Same as the Invictus image. The artist added a lot of detail, but it's harder to see on the main picture unless you view it full screen.

aesthetically, perhaps the Federation, being so image-conscious, would have the thing lit up and painted a light color (probably in bad taste, like Army Olive). Typically the good guys love light and bright, while the bad guys lurk in the dark, evil shadows.

luvin it

That one is fantastic! I pictured the spokes longer and less blocky but that's just me. Yeah, might have to screen saver or desktop background that image.

Yeah, I can kinda see the stacked-dinner plate design in the central hub. Not sure how defensible that station design is though; might have a few blind spots.

Why did I imagine the shipyard like this ( https://img1.etsystatic.com/101/0/5533978/il_340x270.993160721_r8lf.jpg ) having it bigger in the middle and smaller at the edges? pic for reference

It looks OK for the Olympus shipyard, which I imagined as more utilitarian; however, for a station like Port Medina, I would expect to see more of a stacked plate design similar to the image at this site: https://cdn.allwallpaper.in/wallpapers/1920x1200/14574/star-trek-space-station-science-fiction-artwork-1920x1200-wallpaper.jpg Perhaps with even more stacked plates?

Tefler

Yeah, that's more like how the Port stations are built (Port Heracles, Medea, Megara, etc). Olympus is primarily a shipyard though, so the design is quite different. :-)

Hey Tef, the render looks amazing. But I've always pictured the spokes to be longer and less deep, with the central spine being much wider and deeper. In the story, you've said how they sail past the shipyard looking at the damaged ships at the shipyard and the huge gantries above the huge open docks. But I can't see any huge open spaces where the ships could land with the gantries hanging above them!
