Haha the ones you knew the least at the start are the 3 main vocals of SJ.

Yaaaay Suju on variety is always a good choice! This episode is a lot of fun. 8) I agree about the fun dichotomy that comes when the guests are also all hosts--makes a mess for poor Kwanghee but good tv. It's like how for most guests on Idol League, Eunkwang and Sandara are huge sunbaenims, but when B1A4 were guests they were suddenly a cute hoobae and friendly noona. XD They're both teasing Kwanghee by complimenting him, and also he's very famous (at one point it was basically his whole shtick) for having EXTENSIVE plastic surgery. Very interesting to hear your impression of Leeteuk: he is not a bad dude at all, but he is definitely a shameless attention whore so he does better in shows where he can play into that persona, and when he's trying to be Strictly Professional Host Man to me too it can look a little stilted. Ryeowook is part of vocal line and he has a very distinctive high/sharp voice (and he is tiny) so he definitely could have stood out to you! The game with the gold medals was played by saying "would X pick Y or Z?" and everyone guesses while X picks. So if X picked Z, everyone who guessed Z got a medal! As far as 2nd gen sounds go, I think you're on the right track but for SuJu is particular SorrySorry hit HUGE and SM tried to re-create it for like 5 releases straight 🥴 so rather than it just being a 2nd gen sound, SorrySorry-Bonamana-MrSimple-SexyFreeAndSingle are very alike bc SM got chicken and just kept doing the exact same thing lololol. And on the topic of you saying 2nd gen felt like it was lagging behind american pop, my personal theory is it's to do with the old fellas running the company(s), who (Korean culture being what it is) couldn't be argued with. Lee SooMan had things he liked (including the deranged early TVXQ hairstyles, which afaik were straight from anime and visual kei) and what he wanted got done despite how unfashionable it might have been by that point. Suju are also interesting because they were meant to be a rotation group (SM tried, got burned, tried again with NCT bc--again, if the boss wants it it happens no matter how unpopular with fans) and they were kinda the leftovers: the elite trainees had already debuted as TVXQ, so SuJu was meant to just kinda get them out there and let them 'graduate' into individual entertainment fields--I seem to remember that Shindong has explicitly said that he thought he was gonna be in an idol group for like a couple years then he's basically be a tv comedian.

Purple Spirit

I mean it's not that controversial actually, most 2nd gen and early 3rd gen idols have plastic surgery or work done due to the beauty standards during those times. I think the late 3rd gen and 4th gen idols have the least work done, I think some uses at least like fillers or implants etc.

Romang

lol you said that donghae really reminds u of someone and you couldnt figure out who. i'm only halfway through watching so idk yet if you figured it out but.... could it be nct's jeno? these two are well known for being company look-alikes hehehe

I haven't watched this yet so its gonna be interesting to see how you react to their humor since you are unfamiliar with them and because as someone who has been a kpop fan for long I know variety shows dynamics, type of humor & overall for 2nd & 3rd gen group is completely different than how 4th gen groups are and what you're used to

shinwon swimming

i think what's interesting about the styling is that it wasnt limited to just kpop. as someone who was more into taiwanese pop at the early years of 2nd gen era (2000s), you will be surprised how similar the styling was for bgs with the long hair and all. i think it might have been an asian culture thing.

Diana Montaño

My favorite ep with Super Junior was when they were promoting Black Suit, with the 2x speed dance, random dance and they winning their respective credit cards. I don`t know how suggestions ot petitions are made but i you want to know them and at the same time see girl groups, you could watch Super TV season 2, it was llike a game show with all of them been mc and they had groups as guest to play against them in many games (Gidle, Kard, Red Velvet, Momoland, AOA and others), it was really fun.

If you have the time could you please react to Mamamoo idol room? It’s episode 14 of idol room it’s worth watching

Robert Arthur

Most Idols have had some sort of plastic surgery on their faces. Personally, I think they do it very tastefully, and there's nothing wrong with it. If part of your job is to look beautiful, then go for it. Kpop is entertainment, and it is entertaining to look at beautiful people. I like K-indie for different reasons. It's fun to watch people who don't meet the Korean beauty standard, who are insanely talented. It's all relative.

Tbh on the heechul being the best mc thing is quite interesting bc fans chose a different one depending on their taste but also members themselves chose another person. Idk about the hidden track bc I don’t watch for newer shows but overall he’s the type to guide and organize the atmosphere as they said, heechul does quite good with adlibs and quick wits, shindong and kyuhyun ( you might not know him but kyuhyun is actually one of the mc line and quite famous for some shows but ig it’s not as famous overseas compared to kr) are a mixture of the two. And then there is eunhyuk who is voted by all the former famous ones as the best variety character of them but never had the chance to shine

kisa1909

Most definitely. Fahrenheit comes to mind right away for me. And then in Japan it was the same with groups like Arashi, KAT-TUN, NEWS, Kis-My-Ft2, etc.

kisa1909

I'll request a K.R.Y. song so you can get more familiar with the 3 members you recognize the least lol. And you mentioned wanting to hear the members just sing so there's a stage for "Evanesce" that's super popular and almost every member is there singing. I'll stick that in somewhere along the way probably!

EtoileDuMatin

It would be so great to have a reaction to the next episode...
