monthly June rainfall on the 11th. Meanwhile today it's weather warnings for thunderstorms, happy summer!

I'm sure Tefler will post sometime this week, otherwise he won't get paid, because the last chapter was posted on 5/31

My hope is that he is still writing currently and is two to three chapters ahead. To give himself a little breathing room on the deadlines he sets for himself. That way he can say a chapter will be posted on the 1st &amp; 15th of every month. And he won’t feel as much pressure to pound out the next chapter to reach deadline.

I'd love that to be the case. But I won't hold my breath. :/

Bringing up the 500th comment, Tef please rise!!!

Anonymous

I've been considering Faye and her apparent death. We know that she ran lots and lots of simulations of possible scenarios for the Invictus its crew and their ability to survive all sorts of disasters, there is no way that she would not have simulated her own death, and therefore made a contingency plan for it happening, and enacted it, in many different forms. to cover all the possibilities. However it may take a considerable amount of time for her to recover, given the damage inflicted by Larn’kelnar Story twist - What is Fayes greatest wish - to be organic and be able to communicate on the Astral plane. Therefore I hypotheticate that instead of an inorganic body Faye is going to come back as a true organic AI with links over the Astral plane, and the ability to breed, and be enhanced by John, so of this knowledge is going to come from the Castles of Knowledge left behind and some is going to come from GEO and Rachel working with Irillith on this knowledge, with the help of Little One.

Anonymous

Brilliant hypothecation.......having studied hypothology myself, I would dare to hypothecate (humbly) Faye will first return digitally then go organic some time after they take over Mael’s old haunts. But sure as copious quantities of fecal matter I’ve probably got it wrong.

Anonymous

Whatever happened to the cryochambered assassin that was captured after Sakura's revenge episode? If not disposed of, a mind wipe and borrowed body for whatever Faye backup gets found!

ByzFan

Wow. Well first, fuck Mace. Hope that fucker gets a shit ton of justice soon. Second, thinking one insane paranoid commander can fool an entire fleet into not realizing the border sensors are playing an hour long loop? Not that believable. Same with convincing his mother and sister that someone they have known most of his life is cheating on the sister. Hard to believe sister or mother would not have called to confront Tom about it even once. I hope the "leave that fighter alone" bit isn't part of a frame Tom for treason subplot that will stretch on for months. Otherwise amazing and surprising story. Not sure why but the Tom Walker side story just reads weird to me.
