This is actually my first time commenting on your video but I really wanted to share something that I saw on twitter about the lyrics of Universe_!! In the bridge there is a line that says, 'Shall we spend a day together' at first when I heard this I thought that it was just a very normal and straightforward lyrics but when I saw the tweet that talked about this I got goosebumps 😭 In Onewe's space series songs they often talk about how light takes an astronomical amount of time to reach earth (cosmos) and in general alot about 'you' and 'me' not existing in the same space/timeline so when the lyrics is 'Shall we spend a day together' it means that they are willing to wait thousands and million of years just to wait for the timeline to match up once again so that they can meet you once again which honestly makes me cry because just how much do you have to love someone to be willing to wait forever for fate to match them up again 😭 And also actually this is the first album that every single one of Onewe's members took the lead in writing a song!!

Universe and From is written mainly by Yonghoon. And actually From is one of Onewe's song that they performed in concerts when it was still unreleased. You can find performances of this song from 6 years ago HAHAHAH Yonghoon made this song while thinking about his parents but he did mentioned that this song can also be about the people that are dearest to you!! For Envision, it is actually a song written by Harin!! This is the first ever song that was released made solely by Harin!! He got the inspiration for this song when he was sitting in his studio and felt stucked/trapped because everyday was so repetitive (working in the same room etc) so this song is about escaping from this place to reach out for the place in his dream. For Montage, this is a song written mainly by Cya. He wrote this song after waking up from a good dream and felt frustrated that he couldn't remember the contents of the dream. For Trigger, this song is actually writtened by Dongmyeong!! He started to write this song because he felt that Onewe was a group that has the ability to change the world and each and every member is so unique and has their own colours. Then while he was colouring his drawing, he realised that all the colours mixed together to form black and at that moment he felt that that black was so beautiful. He also mentioned briefly that this song has themes about tackling discrimination!! Next, for Orbit, I'm pretty sure you can tell whose song it is 🤣 Kanghyun wrote this as part of his space series and your commentary of this song is pretty much spot on so I have nothing much to say HAHAHAH and just a TMI for Trigger the korean title sounds like a curse word so it actually got banned on Bubble and Dongmyeong begged (jokingly) for them to release the ban and they actually went and released it for him only 😭😭😭 So far as until today, they have live performances of GIFT, Universe and Montage!! Universe and Montage were performed on a radio show and can I just say that Kanghyun absolutely killed the guitar solo in Montage and he did it live 😍

I think I have the radio show performance tabbed for later. Thank you for your great comments! Universe and From are definitely my two favorites off this album

I loved this reaction format and your insightful dissection of the lyrics. I also got minstrel (bard song) feels from the intro and later parts of Orbit. Such a beautiful collection of songs. As always, thank you for your frank and heartfelt reactions and for sharing your raw emotions in the moment. I cried along with you listening to Universe. 🖤

Omg From_ (Gift) has a very special place in my heart! It's an old fan favourite from when they were MAS 0094 and I'm so glad it's been released from the dungeon. I couldn't wait for you to hear it ever since your Universe reaction where you mentioned their mothers because this song was originally written for their parents. It's so interesting that you got that idea from their title track too.

The guitar part you were saying sounded so familiar in Envision_ is really similar to a bit of Parting, I think? So that's maybe where the familiarity comes from! Thank you for sharing your reactions to the whole album!

I honestly find it hard not to. It's a testament to both the song and MV, they're forever intertwined for me now.

I enjoyed this style! I honestly don't even know the lyrics for most of the K-pop I listen to, but getting a deep dive and commentary like this was fun. I think you should just do what comes naturally to you for each album. Pinch harmonic Kanghyun is my new favorite Kanghyun. I'm doubling down on what I said about Dream Theater in my MV reaction comment, I'd love to see these guys go down the prog metal rabbit hole and craft a 15-minute song that tells a whole story on its own. My favorite here is probably Montage_, mostly because of how heavy it is. As a (former?) metalhead, that really works for me. It's also varied and keeps you interested the whole way through. Orbit_ reminds me a lot of COSMOS which was my second-favorite B-side on Alter Ego. They're what I call "autumn songs". Acoustic, lower energy, somewhat melancholy but with a specific kind of bounce to them that I adore. And yeah, From_ is such an excellent finale. Just hearing it without the lyrics, it felt like it's saying "see you again". A hopeful goodbye, sort of.

Really enjoyed this style! It was very interesting to hear your breakdowns and insights into each song, their lyrics on this are fantastic. Hearing your discussion of Universe hit me straight in the heart. I can't even pick a favourite song on this, every track seems to get better for me with every listen. This is an A+ album for me. And I hadn't connected Orbit with sounding like a Bard's Tale, but it felt so obvious to me once you pointed it out. Such a cool touch. And yeah, just because it's pop music doesn't necessarily mean the lyrics can't have substance. I know that some people would probably scoff at this, but growing up with Taylor Swift's albums gave me a huge early appreciation for pop music with strong storytelling and deeper meaning to it. And that's really coloured the other music that I've connected to most going forward (no surprise that IU turned out to be an ult bias for me). I'm still relatively new to kpop, but from listening to kbands, and artists like IU, Gaho, and SUNMI, I already know that there's a lot of artists out there who have that deeper element to their lyrics, and I'd love to see you analyse that kind of music in some future videos like this if that's something you're interested in. Great video 🙂

No no you can’t just say everything I’ve been feeling so concisely and then describe it on a level that personally resonates so hard with me just like that?? Your thoughts on Universe_, specifically about college are exactly like mine. I’m a freshman in college right now. Moved 400 miles away from home about 3 weeks ago, and for the first 2-3 nights away, in my dorm, I did nothing but cry. I missed my mom so deeply in a way that I wasn’t quite prepared for because she, like yours is to you, is my whole world. She’s my only parent, so I wasn’t ready to leave her in my hometown 7 hours away where she isn’t just sitting on the living room couch when I exit my room. And then of course, when you said you wish you could go farther with her, break the human mold of life and death so you’d never be apart.. it reminds me of when I was younger, and I prayed one day for the day that God would bring everlasting life to us would be before my mom died because that thought, especially now so far away, scares me so deeply. Thank you so much for this album reaction and sharing your thoughts and getting real with us. Super satisfied that I resubscribed to your Patreon, even if just for this. I can’t wait to see how much farther you’ll go.

Comments like this bring me life. I'm so happy my feelings resonated you. I know when I'm getting personal in describing my experiences that it rings true to people in my audience. We come together for this great music, but how some of it can describe our humanity will always be my favorite parts. Artistry like this deserves to be praised beyond the surface level, even further.
